Common Questions and Answers about Zolpidem and ambien

ambien

Avatar m tn I have suffered from insomnia for about 3 years now and have tried trazadone and zolpidem tartrate. I am currently on zolpidem 10 mg. I do not have trouble maintaining sleep just onset. Usually this occurs 3-4 nights a week and can lay awake for 2-4 hours before falling asleep. This causes me to be extremely tired the next day. I really avoid taking naps and can "power" through the day only to feel wide awake come bed time around 11-12 pm.
Avatar f tn i have been using ambien for many years now. i used the ambien and it's generic form zolpidem. it has always work up until two months ago when apparently the pharmacy changed suppliers. i took the little round purle pill up until then and now i take a white oval one. This one does not seem to be working as well and the side effect just seem wierd Does anyone think that the new manufacturer product is inferior and has anyone experienced this?
Avatar n tn She is sleep/wake having conversations she doesnt remember and and having conversations with us that did not happen, Sleep walking, cleaning.... Is this common and should Ambien be prescribed to teens with PTS?
Avatar f tn I was on it for years, and I did stop CT and used melatonin and Allteril instead. I actually find the Allteril works better for sleep than the Ambien did.
4149717 tn?1389503561 Hey Teresa, Yes, I have been on and off ambien for years and even abused them during my vic detox (bad idea btw). Having said that, with the recommended dose prescribed, I was always able to stop no problem, except it would take me 3 nights until my sleep returned. For me anyway, it was nothing like coming off of hydro's or benzo's. I will say though, it does mess with your memory and makes ya do crazy stuff and not remember any of it. Hope this helps.
491910 tn?1209366193 then 30...and so on until its 5 then jump off. I have ambien, rozerem scripts myself but stopped the ambien and made it a once a week or less thing because it can be bad news. You might want to see if the Dr will switch you to say lunesta and see if you can use that while getting off ambien or when you tapered low enough to jump and switch. Good luck.
1564517 tn?1314346323 I have been on Ambien for 4 years now and have been through HELL and still trying to get out of it. Its not that it is really addictive (because I will take anything if it helps me sleep) but it becomes very habit forming especially to those of us who have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep.I tried Seroquel but it didn't work well for me.
Avatar n tn Doing a Taper is not a bad idea if thats what your Dr suggested but As selfinduced and NG said, the only real issue you will have is rebound insomnia for a few days. I have taken ambien off and on for many years and have been on it for 4 months at a time before. I was taking 15 mg a night and stopped taking it all together without any issues besides having a few nights with limited sleep. You will be fine not sleeping much for a few days.
Avatar f tn There is lot of mixed reaction from the users of Zolpidem to help sleep, it has done wonders in few people while few are not satisfied with its use or the side effects of the drug and its dependence. Ambien is meant for short-term use and not for years. I would like to suggest you to consult a sleep doctor and discuss the other options for alternate drugs. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar m tn My wife has been Zolpidem (generic Ambien) for 20+ yrs. She recently took a job in China and has been told the ultrasound show 'fatty infiltration of the liver'. She is 50 yrs old and drinks only occasionally and excercises and eats well/healthy for the most part. Could her long-term use of Zolpidem have contributed to this liver problem?
Avatar m tn My dad has been taking Zolpidem for over 3 years and recently I found out Zolpidem is used for treating short term insomnia. I'd like to know if it can be used for long term and if whether there are any medications available which can be used for long term treatment.
Avatar n tn Not sure the clonidine and ambien are both used to help with sleep in the evenings. the only thing I can see that might cause the restlessness is "(sleeping most of the day)". The mental confusion may be caused by not sleeping the meds off at night. If you think the problem is because of the medication try eliminating one of the two for a night or so and see if the problem subsides... other than that I'd say talk to the doctor.
Avatar m tn I can tell you from experience, both Ambien and Ambien CR are notorious for causing odd behavior. I had to quit taking Ambien CR after it stated causing anxiety and pacin attack issues. Regular Ambien caused my husband to rise an hour after going to sleep and go down to our garage and work on his bike until 3:30 AM, when I realized he wasn't in bed and found him downstairs asleep.
480448 tn?1426948538 Zolpidem is commonly found in both generic and name-brand sleep aids. Ambien and Ambien CR are probably the most recognizable prescriptions that contain zolpidem, but it is also found in Zolpimist and Edluar, according to the FDA's statement. Here is some of the key information to have emerged regarding the FDA's decision.
Avatar n tn He is no where near what he was before but I cannot deny the possible connection with Ambien and his recent improvement. We and his dr intend on keeping him on it as long as we see improvements. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I have taken 10 mg Zolpidem (Ambien) for years as it really helps me sleep. But I think it may be causing my tinnitus. The only way to be sure of this is to stop taking it for a time and see if tinnitus goes away. So far, I have not taken any for 11 nights and tinnitus is still the same. - A pretty much constant low-pitched noise. How long would I have to stay off Zolpidem before knowing whether or not it is the culprit?
1201433 tn?1328997637 Hi, I was on Lunesta for the entire tx and it worked great. Ambien comes in two forms one is extended ambien, do you know which one you are on? You should talk to your Dr about which one you are on.I took regular ambien long before tx and it didn't work too well for me either. Best of luck....

Avatar n tn AMBIEN 12.5 MG, or ZOLPIDEM TARTRATE 12.5 MG SA Tab September 2, 2013 Yesterday afternoon I asked my wife; who installed the new vanity, sink, and mirrors in our rental unit upstairs; which was accomplished, only three days ago; as I could not remember. Avatar f tn I would binge eat, order stuff online and sometimes even drive?! How scary...get off of that and maybe have your dr try and have you take something else that would be better for you!
Avatar f tn Today I also realized that I have been taking Ambien (Zolpidem) on and off since I quit Trams. Could the Zolpidem be affecting me this way or is this a normal process of Tramadol healing? Today is just really bad, that is why I posted. I have such a hard time with things. For example, Before I go grocery shopping I will make a list of everything, but when I am at the store, I just walk up and down the aisles and can't even think straight. This is not normal!
