I was prescribed NuvaRing on Sept 20th and put it in same day around 12pm. I just had unprotected sex with ejaculation inside last night on thursday sept 28th at approx. 1am. i had it in for the 7 days and now i'm scared I might become pregnant because I am afraid we did not wait long enough. Does anyone know if I could become pregnant or when the NuvaRing becomes effective? I've read online to wait 7 days and we did but we cut it very close.
its not as effective as initial research showed... the package insert and nuvaring website say it is 99% effective... it has recently been shown to be closer to 95%so be careful! several women have been getting pregnant while using nuvaring as directed... i myself am concerned i may be and iv been using it properly for several months!

I was told by a doctor I might have a chest infection so she put me on 500mg of amoxicillin three times a day. I'm also on diazepam for muscle spasms and anxiety. I cannot remember is she said it was ok go take them both together.
If ok to take together this will put my mind at rest and stop me panicing.
I typically take 2 grams of amoxicillin before all dental procedures (and some medical ones, too) due to Mitral Valve Prolapse with regurgition and a PFO in the heart.
I am currently taking a round of amoxicillin for another problem (strep throat, 2 pills twice a day for 10 days.) These will be finished on this Friday.
I postponed my regularly scheduled teeth cleaning/check-up, because it was only a few weeks away. I re-scheduled it for one month from the end of this amoxicillin treatment.
There is the implantation devices, patch, shot, nuvaring. All of these can be obtained at your local planned parenthood or from your doctor. They can explain the effectiveness of each.
I’ve been on the nuva ring for 18 months but married for 7months. We have realized that it has significantly lowered my sex drive!! And I don’t know what to do!! It’s becoming a real problem in my marriage. I don’t want to stop the nuvaring because this seems to be the only real side effect and it seems to be perfect for us on all other fronts. But please help me. I need a good supplement or something to get my drive back without effecting the effectiveness of my BC!!!
She told me that the oral pill would metabolize through the liver much faster on Modafinil and so she put me on the Nuvaring. (I thought that would be metabolized the same way- but I’m no doctor)! I just went to get a new Nuvaring at my pharmacy and the pharmacist told me the same thing, that Modafinil will affect my birth control. If there is an option where I am protected?
I had just started taking Alesse for the first time and was only one pill in when I received the antibiotic (amoxicillin). I took it concurrently with the birth control for only two days, at 250mg a pill, three pills a day. I was then told I didn't need to finish the remainder of the pills, so I took my birth control normally every night at 10 30pm for the month without missing a single one or being late once. My period came as normal.

Hi there , so i currently had my wisdom teeth taken out and was given antibiotics to help any infection from coming and after a week of taking them me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex he did not ejaculate inside of me, and i have been and am currently taking birth control diane35 for about 3 years now? i also did not realize that amoxicillin alters the effectiveness of birth control.. am i at really high risk for being pregnant? i still have a bit to go till my period would come ..
If a person is on antibiotics and has had an exposure to a bacterial infection(STDs), would the meds help in preventing the infection ? .
I had unprotected oral sex with a CSW yesterday evening. I started on course of amoxicillin for my sinus problems from yesterday morning. If I had contracted gonorrhea or chlamydia from this woman , would the antibiotic help ?. I mean since the bacteria would be incubating now, wouldn't amoxicillin prevent the infection ?.
Me and my boyfriend just had sex the day I started my dosage of amoxicillin 500 mg which I'm suppose to take 3 a day before getting my wisdom teeth pulled. I am on Birth control and have been for awhile but I had no idea that it lowered the effectiveness until it was too late. Could I be pregnant? What's the chance of it? please be specific.
During this time I have had uveitis (lasted for about 4 months) followed by gastritis (8 months), followed by strep throat leading to chronic tonsilitis and re-occuring bronchitis flares for 6 months that triggered asthma and now back to uveitis... Additional meds have been added to treat this, Pred Forte and Prednisone taper (uveitis), Prilosec and various other pump blockers (gastritis), 20days amoxicillin (strep) 10 weeks on amoxicillin (bronchitis), singulair and dulera for asthma.
YES! It can cause diabetes! It is listed as glucose intolerance in the side effects. I went though 8 months of #@!& on nuvaring. I went to the doc because I wad exhausted all of the time, fuzzy brained, and starting to loose my hair. When I asked if it could be the birth control, my question was dismissed. They tried to put me on all of this medication for slightly elevated blood sugar. I refused. I decided to go off the nuvaring, which I was on only for acne.
I researched online to see if Amoxicillin lessened the effectiveness of my Birth Control and it said it could. I had sex the Friday before my period was supposed to start. I still got my period but it was really light and shorter than usual. I stopped my "period" 5 days into my cycle. I started to lightly bleed and it stopped as well. I am having all the symptoms of pregnancy but I took a home pregnancy test and came back as negative. Was it too soon to take the test? Am I pregnant?
I am also allergic to latex and tried the NuvaRing and had quite a severe latex allergic reaction to it. I ripped my Gyno a new one after that happened. I understand that it's technically latex-free, but it contains the same main ingredient as latex (which is what caused the reaction) and I feel that needs to be mentioned on the box at least.
