I've had a sore throat since the 19 of dec, and i went to my doctor a week ago and she had diagnosed me with a throat infection, she prescribed me to 500mg Amoxicillin 3x per day and my course finished this Monday, and i'm still getting really bad throat pains and am recently getting very sharp upper chest pain when i breath in, any help?

Also for sore throat, gargle with warm salt water (you might gag, cause it's disgusting) but the salt kills infection. So those are two ways that you can get relief without medication.
I'm 6 weeks pregnant. At 4 weeks I got strep and had to be on amoxicillin and tylenol. My sore throat got a little better but has came back with a vengeance. I really don't want to go to the doc and be put on more antibiotics since I'm still in the 1st trimester. Any safe home remedys to cure a sore throat?
I have had a sore/dry throat for about 2 months now with few other symptoms. No fever, cough, runny nose etc... I do however have thick or excessive mucus production in the back of my throat. It has not improved or worsened over time.

But, on physical exam of the wisdom tooth, thought he found crack in tooth, below gumline.
I had fever entire time during first three days. Now I still have fever and sore throat, but two times in the day. It goes away for 8 hours after I take 2 tynenol, 1 mucin and 2 Echinacea and 1 amoxicillin. I get fever and dry cough back and I take the medicine again for another 8 hours relief. Also I'm not able to speak when I take amoxicillin and get very serious head ache.
Also, I took TB skin test and was positive, but chest xray and blood reports were negative.
Before that last encounter I had had unprotected sex with the same guy twice and shortly after I noticed my throat was a little irritated and my taste buds were enlarged. I went to the doctor and had a full panel of std tests run. Everything came back negative and he swore to me he was negative for everything and if he wasn't he would have never had unprotected sex with me.
Hi and sorry you are ill. Do you still have the sore throat? Do you have a high fever? Usually, with a strep throat you don't have a cough or other symptoms. So this sounds like a virus rather than a strep throat. So, when you went it to the doctor what were your symptoms to start with? If you only had pus in the throat and a sore throat with a fever you had strep throat. Then if they did a strep test and it was positive the antibiotics didn't help the sore throat?
Fast forward two weeks - I was feeling fatigued, my glands on my neck were slightly sore, and I had a really sore throat. I went to my regular doctor and he gave me a 5 day course of amoxicillin to clear my throat. It worked fine.

Continue finishing your amoxicillin first. See a doctor after a week since the start of your amoxicillin to get other stds test. Amoxicillin might not be effective against gonorrhea anymore.
If I suspect Mono, and took a 3 day course of Amoxicillin (10 pills) and developed no rash, can I pretty much rule out mono?
Some sources state 80-90% of those taking Amoxicillin with Mono develop the rash, while I've even seen 99% as a percentage.
I actually want it to be Mono, instead of something worse, but I'm starting to fear the worst.
Have any of you had Mono, been misdiagnosed with Strep and took Amoxicillin, and NOT get the rash?
A year ago I kissed a girl who had relationships with at least 5 guys before me. Two days later I had a sore throat, then a cold sore. I recently did an STD test for common STDs with Labcorp, Only HSV-1 came positive (IgG = 3.0). I remember noticing a cold sore once or twice during the year, but never had pain or serious symptoms. I recently had flu like symptoms (sore throat, headache, fatigue) that my doctor attributed to common cold. Doctor prescribed Amoxicillin for 10 days.
They gave me amoxicillin and it helped the sore throat but came back a few days after the meds... I went back they gave me a x ray and they said they ruled out bronchitis... Gave me meds but I dont have a cough just a sore throat, Not loosing weight or stool problems, havent really seen a rash... took all the meds and that was last week.... Its been like a month now. Any suggestions? Should I go and actually test for hiv or stds? What does this sound like?
They gave me amoxicillin for ten days scared it wld hurt baby but if the doctor recommended then it has to b safe right. ?

I'm 16, and I recently got put on amoxicillin for a really bad eat infection. When I went to the doctor, he said he saw no problems other than in my left sinuses which he assumed was the problem for my ear ache/runny nose/sore throat, etc. I've been taking nasonex, sudafed, and just today stopped taking my amoxicillin pills.
