Aldara doesn't work

Common Questions and Answers about Aldara doesn't work

Avatar m tn Has anyone out there used thus treatment ? My next step if this doesn't work will have to be the cauterization method, ouch.
Avatar m tn I have only used it for three applications and I have seen zero effects - as if I had never started using it. I have read that Aldara doesn't work for everyone, especially males... but I would like to know if anybody has had any success stories without unpleasent side effects? I'm sure I could just apply it for the next 3 months, but I'd like to have a little bit of hope because right now I'd be happy with pain, redness, and itchiness, so long as the warts were being destroyed.
Avatar m tn On average, treatment with any particular method is about 70% effective; if treatment doesn't work or if warts recur, we switch to a different form of treatment. As for your lifestyle and nutrition, I really don't think it's going to make much difference one way or the other. I hope these comments have helped.
2206935 tn?1373642205 give it time - it can take up to 3 months for it to work ( and sometimes doesn't work at all unfortunately ).
Avatar n tn I would not prefer any chemical in comparison to nitro freezing unless nitro freezing doesn't work at all for you.

Avatar f tn The aldara doesn't seem to work at first, but it will. It irritates the area so much, I don't think it would be a good idea to mix treatments. I started using it in January, and didn't notice a difference in size until about mid Feb, but then it started getting red and flaky, and noticably smaller in the following weeks. I just went back for a check up, and they said it was close to being gone, that the rest would likely fall off in a week or so.
Avatar m tn She did use a cream on him that appeared to temporarily work-- imiquimod cream 5% - drug name Aldara. It has 12 single application doses (each the size of a postage stamp). She writes: "Not much in them so it's hard to only use one on an application. It cost $180 more in some other drugstores. I bought two boxes and used for 5 ½ weeks Monday to Friday as the vet said.
Avatar m tn I have had cryo therapy twice (two different area) and it seems like shortly after the cryo therapy I end up getting more warts popping up in different areas. I have been using Aldara on the area where I have warts. I started taking multivitamins and a vitamin D this week to try and boost my immune system. I am not physically active enough and figured vitamins and some exercise would help to boost my immune system. What should I do? Is there anything that I should be doing that I am not?
Avatar n tn Genital warts can be treated many ways, but none of them are over-the-counter. Aldara doesn't always work. I doubt it increased the warts itself (they may have simply multiplied in spite of it, but that really doesn't matter.) If you don't trust your dermatologist, you should see another one, who may recommend freezing the warts or some other method. But as the ads say, "Don't try this at home." You can irritate your genital skin in a big way and hot get the job done anyway.
598912 tn?1219552112 I have hpv,and i had a reoccurence of gw so m doc 0rescribed aldara. ******* hell hole in a packet. after only s couple days of using it, yesterday my vagina lips swoll up along with the middle portion too. i began to walk funny because it would hurt to bump them together. i was at work still and needed to home asap.
Avatar n tn If that doesn't work then see a dermatologist about having them removed. has info on molluscum for more info.
Avatar f tn I have tried freezing and podofilm and condyline... podofilm is the only one that kinda works ( doesn't get rid of all my warts) What treatment would you recommend that would be good to get rid of the warts? (just for the meantime...
Avatar m tn A lot of people don't feel anything with aldara, feeling irratation doesn't necessarily mean its begining to work
2206935 tn?1373642205 its been around 17months :( i try to keep positive warticon didnt work and aldara notmuch..can they go alone?
Avatar n tn If in doubt, get another opinion. That the lesions did not respond to Aldara doesn't mean much. Aldara is effective in about 60% of cases. Alternative treatments are much better. The best approach is to see a dermatologist, who might treat them with more rapidly effective methods like cautery/surgery or freezing with liquid nitrogen. Second, there is obvious a significant chance your wife will develop warts. But not necessarily.
Avatar m tn I was perscribed Aldara Cream for my external warts. I dont feel like they are spreading but I'm really not seeing much improvement with the warts.... Honestly I'm not really sure what to expect........ they have been kind of "trying to" fall off I guess... or peel off...painfully.... but I thought they were just supposed to dissappear. But I'm sick of Aldara becuase it makes me itchy and sore and uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn If the Aldara cream doesn't work, will I have HPV forever? I just can't stand the thought of living with an STD forever, some advice???
Avatar n tn although in many communities, some general surgeons specialize in colon and rectal problems. Don't be tempted to use Aldara internally; it won't work and could cause painful side effects.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with HPV because I had warts on my rectum (i'm a male). I was prescribed ALDARA cream for it. I left the cream on for too long the first week and it felt reallly irritated. I learned later your supposed to wash it off in the morning. After the first week I developed another problem and I wonder if it has something to do with ALDARA. I feel like I have to pee ALL the time. after I go to the bathroom I feel like I have to run back in!
Avatar f tn Herpes is highly variable, but it doesn't come and go like you imply, and as you suggest yourself, it doesn't cause widely scattered lesions. Recurrent herpes typically reappears each time within 1-2 inches of the same spot. I do not see it is a serious possibility. The irritation and dicharge don't have to be due to the same thing. You could easily both have BV plus irritation from imiquimod. I really can't help further. Your doctor can.
Avatar f tn At present the reason the HPV vaccine is only recommended for younger women is not because it doesn't work in middle aged women but because most infections occur in the youngest group. While your insurance may not pay for it, there is no reason not to take the vaccine (other than cost) and it may offer you some protection. 5. No studies. It seems unlikely. 6. I suspect your lymph nodes were a bit tender because the Aldara stimulated your immune response. This is a good sign, not a bad one.
Avatar n tn every available treatment is around 60-70% effective; whatever is used first, it is correct to move to another method if the first doesn't work. 5) Your doc advised against covering it because it would increase the warmth, moisture, and concentration of aldara, likley resulting in even worse inflammation and even a painful genital ulcer. If you read the package insert that came with the drug, you will see exactly that warning from the manufacturer.
Avatar n tn The one possible suggestion I can think of is a cream called Aldara, which is new. It doesn't work all the time by any means, but it's not irritating when used on thick-skinned areas like the fingers, and if used 5 times a week for 6-12 weeks may work. Worth a try, I think. If it doesn't work, I'd wait. Take care. Dr.
Avatar n tn It is an expensive, uncomfortable (as you probably found out) treatment that doesn't work any better than some of the other options. However, the fact that your dermatologist tried interferon, cautery (loop), and imiquimod (Aldara) suggests you may have a particularly resistant set of warts, and I can understand how the situation is upsetting. Didn't mean to give an insensitive response. But my basic advice still stands.
Avatar n tn I have been wart free for 1 month, after using Aldara, and he doesn't have any at this time. Will he infect me again. And do we need to use condoms. If we were to have oral sex can we reinfect ourselves. Thanks so much for being there to answer these difficult questions.
Avatar m tn it's a pain to apply several times a week for months and doesn't always work but worth a try at this point.
Avatar f tn Same with skin tags, hence why people are able to remove them by tying a string around the stalk. But that doesn't work with warts because they appear directly from the skin.
Avatar n tn Last time I had warts my doctor gave me an RX for Aldara and that did work, it took about a week and a half and caused the warts to become smoother and smoother until they were flat and then nothing but a reddish spot and then gone.
Avatar f tn Many people say they don't have success with it but they don't do the entire 16 weeks or be patient with it to work. Although it doesn't work for some and side effects can be bothersome. In the end if it works i think its a really good medication since it helps in the long run. There are a lot of people who don't have a recurrence of genital warts and for you to have one after a year with only one treatment is pretty good.
