Amlodipine exercise

Common Questions and Answers about Amlodipine exercise

norvasc

Avatar n tn I've been taking amlodipine besylate (norvasc) for about 1 and a half months. For the last couple of weeks I've been experiencing very strong anxieties, panic attacks, and a totally sleepless night. I'd been on testim for years now as well and wonder if either one or a combination can be causing them.
Avatar f tn amlodipine, sertralive, ASA-LD. Exercise is very difficult for me. What could be causing this? This is kinda scaring me - I don't want to have a DVT...
Avatar n tn I am on 100 mg of Metoprolol (and 5 mg of Amlodipine) for high blood pressure. My pulse gets down to 44-48 but I do not feel faint. Should my Amlodipine be increased and my Metoprolol reduced since beta blockers reduce pulse rate?
Avatar m tn My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s). I've been off the Nebivolol for five days, but I'm still experiencing these side effects. My heart rate has only come back to about 67-68.
Avatar m tn I latter found out that my blood pressure was on the high side averaging 140/90. I tried to exercise this pressure down, healthy eating, no salt, but problem is that sometimes my pressure would spike to levels like 160/110 pulse 150 for a short time of less than 5 minutes and then leave me feeling weak for a few days. Before starting Medication I did ESG, ECHO, cholesterol test, x-ray and blood test. Everything was registering normal.
Avatar m tn I do not really know much about the complications of hypertension or what can be done besides daily exercise. I have a prescription of AMLODIPINE BESYL 2.5 MG tablets. Are there any complications taking this medication for hypertension? I hear that it is bad to take medication because your body gets used to it. I am a 24 year old male, 6 foot tall weighing at 333 lbs. So im assuming it is my weight that is causing my blood pressure to be so high.
Avatar m tn Other than the nitro I am on 10mg of Amlodipine (for about a week) and 1,000 mg of L-Arginine (which I read is good for small vessel disease). I have not been told I am have small vessel disease, but am operating under that assumption. My chest pain has gotten worse and I am profoundly short of breath since increasing the Amlodipine from 5mg to 10mg. My Cardiologist is very disinterested in pursuing this. He has not come out and called me a liar, but treats me like I am making things up.
Avatar m tn In addition to my original post, I am 32 years old, sort of healthy? I'm 280lbs, 6'1, obviously overweight, I am quite muscular due to being very physically fit at one point in my life, so more muscle than flub. I'm slightly inactive although I go through periods of exercise and then no exercise for the past few years. I have asthma and high blood pressure, I'm also being treated for depression and anxiety.
20003202 tn?1488258062 (stopped working), now just Amlodipine 10 mg. Since taking the Amlodipine 10 mg. for about a week, my blood pressure keeps going higher and higher. Today readings were between 160/90 - 165/125. Also, my lower legs are sore, I have dizziness and feel light-headed, and are extremely lethargic. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Is there a cleaner medication with better results and less side effects. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am desperate....
Avatar m tn Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old). Said it could be Atypical Angina that was causing the chest pain but no way to test accurately due to my age and said he he could not tell me it wasn't PAH.
Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
Avatar m tn Due to the Systemic Sclerosis, and the medications you are on, I assume you are being medically managed by a rheumatologist at least every 3 months. Have your past CBCs been normal, or is the elevated RDW a new onset? It sounds like your cardiologist was happy with the baseline echo, with a recommended follow up echo in 5 years.
1102792 tn?1285925260 Your cardiac status, the medications and the exercise level may have been in balance, and the sudden vigorous exercise could have caused an imbalance between the cardiac output and the oxygen demand. Only further work up can help diagnose the cause. Until then follow the protocol suggested by your doctor. And Good Luck. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1102792 tn?1285925260 t get up to grab some drugs cos of severe shortage of breath, what saved me was my wife rushing to the nearest drug store and buyin a ventolin inhaler, franol (ephedrine+theophyline) and prednisolone, i felt better immediately but i still feel the asthma lurking in the backgrounds, especially when the sneezing bouts start, i usually ward it off with ventolin inhaler, i know i shud probably be taking the tablets but that puts alot of stress on my heart since i have chest pains due to hbp with sig
Avatar f tn Hi, my mother is 76 yrs old and has been taking a pill called Envas for high blood pressure control for 15 yrs now. It irritated her throat. So she changed to Amlopress (amlodipine) table - half daily - on another doctor's advice. Her blood pressure (systolic) seems to be rising every day. Yesterday it was 150/80 and today it was 170/80. She is active in managing her home - like cooking, washing clothes and so on. She doesn't exercise beyond that because of her knee arthritis.
Avatar m tn I was on Losartan 50mg which was working fairly well then the nephrologist suggested I switch to Amlodipine 2.5 mg. which he says is better for creatinine levels. I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Tbd Consider doing the DASH diet, as it promotes eating foods that are low in sodium (ex: fresh fish, nuts, legumes, etc). Also consider adding activity to your day if you're not currently active. Exercise can help strengthen your cardiovascular system and improve circulation. Lastly, find ways to lower / manage stressful situations. That could help as well. There are of course, also genetic / hereditary factors that can play a role.
Avatar m tn I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.
Avatar f tn re on the right track with your exercise. Aggressive diet and exercise can often get patients off of their medications altogether, especially if couple with weight loss. Even a small amount of weight loss can lead to significant improvements in blood pressure. Your medication regimen appears appropriate. Keep in mind that going to your doctor may also cause anxiety which can significantly elevated blood pressure.
Avatar m tn I have been told by my doctor my blood pressure is too high and he has put me on Amlodipine tablets.I have just bought a Blood Pressure Monitor but when I use it all readings are different for example these are the six readings I have just taken.160/83,149/81,144/76,138/76,138/73 and 131/76 they were taken in that order.
Avatar f tn I have been contemplating whether to continue managing my hypertension using non-pharmacology techniques or to reinstate a recommended, first line mono therapy of 2.5 mg amlodipine by my doctor. I was diagnosed of hypertension about one year ago. I took 2.5 mg amlodipine daily at 8.00 pm without fail for three months until last July, 19, 2020.
Avatar n tn Are you aware about the combination Valsartan and Amlodipine to treat hypertension in high risk patients? How its is better than Telmisarton and Amlodipine combination?
Avatar f tn They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
Avatar m tn Luckily the doctor I went to recognized the blood pressure medicine I was on (Amlodipine) is known for swelling ankles. The brown discoloration is caused by the swelling. I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since. It may take years for the brown to totally fade.
Avatar m tn I have recently been prescribed Amlodipine-Benaz 5/10 MG capsules for treatment of hypertension. However, my resting pulse rate has consistently been in the 90's and increasing into the 100's at time, so I have been prescribed Carvedilol to help control the heart rate. My question is, doesn't Carvedilol control hypertension as well...Why should I be taking carvedilol in addition to amliodipine?
