Avatar m tn This time I went to Urologist. He suspected Prostatitis and asked me to undergo TRUS (Trans-rectal Ultrasonic). The finding was Chronic Inflammation in Prostate region and also calcification in ejaculatory duct. The urologist put me on daily dose of Minocycline Hydrochloride. He also gave me Alfuzosin Hydrochloride (alpha blocker) as a suppliment, but later advised me against it as I started feeling heavy headedness and tiredness. In the meantime, I had intercourse with my wife.
Avatar f tn I finished 3 courses of antibiotics in last two months, levofloxasin, norfloxasin, and Cefixime. Then I showed to a urologist in the last week and he put me on 30 days course of Alfuzosin. Not sure if is the antibiotics or the Alfuzosin that has worked but I am feeling 90% better now but the frequent urination persists. Erection feels uncomfortable and still mild pain at the penis tip sometimes.
Avatar m tn I decided to go to a urologist (UR1) who said it was abacterial prostatitis and/or peripheral neuropathy. To treat it, he gave me a two week prescription of Alfuzosin (alpha blocker to help promote blood flow to the prostate) and a one week MethylPred pack (steroid). After finishing the meds in early January the pain was still getting worse. I read up some on peripheral neuropathy, and tried massaging the tip of the penis a few times a day and also applying Capzasin a couple times.
Avatar n tn I'm a 37 year old male of average height and weight. I do not smoke, drink just as much as anyone else. Maybe several beers a week. Roughly two years ago I started experiencing pain in my left testicle. After visiting the doctor he diagnosed me with Epididymitis. I was prescribed a round of anitbiotics and after 30 days it appeared to go away. This started in April and was cleared up by July. Following year, same thing. In April began having that pain along with some difficulty sitting.
Avatar m tn told me to try ibuprofen 3 times a day for 3 weeks, it did nothing. He put me on alpha blocker (alfuzosin) 2 weeks ago and it has done nothing. Pics of enflamed urethra and white spot on penis head in my profile. I retested for all common STDs at 12 weeks and was negative for everything (HIV, HSV-1, HSV-2, gonorrhea, chlamydia, Syphilis, and trich). Is this a yeast infection? Or is this some uncommon STD that my GP and Urologist can't identify? Should I go to an STD clinic?
Avatar m tn Hello, Flomax is used for the treatment of BPH and if you are having side effects to this drug then you can use other alpha blockers like doxazosin, terazosin, alfuzosin or 5 alpha reductase inhibitors like finasteride and dutasteride. Effects may take longer to appear than alpha blockers, but they persist for many years. But they are available under prescription and should always be taken under a medical guidance. I sincerely hope that helps.

Avatar f tn Medications called alpha one adrenergic antagonist are usually prescribed for the stent discomfort. They are terazosin, doxazosin, tamsulosin and alfuzosin. Sometimes anticholinergic medications like oxybutynin (ditropan), detrol or vesicare may help. Please consult your doctor, he will prescribe appropriate medications for you. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn Many patients are wrongly identified as prostatic hyperplasia and chronic prostatitis. Although prostatic hyperplasia is very just like chronic prostatitis during the early stage, they may be two different diseases. What are the symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia and chronic prostatitis? How to distinguish between prostatic hyperplasia and chronic prostatitis?
Avatar m tn Herpes simplex can cause prostatitis. However, have you had herpes symptoms? Been tested for herpes either by swab or blood test?
Avatar m tn Can prostatitis be treated completely? Does prostatitis result in prostate type of cancer? The relationship between prostatitis and prostate type of cancer really are a common question. Is there any correlation involving the two disease? The exact source of prostate cancer is still unclear and may even be in connection with genetic changes.
Avatar m tn Hi Tony, There can be a difference in prostatitis and prostatitis due to an infection. I have had numerous stituations where I had prostatitis but no infections were found. My doctor usually did blood tests and I believe that PSA lvels were a part of the blood tests. Most of the times I was treated according to the symptoms that I had at them time. In my case there was the problem of not being able to completely empty my bladder because of me having a neurogenic bladder.
Avatar m tn The therapy that you received would cure common STDs and your more recent Your continuing symptoms are more consistent with prostatitis than with an STD. Prostatitis is rarely caused by STD pathogens and can cause exactly the sorts of symptoms that you describe. Direct pressure such as comes with a bicycle seat can make things a bit worse. Urologists often care for persons with prostatitis, as do some internists.
Avatar n tn i guess the doctor said that reoccurring infections are common and he needs to build up resistance to it. does this sound familiar or accurate? i have been reading about prostatitis, and sounds similar. is there anything to be done other than antibiotics and antifungal cream?
Avatar n tn Hi Antibiotic therapy is given for acute/chronic bacterial Prostatitis, but it is also used in non bacterial Prostatitis. Which type of Prostatitis do you have? The duration of antibiotic therapy depends upon the type of prostatitis; for acute it may be for few weeks, chronic is for 6-12 weeks. You can discuss with your doctor about other antibiotics such as doxycycline, sulfa drugs or ofloxacin.
Avatar m tn hi im a man who is only 22 years old.. and im suffering of prostatitis.. im having pain in my prostate... andi having burning when i go to pee and i have to push hard sometimes to pee... this is very sad :(...... im having this problem for 6 month and i dont knw what to do.. can anybody can help me plz..........
Avatar m tn I have chronic prostatitis. It's at least slightly symptomatic 70% of the time, and I've learned to deal with it 95%. You get used to anything. I pee frequently, and pretty urgently. Usually, ejaculation is accompanied by a heavy feeling afterwards, and I have to pee immediately. The last week, I've been experiencing a dry ache that's more subtle but more annoying, accompanied by a vastly reduced sense of urgency.
Avatar n tn HI, I had prostatitis two years ago, went to several doctors while I was in Iraq and after thirty days on 100mg twice a day doxy a doctor gave me 500mg once daily Cipro. It went away. I recently began having the same symptoms but now with the added pain at the area where the head of my penis and the shaft meet. I only normally feel the sharp pain when I'm in the shower and the water hits the area directly. I had a colonoscopy 2 1/2 weeks ago and my prostate was enlarged.
