Avatar n tn When the source cannot be detected via upper endoscopy, bleeding scans and angiogram can be performed to find the source of bleeding. You say he is at the hospital. ('His liver doctor will be coming up from Chicago tomorrow')? Is he at the transplant center hospital being taken care of by the transplant staff? He needs to be. Other doctors are not knowledgeable and experienced in treating the complications of End-Stage Liver Disease (ESLD).
Avatar f tn Yes, excessive internal bleeding is very serious and sometimes a person doesn't know until too late. Thanks for sharing and do a followup, an interesting situation!.
Avatar f tn Just a thought...have you used aspirin or other pain medication for your dog's arthritis? Or any herbal treatment? If so, that could possibly be causing this symptom.

Avatar n tn Hi there, I am 39 years old and suffer from SLE. I have had visual problems for more than a year now in the the form of snow/static, the sensation of light in my vision (like if you stared at a bright light and then looked around) a black floater in my right eye, sensitivity to bright light, decreased night vision. I have failed two VF tests, and seen a retinal specialist who states that I have retinitis pigmentosa. Some of the symptoms fit, but not all.
Avatar m tn Hello, Friday night I went drinking with friends, and I got a bit carried away. I passed out briefly, and after sitting down for a little while, I ended up walking home (about 3 miles). Yesterday (Saturday) I was very hungover. I puked some and it was difficult to eat. Today I feel significantly better, but I noticed a spot on my abdomen, and I just want to make sure it's nothing problematic. I am attaching a picture.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the advice. I go in next week for an angiogram to rule out a dural fistula. Hope it gets ruled out!
Avatar n tn I had symptoms of arm weakness long time ago for so many years. I cannot raise up my arms for long as they get tired easily. Are these symptoms of subclavian streal syndrome?
Avatar n tn I had a CT angiogram for heart this week. Compared to a regular angiogram or catheterization , the CT angiogram can be considered a noninvasive procedure. However, in your dad's case the CT angiogram may also be considered risky because of kidney problems. His kidneys may not be able to deal with the dye used for CT angiogram. I am not a doctor so here I am just giving advice based on my on experience.
Avatar m tn Her cardiologist has referred her for an angiogram with a possible angioplasty this coming Thursday. Could you, please, advise me of what she (and us ) can expect ? How safe is angioplasty for somebody of her age and somebody who already had a CABG ? Thank you very much for your answer in advance !
Avatar m tn the doctor ordering this 64 slice told me if this test showed any blockage i would then have something to show my cardiologist and then i would need to have conventional angiogram for further investigating. can someone please help explain the differencebetween the 64 slice ct scan over a conventional angiogram and are there any advantiges over one or the other?
Avatar f tn I was in the hospital recently due to vertigo issues. They ran a CT angiogram with contrast. The only thing listed on the radiology report was “minimal calcified plaque in the internal carotid arteries, no significant stenosis”. Does this mean I have heart disease. Also I read that if I have any plaque in my carotids then I most definitely have it in my coronary arteries and it is probably worse. Is this true?
Avatar n tn hello, my mom is 72 years old, she is type2 diabetic, hyper tensive and have ischemic heart disease, she has been adviced to go through angiogram and shunting after that. how safte it is for her, with her health background? will she survive after that, is it a dangerous procedure?
Avatar n tn Please help, any insight as to what tests I can ask for to get a diagnosis, to see if there is damage caused by the angiogram and hopefully resolve this so I can get back to my life. I have no quality of life now.
359574 tn?1328360424 My 5 mm annie on the internal carotid has the ophthalmic artery coming out the side of it. The doctor who did my angiogram told me it wasn't treatable through endovascular means like coiling because it would cut off blood to the eye. The surgeon also told me a craniotomy and clipping is riskier than leaving it alone and monitoring it. At my one year follow-up, the CT Angiogram showed no changes.
