alcohol

Avatar f tn Ive not tried the red one, but the white non-alcohol wine tasted oddly of white grape juice and pop rocks lol.
Avatar f tn Most alcoholic beverages are high in sugar/carbs and calories. Also your body can only do one thing at a time-- digest food or alcohol. It is a pretty legitimate excuse, but it is just one example. I hope this helps. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Heres the deal I am 18 years old, and lately every time I drink alcohol i get horrible stomach pains. They aren't even cramps, it is just horrible pain. I have been drinking alcohol since I was 12 and was fine up until just before christmas 2009. It happens when I drink any type of alcohol, and it gets so bad that i can't move. Sometimes when i soak in the bath tub it helps with the pain. Another thing I've noticed is that I can't get drunk anymore.
Avatar n tn However, it is not usually the alcohol which is the source of the headache. Certain nonalcoholic ingredients are more likely to induce the headache attack than alcohol itself. Hard liquor is more alcoholic than wine or beer. Some people can drink vodka or gin without developing a headache but cannot drink red wine, beer or the amber-colored hard liquors. Red wine contains tyramine which probably causes these headaches.
Avatar m tn I don't know what's causing your hands shaking, but no offense -- but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that you do NOT mix alcohol with prescription meds, especially bp meds such as lithium. That can have disasterous results - really dangerous. You should discuss your symptoms with your doctor -- be totally truthful with him -- and in my opinion that's the only course of action.
Avatar m tn I was never a big drinker but I do miss having the occasional gin and tonic. I decided that it wasn't worth the risk to see what alcohol and meds would do. I've been tempted to try a drink and see if I can handle it, but I haven't done that experiment yet. I would want to do it a night DH is home. In the grand scheme of things though, the odd social drink is not worth instability.
Avatar n tn Studies have shown that it is the alcohol that is beneficial. You can make gin in your bathtub and have a benefit. I recall one study which showed that people who have very little of the enzyme that metabolizes alcohol actually have greater benefit from moderate alcohol consumption. But then the resveratrol in red wine has benefit of its own - even relating to sirtuins and longevity, apart from any cardiac considerations. It goes round and round, being a complex subject.
Avatar f tn You surely should not drink any alcohol at all while taking pain medication, or any medication for that matter.
11595727 tn?1428875837 Sushi and Steak and Eggs benedict are the first on my list. lol. Everyone I know kept asking how hard it was to give up alcohol and my answer is always - Not at all, it's the food I miss most!
Avatar f tn I've been taking methadone pills 60 t0 70 mg daily for about 1 year along with drinking about a pint of gin daily. I am not under a doctor's care so all the pills I get is off the streets. Anyway, I am tired and I want to come off methadone, but I'm afraid of the w/d that everyone states is so damn hard. What is the best way to detox? Should I try suboxone? I don't think that I can do it cold turkey.
Avatar m tn Well after years of alcohol abuse I felt proud today when I took out the glass recycling and it wasn't full of beer/wine/gin/scotch bottles..! The headaches the started when I stopped 23 days ago are becoming less and for a shorter times, the shakes have stopped, mood swings are more controllable now .... the craving's still there though as i'm sure it always will be ..!
Avatar f tn Trust me when I say that getting drunk on Lithium and Ziprexa is not a good idea. Chances are it will make you really drowsy, and if you get dehydrated from the alcohol you could go into lithium toxicity. Sometimes bipolar isn't fair, but look at it this way, at least you won't get drunk, forget the condom, and knock someone up :) I know it is really frustrating. I am a lot older than you are and I feel the pressure at a lesser rate.
Avatar n tn Even a possibility to alcohol poisoning! Not worth taking the risk again by drinking alcohol for any reason (: Best wishes.
Avatar n tn I have been drinking +/- 1/2 of a 750ml bottle of 80 proof gin a day for six to eight months. I have a good supply of prescription 2mg Lorizipam. Can I detox on this without getting the DT's, siezures or dying? I really want to get off the booze.
Avatar n tn I am 34, I weigh 260 and am about 5 ft 11'. I eat about 1500-2000 calories a day. I do drink a lot of coffee during the day though (5 cups during work week) I also tend to drink a lot of diet soda, but never regular. I occassionaly drink alcohol once or twice a week on weekend. but rum and diet soda. I do however walk back and forth to work about 2.7 miles each way 5 days a week, been doing this for 7 monthes (I lost 15 lbs from that, was 275 in March).
Avatar n tn prichard16 - yes, the types of calories makes a difference. While I agree with caregiver222, that 1000 calories is 1000 calories; if you make that 1000 calories a mix of fruits, veggies, dairy, lean meats, nuts, etc --- you will be much healthier and more likely to lose weight than if you get that 1000 calories from 5 candy bars (200 calories/each) throughout the day........... there's a huge difference........
Avatar n tn So let me ask this....if a man consumes drugs and alcohol would the ingredients of the drugs and alcohol be present in the womans urine analysis after she consumes his sperm?
