Avatar n tn That is why I have a new Preventative Cardiologist who put me on metropolol immediately and sent me to the hospital for an angiogram Dec 24. The Interventional Cardiologist told me just before the last angiogram that she thought I had a mild heart attack, which really scared me as no one else had actually told me that. The angiogram came back all 12 stents were totally patent, and said I was good to go.

Urine testing will also be done to make sure that your kidneys function normally. In addition, medical clearance for pre-existing conditions, will need to be submitted to the living donor team for review. Other tests may be necessary depending on the results of these studies.
Avatar n tn Had an angiogram in 2009 showed 50%blockage. Had a stress test 2 weeks ago suggesting an 80% blockage. The angiogram was completely clear 2 days ago. Have lost over 100 lbs. between the 2 tests. Could that cause the first blockage to disappear and show the stress test unreliable? Could undiagnosed thyroid disease be an unerlying problem since ekgs are abnormal?
Avatar m tn There are two tests commonly used for the detection of coronory artery disease i.e Thallium Scan and Angiography. Now adays Angiography has become very simple and the facility is available everywhere. The doctors are still advising for the Thallium Scan test which , to my view point, is less accurate and authentic than the angiography.
Avatar n tn Perhaps they have stented a blockage and hope he will develop collateral vessels to compensate for other blockages elsewhere? The Cardiologist who did the angiogram should know the reasons. It could be that the stents started to block a few weeks after being installed, which is not as uncommon as some people like to believe. His LDL is very low indeed, but LDL will not be an influence on forming scar tissue in the stents.
Avatar n tn I assume you had some kind of stress test? either stress echo or a nuclear scan? I say this because unless you match the heart motion in 2 states, relaxed vs stressed, you can't tell if it's reversible or not. So, you have 2 good words here 'mild' and 'reversible'. Mild means the heart wall is not affected much and reversible means the lack of blood flow is only occurring when the heart is under load showing there is sufficient flow at rest.
Avatar n tn org/wiki/Metformin Contraindications Metformin is contraindicated in people with any condition that could increase the risk of lactic acidosis, including kidney disorders (creatinine levels over 150 μmol/l (1.7 mg/dL),[47] although this is an arbitrary limit), lung disease and liver disease. According to the prescribing information, heart failure, in particular, unstable or acute congestive heart failure, increases risk of lactic acidosis with metformin.
Avatar n tn Would a clear angiogram 2.5 years ago and a clear nuclear stress test last year indicate good heart health. I sometimes get bad shoulder pain an I worry it is related to my heart.
Avatar n tn I have mid back pain on the left side coming and going for years. It will hit me and I feel like I cant function its so bad. Then when its not flared up I am fine. I always KNOW the pain is there as it is somewhat tender inside now. Also had a spot come up on my ankle that looked like blood pooled under skin after umerious trips to the ER thinking I had blood clots they said maybe superficial blood clot. I read that that can go along with pancreatic cancer.
Avatar f tn Did they test your sodium level in your blood or a 24 hour urine test for sodium? What about testing your thyroid function & ADH or antidiuretic hormone, which helps regulate water in your body? Did they do a color doppler on your legs to test circulation? Peripheral vascular disease can affect extremities with pain and swelling. My grandma had PVD. Your heart's okay you say, but what about your triglycerides and cholesterol levels?
