Quinilones are used less frequently for sure due to some side effect issues and warnings about the class of drugs. Check with your doctor if you have any concerns but they are definately not the same thing.
Often antibiotics have little niches that they are used in.

How long does it take to get this anti-biotic out of your system? It really sent me into a anxiety tailspin. I have been a little stressed lately, but wow. My Dr. says my anxiety and insomnia has nothing to do with the anti-biotic... but after reading some of these other posts, I can't help but feel that there is a lot of missing information out there about possible side effects. Has anyone else experienced anything like this lately?

Are you allergic to any drugs? For examples penicillins? then maybe your doctor meant to write metronidazole 500mg as there is another type of treatment for penicillin allergic patients which includes metronidazole 500mg + clarithromycin 500mg + PPI.
I just had the samething happen to me my 9mpntj old daughter was sick with ear infection and viral infection. She took amoxicillin and now has red spots all over her body and face, and has had fever of 102. My doctor said samething erythema multiforme . And said it can last for 14days.

Doxycycline is not related to amoxicillin and sulfa drugs as it belongs to a different category of drugs(tetracyclines).Side effects of doxycycline are headache, dizziness, blurred vision, body aches, flu symptoms,skin rashes,chest tightness,respiratory difficulty,nausea,vomiting etc.
I strongly advise you to ask your daughter to stop taking doxycycline so that no life threatening anaphylaxis occurs.
First my medical background. I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma ( blood cancer) 5 years ago. I underwent high dose chemo and a stem cell transplant 4.5 months ago. I am currently on chemo one day a week. I have been on the same drug most of the year without any bad side affects. Besides the myeloma I am fit and healthy although the treatment does make me tired at times. My blood is tested weekly and nothing out of the ordinary has been noted.

You also need to rule out other allergens which you are sensitive to. Drugs like amoxicillin, certain painkillers, certain garments, environmental allergen and certain food (fish, mushroom, peanuts, soy etc) can also cause such reaction.

I was on 875 mg of amoxicillin for respritory infection then the day i finished that I was given levaquin for a sinus infection I got while I was on the amoxicillin and now I have an ear infection with discharge and bleeding and the sinus infection is not gone? Is it possible to get all these infections one right after the other while on these anibiotics?
I'm taking amoxicillin and my cheeks are very red, like i'm sunburnt, and very hot. It's only on my cheeks no where else on my face or body. I've been givien this same medicine many times and have never had this reaction, The only other thing I can think about is I was given a corticosteroid shot and nasal spray called Fluticasone. It's not shown as a side effect of the nasal spray, but could it be from one of these other medicines. Should I call my pharmacist or doctor?
The last thing I want is more drugs!! I have just tried the saltwater mouth rinse and gargle. I have been on amoxicillin 500 mg for seven days and now have a very red burnt feeling tongue with white spots at the back of it. I will let you know how it works! It is also suggested that you avoid hot spicy foods, allow hot drinks to cool slightly and avoid acidic citrus fruits.
