Angiogram for peripheral vascular disease

Common Questions and Answers about Angiogram for peripheral vascular disease

angiogram

Avatar f tn The other possibility is peripheral vascular disease. You would need angiogram or color dopplar for this. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar m tn - Is it typically an interventional cardiologist that does the initial cath and angiogram of lower extremities and legs in the process of treating peripheral artery disease that causes leg or calf cramping? I've had an ultra sound evaluation and the pain of claudication when exercising indicates I have it.
Avatar m tn I feel that a consultation of a physician will be the best. Other causes like peripheral vascular disease also have to be ruled out. You may need to get a peripheral artery magnetic resonance angiogram done to confirm the diagnosis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Did they test your sodium level in your blood or a 24 hour urine test for sodium? What about testing your thyroid function & ADH or antidiuretic hormone, which helps regulate water in your body? Did they do a color doppler on your legs to test circulation? Peripheral vascular disease can affect extremities with pain and swelling. My grandma had PVD. Your heart's okay you say, but what about your triglycerides and cholesterol levels?
Avatar m tn There are a few possibilities like hypothyroidism, peripheral neuropathy like in diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, Reynaud’s phenomenon and very cold external temperatures. The other possibility is peripheral vascular disease. You would need angiogram or color dopplar for this. Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.

Avatar f tn My husband, 79 yrs, has been experiencing difficulty in walking more than 50 yds, some motor balance problem, numb feet and lower legs for some 6-7 yrs and problem is getting increasingly worse. He has seen a vascular surgeon and had a stent put in right leg 6 yrs ago for pvd, cardiologist, (angiogram showed one blocked artery of long standing, Cardio said not the problem and referred him to a neurosurgeon for suspected spinal cancal stenosis.
Avatar f tn The various causes of leg pain are atherosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis - leg pain on walking (A blood clot in a deep vein), Leriche syndrome (block in abdominal aorta and/or main leg artery), limb ischaemia (low oxygen to limbs), sciatica, spondylitis of lower vertebrae and peripheral vascular disease (arteries of limbs are involved). Doppler tests will rule out the possibility of involvement of an artery or vein. An angiogram too can be done.
Avatar f tn Jaybay has summed it a vascular surgeon well. They treat vascular diseases. Vascular disease includes any condition that affects the circulatory system. Vascular disease ranges from diseases of your arteries, veins, and lymph vessels to blood disorders that affect circulation. Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) or Peripheral artery disease (PAD) and atherosclerosis examples of diseases of the blood vessels.
Avatar m tn The sensations of pins and tingling are generally due to peripheral neuropathies or vascular pathologies. Hence peripheral vascular pathologies have to be ruled out either by angiograms or by dopplar studies. Nerve conduction studies should be done. Vitamin B12 deficiency too should be looked into.
1046692 tn?1255391835 Have you had a Doppler ultrasound or an angiogram done. Have they consider Peripheral vascular disease (PVD)? There is also peripheral vein disease (PVD) which involves the veins. PVD can also be known as peripheral arterial disease or PAD. PAD or PVD is the medical terms given to a group of problems that causes poor circulation to the feet and legs. The most common cause of this is atherosclerosis which is better know as hardening of the arteries.
Avatar f tn does she have a vascular ring or not? If she has pre-existing tracheal narrowings due to her auto-immune disease, independent of a vascular ring, perhaps they feel that the narrowing caused by a ring is not significant and that repair would be unlikely to change her airway status. You said they said the MRI was OK....so not sure if the ring was a correct diagnosis or not. Fainting would not likely be associated with a vascular ring.
1002512 tn?1265438579 There are many causes for ridges on the toes nails such as eczema, lichen planus, dermatitis, peripheral vascular disease, psoriasis, fungal infection, and Raynaud’s disease. Since you all have numbness, shooting pains, forgetfulness, arm and leg weakness and fatigue chances of Raynaud’s disease and other peripheral vascular diseases should be ruled out. Diabetes, smoking, high lipids and high blood pressure are some of the causes of peripheral vascular diseases.
Avatar f tn Hello, These symptoms can be due to peripheral vascular disease or Raynaud’s disease. Raynaud’s disease is a vascular disorder that affects blood flow to the extremities which include the fingers, toes, nose and ears when exposed to temperature changes or stress. This causes blueness and swelling of the skin. I feel that a consultation of a physician will be the best. Other causes like peripheral vascular disease also have to be ruled out.
2032758 tn?1331625043 Smoking, alcohol, and illicit drugs can also be a cause. Medical conditions such as high blood pressure, poor circulation and peripheral vascular disease, heart or thyroid conditions, spinal cord injury, nerve damage (for example, from prostate surgery), or neurologic disorders (such as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease) can all cause erection problems. Though these medical conditions may not be there in your boyfriend's case they need case they need to be ruled out one by one.
Avatar m tn back in 1970 they didn't know about peripheral vascular disease, or have the technology for endocrinologiclal cause, they didn't know about fibromyalgia.
Avatar f tn Although there were no changes in pressures, the test was positive for subclavian artery disease of both right and left arteries. Mild occlusive disease bilaterally. I made an appt. with a Vascular Surgeon which is coming up January 13 2014. I am symptomatic since December. I cant do anything using my arms. I am Left handed. I have a continuous aching in the left shoulder and chest. It wipes out all energy. While the term mild is in the report, I have major symptoms.
Avatar n tn Plavix is used to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, particularly in people with a recent history of stroke or heart attack, and those with peripheral vascular disease (peripheral artery disease, PAD).
Avatar f tn ve been seeing a vascular doctor for the DVT which is progressing fine, but my vascular doctor has kept me on Warfarin to prevent any new clots due to my family history and blood profile test results showing a propensity to clot. Now listen carefully...After my last 3-month visit, the session is over, the vascular doctor just recapped my DVT scan results, we're about to leave. Then, I made this comment.
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms if there is no rash and you are feeling like bugs biting all over the body, the possibility of peripheral vascular disease needs to be ruled out. They are common in alcoholics and metabolic disorders like diabetes, hypothyroidism, and hypoparathyroidism. They can also be due to peripheral vascular disease, vitamin B12 deficiency or malnutrition. Get your blood sugar and thyroid hormones levels evaluated.

Avatar n tn No heart damage was detected, they did an angiogram and found only 10% micro vascular blockages. Then one month ago I had again possible heart attack. Elevated triponin that continued to rise with chest pain. Did not see any stress cardiomyopathy on echo. I again had a repeat angiogram but only showed micro vascular blockages at about 10%. They are puzzled with what is going on. I am active and excise daily, have been eating low fat, low sugar diet for 15 years.
