The prescription drug Fosamax (the generic is alendronate sodium) is a medication which has been prescribed to hundreds of thousands of postmenopausal women to treat osteoporosis and help increase bone mass thereby reducing the chance of spinal or non-spinal fractures. Fosamax has also been prescribed to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis. Brand name Fosamax is manufactured in the United States by Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc.
The authors examined the effects of high-dose oral alendronate (40 mg daily) for 6 months on 3 adult patients with intractable headache due to fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Each patient had disease processes not amenable to surgery. The patients underwent clinical follow-up at 1, 3, and 6 months. Their pain levels were documented at each visit by using a visual analog scale. All 3 patients demonstrated a significant decrease in pain levels and became independent of scheduled analgesics.
thankyou,i am with contact of my doctor ,he said there is no solution for damaged vertibras,but calcium and vitiman d and alendronate sodium/cholecaiciferol tablets will help spine and bones from further damages but what to do with prednisones i cant stop them because of asthma and taking of them will damage other bones isnt there any other solution instead of prednisones, i know there is nothing accept these because my doctor told me:(
Aldi store has low sodium bread which is yummy. Called Simply Nature. Is in a blue bag with red letters.Sprouted 7 grain. Is 70 mg sodium for one slice and 60 calories. Get a couple cuz they are sometimes out. Also Walmart has bread too. Forget the name. I think its called Fiber One. Very low on sodium. Get a couple and freeze one. I never can eat tuna or sardines cuz too high in sodium. At chinese restarant i tell em no salt/no sauce. I use sweet duk sauce to flavor. Works good.

Now that paragraph pretty much sums up the common causes of cramps. Magnesium is the boss of calcium, potassium and sodium and vitamin D. Mess with magnesium and you mess with all of them. I know!

This is when I noticed the swelling. I also take hydrocodone 10/325 for break thru pain and 70 mg of methadone for pain. Didrex to help lose weight. Currently I am enrolled in a program to have weight loss surgery. However, my thyroid is not regular so until my synthroid starts working & my thyroid is regular for six months the surgeon will not perfom the WLS. Please help! I am a widow & raising my 16 year old daughter.
Around 3/1 I noticed a severe decrease in hearing in my right ear, along with ringing and a muffled feeling. Went to the ENT and I'm on 60 mg./day of Prednisone. Returned to the ENT today and my hearing is worse. Word recognition has declined, too. He offered options of steriod injections in the eardrum or continued oral steriods for another two weeks. Everything I read online says to take 60 mg. of pred for 14 days, then taper (I read somewhere five days at 50, 40, 30, 20, 10).

I took my first dose of Alendronate and then experience significant muscle pain for the next 4 days. Does anyone know if I should expect this to happen each time I take it or is it something to happen for the first few times until my body adjusts to the medicine?
Do you mean Fosamax (alendronate)? If you do, its for treating bone problems like Osteoperosis by adding bone mass and slows bone loss. I use it for Osteopenia.
If you have high BP really watch your sodium intake...since i did my BP dropped to an average of 110/70. It hides everywhere, not just in table salt. For example 2 tablespoons of Sonnys B-B-Q sauce has 500 mg of sodium and we are allowed 1800-2400 a day. Dennys mozzerella sticks have about 5400 mg. You'll be amazed at how much sodium is in things, especially if you eat out. try looking at resturant nutrient menu websites before you go out to eat to see your options.
