thanks for the quick response I don't think i've developed a tolerance but it is worth checking out what type of drug is loramet! Do you take sleep meds every night? I do and cannot sleep without them.

d try one and then the other before trying them both together. For me, the ambien (zolpidem) works just fine although it does not give me long sleep time. It's not like it knocks me out for 8 hours.

I have taken 10 mg Zolpidem (Ambien) for years as it really helps me sleep. But I think it may be causing my tinnitus. The only way to be sure of this is to stop taking it for a time and see if tinnitus goes away. So far, I have not taken any for 11 nights and tinnitus is still the same. - A pretty much constant low-pitched noise. How long would I have to stay off Zolpidem before knowing whether or not it is the culprit?

s more than likely more related to the lack of sleep or lack of GOOD sleep than it is the Ambien itself. The Ambien will sometimes make me a bit dizzy/lightheaded if I get up out of bed after taking it, but it does not last long and I figure it's related to what the Ambien is pretty much supposed to be doing!

Not to sound stjpid, but how does one abuse ambien. It puts you to sleep...so what is the benefit of taking more?

I was on it for years, and I did stop CT and used melatonin and Allteril instead. I actually find the Allteril works better for sleep than the Ambien did.

There is lot of mixed reaction from the users of Zolpidem to help sleep, it has done wonders in few people while few are not satisfied with its use or the side effects of the drug and its dependence. Your brain has been re-programmed (by way of the Ambien) to go into sleep mode so it may take a few nights of waking up and not sleeping through but I think it is manageable. Better to do it now then to wait any longer. That stuff made me crazier than a loon. I didn't sleep from it. I got up in the middle of the night and cooked full dinners without remembering. Just what I needed--spaghetti and meatballs at 3 am.

I take Zolpidem for sleep every night. I don't take Lyrica but take Gaba, flexeril and Clonazepam. The Zolpidem puts me out very well, but I still wake up with pain throughout the night like you mention. I take the 10 mg with 1mg of Clonazapam. Can you ask him for a anti-anxiety medication to take with the sleeper? Maybe ativan which has a shorter half life (I think---I'm not a doctor)?

You really should be under a doctors care to taper and w/d from the ambien. And I doubt any over the counter sleep aid will help you. You are going to have to make your mind up to get off of it and be strong. I have a website that has lots of info if you want it.

even tylenol pm is recommended for short term only...u can become psychologically dependent or physically on some sleep meds...ambien is not as notorious for physical addiction as benzos but it does happen to soem....i have taken ambien off and on for over ten years without a problem...but i do know people who have had a problem..

I have been on this drug for the shortest amount of time (2 months, going on 3) but I feel that tolerance is already an issue with ambien, but apart from another benzo or non-beno z-drug what else is there? If 10mg zolpidem won't put me out would it be of any use to try ambien CR? 6.25 mg. is not going to put me out...that's is for sure.

I feel for you, my doctor give me Zolpidem 10mg which is the generic for Ambien. There is also an Ambien CR. If you get it read the warnings carefully as its a very contravercial medicine.
