Avatar f tn Any unused is stored as body fat for later use if required. Carbohydrates and protein give us energy, but the body will convert any unused carbohydrates to Triglycerides. This is why exercise is good for lowering trigs, along with a good diet. So remember, a low fat diet, but high in carbs, will still increase trigs. I watched a very good documentary recently on calories and the amount of food the body actually requires is a lot less than we imagine.
Avatar f tn If you have eaten an excessive number of calories then cutting back the number of calories you consume for a short period could be a good idea. This is advice I was given by the doctor on the emotional eating expert forum. Exercise is also a good way to compensate for excess calories. My advice would be to talk to your doctor or to speak with a psychotherapist. I don't think eating the cookie was as significant as your perception of food and body image, etc.

Avatar f tn s recommended that you cut 500 calories/day to lose 1 pound/week (1 lb = 3500 calories; 500 calories/day X 7 days = 3500 calories.) Or you can cut 250 calories and expend 250 calories via exercise. In your case, you'd drop your calorie intake down to about 1943. If you exercise you will lose weight that much quicker. If you drink sodas, exchange them for water. Eliminate sugary foods and those made from white flour (breads, pasta). Exchange white rice for brown rice.
649848 tn?1534633700 In that sense, sugar is like alcohol. It’s got calories, but it’s not nutrition. There’s no biochemical reaction that requires it. And at high doses, alcohol can fry your liver. Same with sugar. Fructose, the sweet molecule in sugar, contains calories that you can burn for energy, but it’s not nutrition, because there’s no biochemical reaction that requires it. In excess, it can fry your liver, just like alcohol. And this makes sense, because where do you get alcohol from?
Avatar f tn Safe weight loss is considered to be 1-2 pounds/week. If you're losing a pound/day, most likely it will only be fluid or it will be a regimen that's actually harmful to the body and can't maintained over the long term. A grown woman should never consume less than 1200 calories/day - anything less is basically, a starvation diet. Trying to burn 3500 calories in a day is excessive.
Avatar f tn I eat around 2300 calories a day which is target amount for my level of exercise and being a parent. I have set meals for every day recommended by my nutritionist. Clinical trials are also looking at the effectiveness of certain antioxidants and newer diabetes medications in treating fatty liver disease.
Avatar f tn I read that carbohydrates are the main source of energy, so it is important to eat some amount of carbohydrates daily so the body is able to function. There are different types of carbohydrates. For example breads, pasta, potatoes and rice and then there are vegetables and fruits. Can I obtain my carbohydrate intake just by eating (vegetables and fruits), or is it important that I also eat (breads, pasta, potatoes and rice in small quantities)?.
Avatar n tn t want them. Alcohol is high in a carbohydrates that converts to triglycerides. It can also affect your liver, which could interfere with your ability to metabolize fat. Exercise increases your body's ability to metabolize sugar, which lowers the amount of sugar in your blood and decreases the amount of sugar your body converts to triglycerides.
