Aldara ointment

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara ointment

aldara

Avatar m tn he said try some hydrocortisone ointment on the area and that sometimes the irritaion from aldara can take about 30days to 5 weeks to diminish.. so i guess its just the waiting game. seems to be getting better.
Avatar n tn I have had no problems with them and have had sex with my wife for years with no problems. Recently I read about a cream called Aldara for warts that said applying this cream 3 times a week could eliminate warts and that the sides effects were mild. I thought i would order it and try it, thinking it couldn't hurt if it wasn't a wart. I applied the cream as instructed every other day for about 2 weeks ( 6 or 7 applications).
Avatar m tn I have been using aldara for about a month on my genital warts and have had no burning or tenderness that I have heard people talk about on these forums. It has been working great and I am noticing my warts are starting to shrink. The other morning after using my aldara cream overnight I noticed a lump under my skin where I applied some aldara. It is very tender to touch and very noticeable.
Avatar m tn Is this normal to put Aldara over an un-healed wound? Can I apply a tripple anti-biotic ointment to the wounds on days when I'm not using Aldara? Sorry for all the questions, thanks for any help.
Avatar m tn i have had a few genital warts for the past year and a half. i have had them burned off with TCA, liquid nitrogen, cut a few off myself, and tried aldara. anyways can HPV cause my penis to be red, dry and feel like its constantly burning? its driving me insane. my dermatologist said it just looks like irritation maybe from the aldara and to give it more time (try some hydrocortizone ointment) but its been about 2 months and its ruining my sex life and my life. Any help??
Avatar f tn It's called Triamcinolone acetonide ointment USP, 0.1% is it ok to continue with this ointment or could it cause complications. It seems to be working, or it could just be that the bumps are finally going away on their own.
Avatar m tn ive had a few genital warts burned off with liquid nitrogen/TCA and aldara. im thinking the aldara (i also put vitamin e on it to try to "protect" the healthy skin - didnt work at all) is what got this started somehow even though its not where i put the cream that burns. its cramping my sex life hardcore. any advice?
Avatar m tn Apply warm compresses,Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it. You can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen. If the lump persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a gynecologist as you may need incision and drainage. Also then herpes sores should be ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn I've gotten tested for Herpes and came back negative for HSV-2 but positive for HSV-1. I've used Aldara in the past on a lesion that was burned off, but stopped after 3-4 weeks of use. I've read online that Aldara has a tendency to burn the skin and my dermatologist also mentioned that she has noticed that Aldara always irritates the penis in the location where mine is irritated. I have tried applying 1% hydrocortizone cream with no luck.
Avatar n tn She told me that they aren't genital warts because of the way they looked and told me that it looks like Molluscum Contagiosum virus. She even perscribed me a topical ointment called Aldara to use every other day on the spots. It's been a little over a month and there is no improvement. I am so self conscious about these bumps and they're now spreading down my upper thighs. I'm going to the bahamas in December and I want to be able to wear a swim suit on the beach.
Avatar m tn He said i had something from sexual contact( he used a medical term) and he gave me 3 months worth of aldara so right away i think oh great gential warts. So i use it for 3 months. Nothing happen didnt even clear one. So i go back and they give me stuff for an infection i got. Redness, skin peeling etc. so i use it and it looked like it worked after a week and now that i stopped using it its back again. I was wondering if it could possibly be irriatation from something?
Avatar n tn Doctor has tried freezing it off several times, but it always comes back. Recently I was prescribed Aldara for small warts on hand, but was told it could be used for genital warts also. I took it upon myself to try freezing the wart off with on OTC product, then follow up with Aldara to see if the combo treatment would remove the wart for good (I do understand there are no guarantees that the wart won't come back even if they are visibly gone).
Avatar m tn as long as you dont scratch it and keep it clean itll go away faster and itll be a less of a chance to not spread it.. ive been using this ointment called Triamcinolone acetonide ointment USP, 0.1% .. it seems to be helping me.. my bumps have been getting smaller.. and they arent itchy at all.. i googled and didnt see anything about not being able to use it.. but its really starting to make it go away... and i use cortizone cream when its really itchy.. you can also use the cream called aldara.
Avatar m tn I've had genital warts burnt off underneath the head of my penis, I've had reactions to the aldara cream but now those are pretty much under control. My concern now is that when I pull my foreskin back to clean myself, it ******* hurts. its like its swollen, somewhat-dry, and it hurts. I've heard horror stories of men having to be circumcized because of complications with the foreskin. Should I be putting on lotion? anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.
Avatar n tn i have moluscum contagiosum and i use cortizone cream to reduce the itch and he can use the calamine lotion you would put on poison ivy can stop the itch too.. i have also been using this cream called triamcinolone acetonide ointment USP 0.1% im not sure if its actually working to get rid of it but ive noticed its slowing going away and i dont itch. you can also get cream called aldara.. its used for genetal warts but it does stop the itch.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with one genital wart. I used Aldara - didn't work... ACV just burned my flesh. But then it started swelling to the point where it hurt to sit, walk, etc. The "wart (small and white at all times - flattish) was not to be seen due to the new "Bump". It was a very large ( about 3 cm) wide and quite hard and PAINFUL. It got so big that when i was sleeping it busted and blood and a white substance came out. THIS IS NOT A GENITAL WART!! what could it be?
Avatar f tn The cause of gential warts is a low risk strain of HPV. There are more than one strain that can cause warts, there are also high risk strains that can cause cell changes. In total there are almost 40 gential strains of HPV, in total there are almost 200 HPV's. HPV is very common and almost all sexually active adults will have some of the strains in there lifetime. Once we get a strain we have it the rest of our life. We can have one or many strains.

Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but it can be contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub, folliculitis, cysts ,molluscum contagiosum(multiple, small, dome-shaped papules, often with a central depression or plug) or genital warts(caused by HPV infection). Apply warm compresses,Neosporin ointment and calamine lotion and avoid messing with it.Your boyfriend can take anti-inflammatory pain killers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
Avatar n tn I tried Aldara ointment, and at first I thought it helped, but it didn't. Knowing what I know now, I would have had them removed immediately...wasted too much time with the Aldara. I wish she had never tried treating me with it to begin with. I wonder if I would have still had them if I had them removed instead of wasting months with the Aldara. I still needed to see my doctor after the Aldara didn't work on several. I am still being treated 9 months later. I'm not sure how I got them.
Avatar n tn It went from 4 or 5, to by my new doctor's count, more than 20. So we tried cryotherapy and a Rx of Aldara. Cryo seemed to work okay-ish on the two or three warts near my penis, destroying most of each wart (leaving a bit behind that was was further frozen the other day). The cryo and two weeks of Aldara saw pretty much zero progress on any of the perianal warts.
Avatar n tn The frequency of lesions has increased in the last year as well as surface area (now anal and inguinal), so I visited the dermatologist. He prescribed Dovonex ointment. I notice that there is less of a rebound effect (i.e. I have to treat less frequently), but I've also noticed changes in surrounding skin, (i.e. whatever skin is in contact with the treated area). From what I can tell, whatever the ointment touches causes redness and irritation that almost resembles psoriasis itself.
Avatar n tn Will using an ointment (preperation H etc.) to treat this cause the warts to spread? 3) I tried to use Aldara for the perianal warts. Does this irritate the hemmorhoidal tissue? It makes a very uncomfortable situation. 4) I also seemed to have a minor case of fecal leakage. Ever since my dermatologist froze off a case of perianal warts I seemed to notice this new problem!!!!! What do I do and who would I see at this point.
Avatar m tn the underside of my penis skin from my testicles to halfway up my shaft has been red and painful for well OVER A MONTH. i used aldara for gw and think it might be permanent. it burns like hell and any kind of sex anything hurts like fire so i cant do anything with my boyfriend. pretty sure its not an std ive been tested and am monogamous. my doc said try hydrocortisone ointment but it didnt help...
Avatar n tn 2) I also have a case of hemmorhoids as well that seem to be ever present but not life altering. Will using an ointment (preperation H etc.) to treat this cause the warts to spread? 3) I tried to use Aldara for the perianal warts. Does this irritate the hemmorhoidal tissue? It makes a very uncomfortable situation. 4) I also seemed to have a minor case of fecal leakage. Avatar n tn As such my doctor has prescribed Aldara. I am naturally terrified of Carcinoma as the secondary sites are not oval shaped or circular. The on immediatly next to the initial site looks more like a banana that curves along the edge of the primary site.
Avatar m tn I have had anal warts before, (over 5 years ago, treated with Aldara, never had a recurrence of them), and because of this previous history I immediately went to my doctor. My doctor however, was unable to determine if they were genital warts because they were so tiny, and didn't give me any idea of what else they could be. Her advice was to wait about a month to see if they would grow or multiply.
Avatar m tn U can get the warts/bumps removed by either freezing them [dr office] or aldara cream [prescroption] or some kind of laser or something [at drs office] =/ If mine r hpv confirmed i'm gonna go w whatev the derm says. I don't have any on shaft like urs thogh but since i'm cut i see the ones on head ev time i do anything!! Ugh. SO good luck man i will let u know what derm says..=] Don't worry to much, hope ur doing good.
1216396 tn?1266477209 I've been to the dermatologist and am being treated for genital warts. So far the treatment seems to be going okay... The doc. applied a blistering ointment, then prescribed me Aldara. After further inspecting my penis, Ive noticed one little bump on the left side of the head of my penis. Im not sure if this is normal. Its not like the warts, its not firm or cauliflower-like. I cant grasp hold of it or squeeze it.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with genital warts for two years. I unsuccessfully used aldara for four months last year, and was recently prescribed condylox. It worked well, with all the visible warts gone within a month, but now I have a new problem. There are two small patches of skin on my penis that have no color left to them at all. They are completely white, but the texture of the skin is normal. It has been like this for a month now, and I'm wondering if it is permanent.
