on research I see that amoxicillin has a wide dosing range you should be okay, but of course get in touch with the doctor to make sure..

I have a small dog (11lbs) and she was recently at the vet for an injury to her head and other lacerations from another dog. I always worry about over dosing because of her size. She was given 0.30 cc Rimadyl 0.80 cc Buprenex 2.00mg Dexamethasone 1.50cc Amoxicillin. After about 6 weeks with the TPN and steroids, the diarrhea improved. Two weeks later she was put on amoxicillin for a sinus infection. After 2 doses, the diarrhea was back, and bad! We stopped the amoxicillin, but the diarrhea has continued for another 3 weeks and she has again lost 2lbs. Our doctors are out of suggestions, and say that this is just how it's going to be. I refused to believe that there is no source of this diarrhea and therefore nothing that we can do about it.
Mono spot was neg. WBC 10.6K, platelets 343K. Sed rate was 34. They prescribed Amoxicillin and said it was likely strep. Saw our ped. on Mon. He thought it was likely viral (no growth yet reported after 24 hrs on cultures) but to finish Amox since we were already into it in case further culture showed growth. On Wed., fever was persisting, mostly low grade. I think the highest we recorded was 102.8 one time. He said to d/c amoxicillin and call him Fri. or Sat.
The first two weeks my symptoms were severe night sweats ,chills wheezing cough , sinus congestion, headache, very sore when swallowing [felt like I had swallowed razorblades] and white coating on my tongue . The second week I bought over the counter amoxicillin 500mg twice daily for 10 days standard medication for Strep throat . They said that he had mono from having tonsilitis and taking amoxicillin. They check his thyroid levels and said that everything was normal. They didn't say anything about any nodules. They also didn't say anything about a growth, just that there was some tissue on his thyroid. His ent dr. says that he needs to go to speech therapy, because he is not relaxing his vocal cords, but he can get his voice back sometimes, but then it goes away again.

THE SAME DAY AND FILLED IT I CANT STAND THIS PAIN ANY MORE ........ PLEASE HELP ME .......IS THIS NORMAL TO NOT SLEEP. EAT, AND POP SO MANY PILLS FOR RELIFE??? OR DO I NEED TO RETURN TO MY DENTIST?????HELP ME PLEASE........
The dose for amoxicillin is 62.5 mg per cat twice per day. Amoxicillin is a form of penicillin. A 20 pound cat is really equivalent to two average sized cats so I think that you could safely increase the dose to 75mg twice daily. 50mg of penicillin twice daily is under dosing for any cat. Please try and actually weigh him to be sure or his most recent weight since he may have lost weight since the incident.
He probably has not defecated as yet since he is not consuming much food.

So yesterday I went to the Dr for an ear infection and the Dr said it was pretty bad. He prescribed me amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day for 10 days. He said it was safe but I am scared. I have called and left a message for my drs assistant. Waiting for a call back. Have any of you had to take this in this dossage?
