Due to a recent oral sex encounter, I got tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia in the throat. Those swabs were done with the Aptima Combo 2 Assay and came back negative. I took azithromycin and rocephin injection as a precaution (before the swab results came back), and am currently taking Augmentin to get rid of the strep. I was feeling fine and healed until yesterday when my throat started to hurt again.
So I caught a bacteria on my throat last month and was prescribed with Amoxicillin. It got rid of the infection, but then right after my tonsils from inside my throat was swollen and was taking Prednisone. It went away. I felt better and now I have it again. A bacteria on my tonsils and I found out I am getting it from my filthy fan. This time the doctor gave me Clindamycin.
Besides this Group B Streptococcus, mycoplasma, neisseria and cornybacterium are known to cause throat infections. Other known pathogens causing infections of the throat are viral and yeast (candida). The antibiotic of choice for a streptococcal infection is penicillin but azithromycin is also effective.

ve had a sore throat since the 19 of dec, and i went to my doctor a week ago and she had diagnosed me with a throat infection, she prescribed me to 500mg Amoxicillin 3x per day and my course finished this Monday, and i'm still getting really bad throat pains and am recently getting very sharp upper chest pain when i breath in, any help?

I was prescribed Amoxicillin a couple days ago for strep throat and an ear infection and when I opened the bottle to take it I noticed that it smelled bad. I don't know if it's normal or not so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have had a sore/dry throat for about 2 months now with few other symptoms. No fever, cough, runny nose etc... I do however have thick or excessive mucus production in the back of my throat. It has not improved or worsened over time.

I got tested and it turns out i had mono all along so now i am just waiting for this rash to go away even though i no longer have the sore throat or any other problems.
They gave me amoxicillin for ten days scared it wld hurt baby but if the doctor recommended then it has to b safe right. ?
I'm 16, and I recently got put on amoxicillin for a really bad eat infection. When I went to the doctor, he said he saw no problems other than in my left sinuses which he assumed was the problem for my ear ache/runny nose/sore throat, etc. I've been taking nasonex, sudafed, and just today stopped taking my amoxicillin pills.

I had fever entire time during first three days. Now I still have fever and sore throat, but two times in the day. It goes away for 8 hours after I take 2 tynenol, 1 mucin and 2 Echinacea and 1 amoxicillin. I get fever and dry cough back and I take the medicine again for another 8 hours relief. Also I'm not able to speak when I take amoxicillin and get very serious head ache.
Also, I took TB skin test and was positive, but chest xray and blood reports were negative.
Day 3 on Amoxicillin. no puss and the swelling seems to be going down. Tonsils are still pretty gross looking.

Hi and sorry you are ill. Do you still have the sore throat? Do you have a high fever? Usually, with a strep throat you don't have a cough or other symptoms. So this sounds like a virus rather than a strep throat. So, when you went it to the doctor what were your symptoms to start with? If you only had pus in the throat and a sore throat with a fever you had strep throat. Then if they did a strep test and it was positive the antibiotics didn't help the sore throat?
Prescribed Amoxicillin 875 mg and a shot of rocephin followed that Friday when I was feeling no relief yet. Its now 5 days since starting amoxicillin and the throat opening hurts less but my appetite is totally gone and the tonsil actually seems bigger but less red. and it continuously puts out pus. it is not swollen past a midline but it is rather puffy and doeant resemble a tonsil. I wipe the pus with a cotton tip and it looks like it is coming from a tiny hole.
Seen my doctor and he put me on Amoxicillin. My strep cleared up for the most part (the white crap all over my throat). Throat is still sore and have ulcers in a few places around my mouth. Not to worried about that, what does worry me is now my gums are killing me. I cannot even tough them with a brush. No blood as of yet from them. Is this the last of the infection retreating?
4 days after Amoxicillin, pain came back. Started same way, sore Left side throat, red swollen gum around the tooth, hard white bump, ? Fistula - maybe a piece of bone, painful. Made appt w/ Oral Surg, Rx'd more Amoxicillin, which eventually helped swelling go down. At appt., did x-ray, not catscan. He did not see anything wrong. But, on physical exam of the wisdom tooth, thought he found crack in tooth, below gumline.

i am already on my 5week and still i have problem of dried and itching throat. i had also amoxicillin prescribed by specialists doc but its been 1week and the medicine are also not working.now i had one more blister inside my mouth. i am also having digestion problem. from one week i am having continued watery stool.
so worried again and would like to know should i do more test after 12 weeks. i
is there any chance of changing of my result after 12 weeks.
