There is no way of telling from here whether it made the fracture worse. I all depends on the fracture itself. When the fracture has sharp edges, it can easily damage surrounding tissue. When the bone parts are still connected (more a crack than a fracture) damage will not be done.
Are you sure that the femur was broken? that is the bone between hip and knee, so not in the bottom of the leg!

I fractured my femur (comminuted - open fracture) 4 years ago in a car accident. I have had an intramedullary nail in for the whole time (changed once) and 5 operations in total, including 2 bone grafts onto the fracture site.
The situation now is that I am in a little pain (mainly due to a 1 inch shortening of the leg), but overall not in a bad position (i go cycling and am reasonably active). However, xrays show that the bone is still not united - see photo.

I am a fourty six yr old female that has been on crutches for twenty five yrs because i was in a car wreak back in 1988 and I had a compound fracture on my right femur I have had sevaral surgery on it but failed everytime. I have not gave up hope to one day get off crutches. i havent had a surgery four about six yrs now so i was wondering if anyone has had a non-union that has not healed and if they have came out with something new in the medical field last few yrs that they can try?
I fractured my left femur and a compound open fracture of my right ankle and also fractured my left tibia. during therapy they told me in order for the femur break to heal I needed put all my weight on that fracture. after doing that an hour letter while getting out of the car the pain was so severe on my left thigh severe muscle spasm kept me in the car for over 2 hours. Hi--I had an MRI of the right hip due to right hip pain following some recent trauma. The results were (R) hip joint effusion and bone marrow edema involving the neck and head of the femur. The possibility of underlying occult fracture is suggested. All else normal. Recommended to see a orthropedic specialist. Any opinions as to the meaning of these results and what can a orthro M.D. do?
I had a compound fracture of the ulna along with a distal ulna fracture and fractured radius in march of 2015. Three plates and screws were installed and after a year and a half it was discovered that the ulna had not completely healed. I had an additional surgery that included a cadaver bone graft and new ulnar plate. I recently took a patient to a dr and he had to have xrays. We had to help hold the leg due to a femur fracture. Without me knowing it, the radiologist quickly snapped the xrays. My husband was alo in the room and we are trying to concieve. The xray was directly on the person's knee and I was to the side of it while my husband was at the other side. What damage could this have done?? Please help!
Before 4 months on 7th December I had an accident and I had fracture in femur, undisplaced fractures in lamina and pedicle of c5 vertebrae, upper superior facet of c6 vertebrae, right frontal sinus, right maxillary sinus and a displaced fracture in mandibular subcondyle. After 2 months I started experiencing vibrations only in my back when I flex my neck, so I met a neurologist and had an mri of my cervical vertebrae.
He is only just off his crutches but has been able to bend his knee for a while now, it was probably only a few weeks after he came home when he could do it. Keep at it if thats what youve been advised but be aware that a femur fracture will take a long time to recover from, even kids take a long time to bounce back.
