Common Questions and Answers about Aldara cream

aldara

Avatar f tn I have been using Aldara cream for two weeks now, and surprisingly my warts are gone. But I now notice that the area where the warts used to be is very red. I don't know if that is supposed to happen or not but should I continue using the cream? I don't want to kill anymore skin cells then I have to..
1067212 tn?1353964002 The next morning it got significantly smaller but it is still there and is tender when I touch it. On the aldara cream it states a very unlikely side effect is hard bumps under the skin. Is this simply a side effect or something else?
Avatar m tn Have any of you ever used Aldara 5% cream? My dermatologist suggested it to determine if my mole was just an irritation or a skin cancer. After reading the package insert and doing some research online I was to scared to try it. If it is recommended to me again I am wondering if I should use it. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I used the same cream and had some bad side effects too. Make sure you use the cream 3 times a week with space inbetween like: Monday, wednesday then friday. Also you should only use the cream in small quantitys as it is also used for skin cancer therefore it is very strong. The skin in the genital area is also very tender. I used the cream for 1 week, so thats 3 applications before I had to take a break from it. I was so sore down below - burning, itching, stinging.
Avatar m tn 1, does the cream cause a bit of itch even when it's been washed off or just when it's on? 2. i noticed what lookes like a "cut" near the perinem .around the anal opening..sort of like a small sore.. is that a side effect of the cream?
Avatar f tn Now my gyn is telling me that, in order to get rid of any other traces of hpv, we should apply Aldara cream on the cervix. I am having serious doubts about this procedure and I would be most grateful if you gave me a specialized advice: is it ok to use it? Can it actually heal hpv? Thank you in advance for your answers!
Avatar f tn So she prescribed me Aldara and I used it for two weeks but after two weeks the side effects were really bad so I stopped using it for a week. After that week the side effects from Aldara had all cleared up and I wen to go put the cream on again only to discover that my "warts" were gone. Is it normal that the warts would clear up after only two weeks with Aldara? I have always had a really good immune system but that just seems really fast.
Avatar n tn I have had no problems with them and have had sex with my wife for years with no problems. Recently I read about a cream called Aldara for warts that said applying this cream 3 times a week could eliminate warts and that the sides effects were mild. I thought i would order it and try it, thinking it couldn't hurt if it wasn't a wart. I applied the cream as instructed every other day for about 2 weeks ( 6 or 7 applications).
Avatar f tn He recently surgically removed 2 keloids on his chest and our dermatologist gave him ALDARA cream to be used about 3 times a week on the wounds. I really want to know if he is doing the right thing. What chance is there that these keloids will re appear? and if they do will they be worse than before? what is your best advice? According to our dermatologist (who is known to be one of the best in our country) there is only a 10% chance that they will re-appear using ALDARA cream.
Avatar n tn No, I meant Aldara might be the whole explanation. I'm not surprised if Aldara is making it worse.
Avatar f tn A week later i got cryotherapy to freeze some off and she gave me aldara cream to apply for the following week. that was last week. so i applied the cream to the small areas and for the first day it was fine but after the second day of applying i have been in so much pain, pain to pee, walk, sit, do anything. i have noticed also one area where the largest wart was (was only small) this area has gone totally white. I am writing to ask if this is normal.
Avatar f tn I went back to my gyno. She then told me it looked like Molluscsum Contagiosum and gave me Aldara cream to use. Well, I used it all over my genital area for 3 days. On the 3rd day - I developed 5 small ulcers. They didn't hurt. I went back to my gyno. This time (after the negative herpes test and no new partners) she told me it looked like herpes. She did a swab of an ulcer and it came back negative for herpes.
Avatar n tn It is on the inner labia, not where I put the cream - however, I am sure some of the cream may have transfered there. It is red, was only slightly itchy early in the day, and by the afternoon it hurt very bad to the touch. It is almost like an open sore maybe, but it doesn't look like a sore, it just feels... raw??? Is this a reaction to the treatment, or is it something else? Should I not continue treatment?
Avatar n tn Can Aldara sucessfully treat warts on the penis? I have a those cawliflower type warts around the base of the head.
Avatar m tn I have recently started to use Aldara cream for the removal of genital warts. I thought that this was a simple treatment and followed the doctors orders of applying only 3 times a week. What was not mentioned was the fact that I should wash the cream off after a certain period of time, I assumed that the cream should be left until fully absorbed. This in hindsight was possibly one of the worst decisions I have ever made.
Avatar m tn She did use a cream on him that appeared to temporarily work-- imiquimod cream 5% - drug name Aldara. It has 12 single application doses (each the size of a postage stamp). She writes: "Not much in them so it's hard to only use one on an application. It cost $180 more in some other drugstores. I bought two boxes and used for 5 ½ weeks Monday to Friday as the vet said.
Avatar m tn hey im a 21 yr old male. i have been using aldara one two very small genital warts (applying as little as possible with a toothpick). anyways despite best efforts the cream has gotten on other parts of my skin near the warts and has almost bleached it white... I have decided to stop using it for this reason even though the warts are not completely gone (i hate aldara now).
Avatar m tn What? are you applying Aldara on entire genital area? aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream...
Avatar n tn Ive been on aldara (imiquimod) 5% for approximately 2 months now. I cant notice if im seeing any improvement with my genital warts. However, ive developed a ridiculous rash around the application site. which is extremely red and irritated. The rash looks almost like if i ran really fast and slid my knee on a rug, except its around the base of my penis. Its sometimes itchy and i feel as if at sometimes its developing a particular scab. will this redness ever go away?
Avatar f tn Recently (5/28) diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum and besides from cryotherapy for treatment i also received Aldara cream 5%. (the derm did not get every lump/wart with the liquid nitrogen) Questions I have about this is; How effective is it to be used? Should I apply it with a finger or would a Q-Tip be better or should it be something else? How exactly does it work?
Avatar m tn I recently got diagnosed with HPV, I am 23 male. I started applying the cream every other day over the entire genital area. I applied it an the anus as well and now it is killing me! Only one spot at the part of my anus closest to the testis. It got all swollen and seems to have a sore on it, looks like a hemorrhoid to me, but I dint know why I would have one! As if HPV didnt make me feel crappy enough, lol. Has anyone had any similar experience with aldara on the butthole, or anywhere?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with genital warts and prescribed Aldara 3x times a week. After using it for about 2-3 months I was informed that the lab made a mistake and I was missdiagnosed. Now almost a year and a half later I still have a red scar from the Aldara treatment( about 1 inch long). I was hoping it would go away but now I am dealing with the fact that it wont. I have olive dark skin and the red scar on my penis is very noticable.

I have read all the horror stories about the cream and will like to know if there is a posssibility of damage to his immune system due to the use of this cream. he has mollocum contagiosum. He did not have any other side effects.
