You are right that the data on use of azithromycin for syphilis prevention is worrisome however penicillin (or amoxicillin) is highly active and if you had been exposure to syphilis 5 days of amoxicillin would have cured it.
Bottom line, there is no reason to worry aobut syphilis and no need for further testing.
The ceftin, doxycycline, and amoxicillin all are highly active against syphilis; any one of the, by itself would do the job.
However, the chance of syphilis in this situation was almost zero. The large majority of syphilis in the US is in gay men, and most of the rest are in inner-city, economically disadvantaged populations.
The oral fluid HIV test is 100% reliable 3 months or more after the last exposure.
So you can put aside any fears of either HIV or syphilis.
The rash varies in size and distance apart. I have no other symptoms that are typical of syphilis but I am very concerned at the same time . I have used antifungal cream to no affect. About 3 weeks ago I visited my GP for a sinus infection. He prescribed Curam Duo Forte (Amoxicillin) 875/125g twice daily for 10 days. The rash appeared after my doctors visit but before I started the treatment. Although the rash has not advanced it is still present.
After receiving unprotected oral sex from a female (male recipient). Someone is prescribed 500mg amoxicillin 3x's daily for 10 days, would this abort the incubation of such std's as Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, or syphilis? The antibiotics were prescribed the day after the encounter (within 24 hours). I've been hearing different things from different sites and its been driving me crazy. Do I need to worry? Thank you.
I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.

I am on amoxicillin + Ciprofloxacin from last 8 days now (for bacterial diagnosed on my penis) .
Now, I want to re-test for all STD's . Can anyone please help me to let me know which tests will be effected as I am on antibiotics from 8 days and when should I get re-test if any STD effected by this medicine.
I want to test for CBC, HIV, HSV1,2, HEPATITIS A,B,C, SYPHILIS, CHLAMYDIA, GONNORHEA. Or any other std test if I should have ?
I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Niacin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin.
Hi, only testing would confirm infections but syphilis is contract at point of contact so any chancres would appear on your penis or mouth area also they are not sypmptoms as your describing anyway. You cant get HIV from oral sex so you can rule that out also.
Receiving unprotected oral sex is lower risk than unprotected vaginal or anal sex.
You can get gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis and genital herpes type 1 (if you don't already have oral herpes type 1.
Syphilis is uncommon in most developed countries. I wouldn't worry much about that. You can test for that at 6 weeks if you feel the need to.
You can test for hsv1 if you want, but the hsv1 IgG blood test is unreliable and misses 30% of infections.
First off, you shouldn't even medicate yourself for you may not know whether or not you actually contracted a std. You don't know if you are treating for the right std too. There has to be a certain measure of medication and type of medicine in order to help you get better if you happen to have a std. Second, unprotected oral is low risk but certainly not a no risk situation. You may get gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, herpes. HIV has not been known to be contracted through oral sex.

t have the opportunity to inspect, within the vagina or at the rectum. Most penile syphilis lesions are noticed and since your penis was the site of exposure, I assume you would have noticed if a lesion had occurred.
As I said before, this was a very low risk exposure. Finally, the amoxicillin you took could have PREVENTED syphilis if you were taking it during or soon after your exposure. Quinolone antibiotics such as levofloxacin have no effect on syphilis.
A couple of days after the occurance my friend (in medical school) gave me 3 Amoxicillin pills of 500mg. I took two one day and then another day took one. At about a week after exposure,, my friend gave me more of the same Amoxicillin 500mg pills. I took them every 8 hours until I ran out. I had 7 pills.
I am really worried about Stds. What was my risk from the exposure? Also, did the Amoxicilin do anything if I indeed had acquired an STD from that exposure? Am I at risk of HIV?
I was veey drunk 12 days ago and received unprotected oral. freaked out. had 6g of amoxicillin as I thought I'd caught gonorrhea and a dose of azithromycin too. still freaking out! am I being paranoid.
Augmentin is a combination drug, amoxicillin plus clavulanic acid. Only the amox is active ageist syphilis. I would take 1 gram amoxicillin 3-4 times a day for 4 weeks. It will cause a lot of diarrhea, which is one reason penicillin shots are preferred.
Welcome to our Forum. I will try to help. The lesions you describe do not sound like classical syphilis and syphilis is aware disease, particularly among heterosexuals (even I foreign nations). Nonetheless syphilis can have varied presentations and although unlikely, could be definitively ruled out with ablood test. If this was syphilis 10 or more days of amoxicillin would likely be curative..
I was planing to take STD test after 3 weeks, including gonorrhea and syphilis, but you know the coronavirus is spreading and scary. I know my chance to get STD is pretty low after briefly sucking a married guy.
No gonorrhea or syphilis symptoms so far.
What should I do now? Do you think it is a good idea to go to the clinic for STD test? I am afraid of the coronavirus now. What do you think?
i was wondering, i went to the dentist with a gum problem and was precribed amoxicillin a while before the test. would this have cured the syphilis if i had it and given a negative result? i worry because i have a wife... and if i did have it and gave it do her it would be terrible. thanks.
