974371 tn?1424653129 Hi, the most reported common side effect of amitiza is diarrhea. It can also cause abdominal distension, nausea and abdominal pain. It can also cause fecal incontinence. Like your doctor suggested you can continue this medications for a few more days before you give up this medication. Regards.
Avatar n tn My daughter began amitiza and it has worked wonderfully, however, she is spotting in between periods. Is this common?
605458 tn?1539228808 I wasn't told to do that. But I usually try to take it with my meal. Memory is bad and I take it when I can remember it.
Avatar n tn May seem silly but being a fully time student and working over full time, every minute is precious and let alone not being in pain all day, every day, I will give credit to Amitiza and would recommend it to anyone experiencing IBS. If anyone has any questions, I would be more then willing to answer them.
329994 tn?1301663248 I have been on it for a year I cant go to the bathroom without taking it, but strangely enough only if I take it in the mornings does it seem to work if I take it with evening meals no BM, but if I take it with Breakfast seems to work, no chest pain or ill effects, but have overpowering urge to go but beats weeks of constipation, I praise the difference it has made for me.
Avatar m tn I do not have a large intestine, had surgery 13 years ago. at the place small colon is connected i had a CT scan which says i have a stricture and scarring. I am having terrible bloating and cannot eat any large meal, also can't do fiber, gluten or carbs. Any suggestions. I take amitiza twice a day and drink miralax every night with prune juice. this has ruined my life. it has just gotten worse over the last 6 months.
Avatar m tn In response to your question of amitiza (sorry)had no effect not has linzess supposedly the newest and greatest. Still suffering!!!!
Avatar f tn This looks like "official" matter. What meds are in question? Colonoscopy showed something? IBS is not a disease at all, and there's no drugs for IBS, as I know (my opinion). Zelnorm was even withdrawn from the (U.S.) market last year, now it might be back again.
Avatar m tn Actually, you said right thigh. Mine is in the left thigh. Constipation would tend to cause this in the left thigh more often than the right thigh. You need to have your abdomen examined. You might have a cyst or something over there, pressing on the anterolateral cutaneous nerve.
Avatar m tn Also take Lactulose and Amitiza. However, in order to take the Amitiza must take a nausea pill before and after. Often times still have nausea with the Amitiza and not convinced it helps all that much. I've been at this for 8 yrs and have done everything but stand on my head. Without pills and powder - bowel movements are difficult and every 3-5 days. And only partial. EXTREMELY bloated. Have difficulty fitting into street clothes later in the day. Makes work life and social life difficult.
2102085 tn?1350866645 I went to a gastroenterologist the next day and she thought it was IBS and prescribed me Amitiza and Bentyl. I have been on the Amitiza and it makes me have frequent watery BMs...and the Bentyl does not do much. The pain is constant and I feel like I'm pregnant I'm so bloated (I'm not!) could this really just be IBS? Could the pain be reproductive (i.e. ovarian cysts) I'm going to school for nursing and it is really interfering with my education...
1168718 tn?1464983535 Also, I used to never have bloating and pain in between those movements... But, in the last few months my stomach stays distended, I cramp until I double over, and nothing seems to help... My doctor said it's a combination of the MS and the medication... That sure doesn't help much... He put me on Amitiza which is for IBS but I can't tell that it's helped much... He did tell me today to up my dose so we will see how that goes...
Avatar n tn I did and its been a month and it still hasnt healed. Having trouble with constipation and I am on amitiza. Any advice is welcome. As well, my doctor told me to take a stool softner twice a day to. Thinking about starting to eat soup.
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy and found out I have a large duodenal ulcer with partial outlet obscrtuction. Can I take Amitiza with this ulcer?I was supposed to have a colonoscopy but I couldn't get completely clear.I was put on a drug to help heal the ulcer and a proton pump inhibitor.I just want to know if it is safe to amitiza.I am on opiods so I need it.
Avatar f tn Also, when a treatment gets approved in the States, it takes some time for it to be approved in Canada as we are behind the U.S.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any names of docs in Canada who deal with AD. We were vacationing in Australia, both got bit by jellyfish. I had AD for 3 months and it went away. He still has it after 2 years. He was healthy, young 35 yr old with no health issues. It's crazy, I could make a movie out of our experience. Any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am a sixteen year old girl and i have been having stomach pain for about 9 months now. the pain is usually in the upper left side and radiates out. sometimes it feels like someone is squeezing my upper intestines and my rib feels like its popping in and out of place. my symptoms are weight loss, severe constipation, headaches, bloating, gas, and loss of appetite.
Avatar m tn As a teenager, I one time had horrible experience of chest pain during school and later found out it was tachycardia. Afterwards, I began to experience chest discomfort and 2-3 attacks a year. In thinking that heart ablation would treat the pain, I had surgery several years later. I no longer have tachycardia attacks but continued to develop main all over, basically starting from the chest down to the back and head. Now, I have muscle fatigue and discomfort everywhere.
Avatar f tn It does NOT lead to cancer or mean that one is pre-disposed to develop cancer. This condition may sometimes make having a colonoscopy difficult and in extreme cases may prevent the practitioner who is performing the colonoscopy from being able to examine the entire colon. If you are having bowel symptoms always tell your physician and let her/him decide the next step.
