Avatar n tn Hello All. I'm really new on the panel and I'm searching for help. In the last two weeks I have not been able to have a BM. My doctor gave me some samples of amitiza 24 mcg. I've been taken them 2 per day for the last 4 days - One at night and another in the A.M. With the 1st tablet I had a BM. I have not had another BM since. It doesn't seem that I'm having any normal digestive sounds or movements. I don't even have the urge to have a BM.
1773179 tn?1314201148 They had me on Amitiza 24 MCG capsules and polyethelene gylcol powder. I took the pills and the powder twice a day. I also ate fiber one cereals and bars. I have always ate alot of fruits and vegetables.
974371 tn?1424653129 I was on 8 mcg twice a day fir about 2 weeks with no improvement. Dose was raised to 24 mcg twice a day and absolutely no improvement. I may have a small BM if I take a dose of Miralax. I am now having some side effects on the higher dose, some chest and throat tightness, worse bloating, more discomfort. Reported this to the doctor (specialist at a university clinic) abpndcwas told to get an EKG done but stay on the med and give it time to work.
Avatar n tn I was taking Linzess and it didn't work and they offer a refund as long as you have your receipt and tell them why, etc.? Do you know if the manufacturer who makes Lubiprostone offers a refund if it doesn't work?
Avatar n tn My daughter has been on Amitiza 8 mg but today it was increased to 24 mg because of chronic constipation. She is only 9 years old. I had to give her an enema and it didn't work. I can't figure out what keeps binding her up.
Avatar m tn Have you tried taking magnesium citrate every morning? Have you tried Amitiza? I have not tried Linzess yet, but Amitiza is pretty good for me. You could try taking walnut hull and wormwood preparation for parasites to see if that helps you.
13586802 tn?1430668002 21 mcIU/mL My endocrinologist said I was probably on too much Armour Thyroid and gave me a sample of Tirosint 75 mcg capsules. I looked up Tirosint on the web and got a little scared as it warned that,"...Atrial fib is a common side effect associated with levothyroxine treatment in the elderly." I don't know how safe it will be for me, admittedly an older person, and worry about PAC's which can lead to a recurrence of atrial fib.
Avatar n tn m dying I went about two weeks without any bowl movement and than when I finally had one I thought I will die on bathroom so I ended up in ER and from there to specialist who had me run three test, blood, the one that they check your muscles on rectum and another one that I had to take a pill that 5 days latter had to have EX-ray after all this the doc puts me on prescription called AMITIZA 24 MCG which made me even worse with stomach pain ( that something that I have non stop ) so he called the
605458 tn?1539228808 My doctor just started me on Amitiza last week following a colonoscopy that was fine. I also have had 2 CT scans; one without contrast and the other with contIrast and nothing showed up there. I had and still have a pain in my right lower abdomen. This AM the nausea was so bad I called the GI group and was told to stop taking the Amitiza for a few weeks and that the most common side effect of the drug is extreme nausea and it should ALWAYS be taken on a full stomach.
Avatar f tn 100 mcg T4 = one grain of desiccated=25 mcg of T3. So by that there would be a 4 to 1 ratio of T4 to T3. That is incorrect. According to scientific studies and also the AACE/ATA Guidelines for Hypothyroidism, the correct ratio is 3 to 1. A grain of desiccated contains 39 mcg of T4 and 9 mcg of T3. So, if you multiply the 9 by 3, according to the 3:1 ratio, and add the 39 mcg of T4, that comes out to be 66 mcg.
Avatar f tn the Amitiza was nit helping the constipation so I was advised to use 24 mcg twice a day. After a few days, no improvement so called and was advised she wanted me to clean myself out but not a colon cleanse. Of course, the next day, my bowels started to move so I am holding off on that for now. Also, started the Gabaoentin and am up to 200 mg per day, to increase to 300 mg after a week, etc until I am taking 600 mg a day. This med is supposed to be for the pain and nausea.
18552345 tn?1472243264 they call it Liothyronine Slow-Release Capsules and they can make the capsules to any strength specified by your doctor. I get 5 mcg capsules. With slow release T3 your FT3 does not spike as high in the hours following your taking the pill; consequently your TSH does not go as low. My TSH is now slightly over 1.0. An ND from Portland, Oregon wrote a good paper describing how he is successfully using T4 plus SRT3. It is easy to find and has a lot of good info for people using a T4-T3 combo.
Avatar n tn Medically, the switch from Tirosint to Levoxyl was totally painless, though I did go from 88 mcg to 100 mcg, but I was ready to do that on Tirosint, as well. I feel as good, or better, than I did on Tirosint. The best part is that my wallet loves the price difference. I just picked up my refill yesterday, so I'm good to go for another 90 days.
Avatar n tn The GI doc put me on Amitiza but did not help so today (a week after my colonoscopy) she took me off Amitiza and started me on 3 Metamucil tablets every morning and 1 Colace, then 1 Colace each night as well. I'm waiting to see what happens next...good luck to you.
Avatar m tn Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.
Avatar f tn Yes, I know I've helped you before, but unfortunately, my memory can't keep track of everyone's stats and meds... lol It takes 4-6 weeks for a new T4 med/dosage to take full effect. That's quite a hefty starting dose on the T3, which is faster acting than T4; could send you to hyper hell pretty quickly. Make sure you're aware of all signs of over medication and be sure to notify your doctor at the first sign.
Avatar f tn You can also try drinking the yogurts that contain the good bacteria and get some capsules that contain the Lactobacillus acidophilus (and the rest) to get the good bacteria into your guts. You are doing right to drink water. 2-3 litres is recommended, more if you sweat, the weather is hot, or you work out at the gym. Doing exercise or simply going for a walk will also help to move your bowels.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if it is ok to release the medicine out of capsules and mix the medicine up in juice? I have a problem swallowing pills and was not sure if this was an option????
