Common Questions and Answers about Ambien get high

ambien

Avatar n tn Well I've been taking clonazepam 1mg for about 18 months now, almost everyday (well every now and then for a couple months, but usually everyday) - and I also took ambien 20mg for about 3 years. I stopped the ambien 2-3 weeks ago and didn't notice any changes really, except I felt a little better and I've been a lot more entertaining/funny around my friends.
10515800 tn?1419227034 Has anyone taken this while pregnant? I just left l&d and my doctor gave me two.... it's for sleep. But I feel like I'm high....and last time I took this I hallucinated. I didn't know it was the same stuff before I took it. And I only took one last time I took this 2 years ago.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the info - it helps a lot. I don't think anyone out there really has experience with ambien cessation, at least I'm not finding many that have taken it long term and then successfully discontinued. Did the clonidine help you sleep? It doesn't look like a very pleasant drug, but its list of side effects are very mild compared to trazodone. I've only been on the trazodone for four days, and mornings are still pretty rough. may talk to Dr.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know a capable doctor in Florida who can help someone taper off of Ambien and Xanax - Tampa area?
Avatar n tn r u sure it is the ambien? it could be a mixture? all 3 drugs aggravate depression and out of the 3 ambien is categorized as the least addictive of the three drugs u r taking.....i would talk to my doctor and find another alternative for sleep....taking these every night could get u into trouble..have u tried the natural sleep aids like melatonin, valerian, etc?
Avatar f tn Anyway my supply has been cut and I am nervous but glad. I need desperately to get off this stuff, I feel tired and forgetful and I want my safe and happy life back. Can someone please help? I am on Prozac 20mg and have 10 x 15 mg tabs left as well as Valium, Ambien and Xanax and Codiene. Could someone with a bit more knowledge let me know how I can make this less difficult - I cut down to 5 tabs yesterday and got diarreahea and felt awful...
Avatar m tn I feel like I'm in no place to give advice here, as I'm back on my Vics and beginning to plan a taper, however, the last time I went through detox I know that Xanax helped with my anxiety and Ambien did help with my sleep. I have heard all the Thomas Recipes suggestions but I just felt that after being a heavy opiate user and going c/t they just did nothing to help me. I wish they did.
Avatar f tn t stand it anymore and my anxiety is at an all time high lately. It seems a few times a week I have started to take my xanax to help me to sleep. I know I shouldn't and now It seems that isn't even helping much. The doctor said I should try ambien and gave me a rx that I have not gotten filled yet. Has anyone tried this and how did they react. Please any input would be helpful.
Avatar m tn I took Ambien years ago for a longg period. I became tottaly addicted. I had to get detoxed in a mental hospital ward. It went very well in 5 days i was cured. Anyway WOULD I GET INSTANTLY ADDICTED AGAIN FROM 1 PILL? I heard if you have been addicted to an opiate pain killer b4. You can or will get instantly addicted again from 1 pill or a single dose. Would this happen with Ambien? I realy need to know.
491910 tn?1209366193 Hi. I probably cant tell you anything you havent heard before. I can relate though, my doc told me that ambien and some antidepressants werent addictive either. I didnt realize they were until I quit c/t and went thru wd's. Ambien wasnt really a problem for me, just a lot of sleepness nights. If you're only taking them at night, and not really having a lot of problems with them, you might not need to quit right away.
Avatar f tn Thanks Ricart, I was in a panic over the ambien. What a relief it is to get over that!!!! It is like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I didn't feel like I was really Clean until I quit those. I'm going to give the amitriptyline about a month and hopefully I can get off it. Thanks for the support and information.
Avatar n tn ve gone as much as 10-15 days in a row, and as much as 30 days inbetween. Your body will get used to the Ambien, but it is not addictive. If you take it for a few days in a row, then you will have a night or two where it is more difficult to fall asleep. It is important to note that ANY drug can be psycholgically addictive, but Ambien DR has a very safe profile, does not typically cause any withdrawal symptoms like opiates do...from my experience.
Avatar n tn Ambien will help you get some sleep so yes I would say it is good. I worked for a Dr. before and the highest dose I saw given was a total of 12mg. So if the tab was 6mg then the patient could take 2. Taking 2 10mg of ambien seems a little high to me.Maybe someone else could answer better than me. I am one of those people that ambien doesn't work. I have tried Ambien cr, Lunesta (sp?) and regular Ambien and still couldn't get any sleep.
Avatar f tn Benzodiazepine withdrawal could be very dangerous and has high risks of seizures. Ambien has numerous side effects as well including hallucinations. You should consult with a doctor before managing any prescription intake of withdrawal .
6074055 tn?1378958419 I don't feel tired anymore after taking Ambien for 3 years. I just got off of Ambien 2 months ago. I tapered my dose the right way. I feel like there is something wrong with my brain because i never feel tired or sleepy. I don't have any withdrawal symptoms other than not feeling tired. I feel very alert and awake. I cant sleep at all at night. I only get maybe an hour or 2 of very light sleep. It doesn't matter if i sleep a little bit or none i still wont feel tired or exhausted.
Avatar m tn I am horribly addicted to ambien. And before anyone says this, I am seeing my dr. tomorrow. But I wanted to see if anyone has had experience overcoming ambien addictions. I have been taking it almost every night for a year. I am treated for depression with wellbutrin and celexia. I think the ambien started to become a problem this summer, when I would take it on days that were particularly bad and I was anxious.
Avatar m tn So i got a new Rolling Stone magazine - yeah - just an old hippie ----- but the article in it was concerning ambien.....apparently a new craze is to take an ambien with a couple red bulls to override the sleep effect.....only you need some friends around to tell you what you did while buzzed? Not sure I want anyone to tell me what I might do in that state.........I already have some non - red bull ambien stories...............
Avatar n tn listen to the peeps about melatonin...works great, no weird side affects and u don't get dependent on it.....use it to taper down off Ambien. U can even start it on a low dose of Ambien and that might help taper....although I wouldn't exceed 1 mg.
Avatar n tn By now, I'm hoping you've conquered getting the Ambien monkey off of your back. I am on day 5 of Ambien withdrawl. The first 72 hours were pretty bad: zero sleep, sweats, severe stomach pain, headache, neckache and backache, diarrhea, nausea. I cold-turkeyed it as I wanted off Ambien ASAP. Was up to nearly 20 mgs a night every night for sleep for two months.
176889 tn?1234352582 t sleep and it drove me NUTS so I took a little valium for that and then found that ambien works much better and I never liked valium much anyways... my trigger for opiate addiction is PAIN, so I started noticing that a little ambien in the day helps ease the pain... of course it also puts me to sleep so my energy levels take a dive which is a killer... So am I relapsing or what??
Avatar f tn I want to quit taking xanax and ambien. I have been on both for a few years. I also take Subxone. I take 12.5 mg of ambien and .5mg of xanax 2 or 3 times per day. Can I quit cold turkey without? I have heard xanax withdrawal can cause seizures,, but am not sure if my dose is high enough to worry about that.
Avatar f tn I am in the same boat but I have taken it a bit further. I am 5 months pregnant and still can not get off the Ambien. I ended up putting myself in rehab after about 1 yr and a half on it because I would take 2 to go to sleep and then wake up to an empty bottle and my hair colored and all kinds of stuff. I got off the Ambien but ended up on xanax and used that the same way. For me I feel I am not addicted to Ambien but I am addicted to sleep.
