I think he was with Alice in Chains?? Mike Star or something?? That was so sad! He was so young and had a sweet spirit. I stopped watching the show after that! AMBER PORTWOOD: Prescription pills LAMAR ODOM: a little bit of everything KIRSTIE ALLEY: She said rehab saved her life.
Avatar m tn hi.. don't worry that drug abuse treatment is very costly. many drug rehab centers are available to treat you against Drug addiction. Please have patience and try to quit it because its good for your health.
Avatar f tn What we were looking into is an in patient drug and alcohol rehab. I have looked at the quality treatment facilities in my area, given the fact that he was detoxed while a patient at Johns Hopkins he wants to continue his recovery on that front, for the most part the treatment facilities available within a distance of Hopkins (should something happen) are either inner city Baltimore and horrible, or out of network for our health insurance and crazy expensive.
317822 tn?1223241475 Detox gets you off the drugs safely, and a little of what rehab does. Rehab deals with learning about your addiction and how to live life without drugs. Once you are done with detox, they will help set you up on some continuing aftercare activities. Like an inpatient rehab, or outpatient rehab, a psychiatrist to follow your meds etc. that kind stuff. Hope this helps?
594255 tn?1219163564 Hi, Was sober almost three years until last Feb. 3, 2008. All kinds of bad things went wrong on Feb. 2, 2008. I bought a half-gallon of rum, and started again. I did stop drinking again after a few weeks for about a month. I went back to meetings. Been unemployed three and a half years, and was turned down for a very good job. Guess what? I've been drinking since! I have no way to pay for rehab, so I have to go it alone.
Avatar f tn Our daughter has been to 3 treatment centers. The first two were someone else's idea, they didn't work out because she didn't want to get clean at that time. But the last one worked out perfectly. She was ready. She stayed for 28 days. No contact with outside sources. Just visits on Sundays from us. Being cut off from the people she used with is quite a safety net. It's a safe environment and every day she worked on her recovery. She was introduced to NA at treatment.
Avatar m tn I do not believe that taking him to a rehab facility would mean he would get in trouble at all. I am currently in an outpatient rehab, and I have told them some terrible things that I did to get my DOC (drug of choice), but they did not tell on me to anyone. I don't think any rehabs do that. It is my understanding that outpatient rehabs are more affordable than inpatient rehabs. I have just recently been told about and am researching rehab scholarships.
Avatar f tn If the loved one of an addict, is educated about their part in an addicts life, they are told that they must stand their ground and demand progress towards sobriety, always in the form of Drug and Alcohol Addiction Services, or "Rehab". An Addicts life is a hard life. They love their drug of choice, and yet it is hard on them physically and emotionally and at times they do want to have a different life. Your part in this should go as follows.
Avatar n tn My husband has been addicted to various drugs and alcohol for over 10 years. His current problem is opiates, xanax, and alcohol. But he'll basically take whatever he can get a hold of. He's tried quitting on his own a bazillion times, only to fail within a few days. We even moved out of state to where he didn't know anyone to buy from, but he just replaced drugs with loads of alcohol. This has caused lots of strain on our relationship and I initiated a seperation last week.
Avatar n tn I was in rehab for the first time in March. Was only there for 2 weeks because I found out I was pregnant about a week into treatment. They tested me when I got there but the results didn't come back until 7 days into treatment. I was already out of detox. So I chose to stay clean and not get back on anything. They wanted to put me back on methadone which is what they used to wean me off the oxy contin.
Avatar f tn I am currently in a relationship with a man that has a severe heroin and opiate addiction among other addictions. I am pregnant with his child, 17 weeks now and his addiction has me afraid he will die. I am also worried about our financial situation because he tends to put his addictions before myself and our bills etc... For some stupid reason I have a hard time telling him no when he asks for money and is withdrawing...
Avatar f tn SERIOUS help. Is rehab (a treatment-center) an option for him? If not, at the very least, he needs to get himself to a hospital so he can detox all the b/s out of his system before it KILLS him. Mixing all of the things you mention is a killer combination, as Tramahater indicated. Ticking time-bomb to say the least... Keep us posted...
Avatar n tn She has told me that she was shooting up 8-10 times a day. We do not have the financial means to place her in a rehab. Does anyone have any advice?
Avatar m tn Only reason for Lithium in my book is BiPolar. Since I'm BiPolar and have been considering Lithium, Ill take the hand shaking thing into consideration but I'm also a recovering alcoholic so I would never combine the two together. I used alcohol to medicate the BiPolar and somewhere crossed the line and became a little pickled and couldn't stop!
Avatar m tn 3 years 1.
Avatar n tn We, my sister and I cannot go on any longer watching him kill himself, is there any type of lock down rehab that we can have him committed to? He claims that the withdrawals are far too unbearable to go on living. If there is any information that anyone can offer us about any state funded programs in or around new mexico we would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar f tn ve never had the alcohol addiction, but from what I understand after my inpatient program and the many many people I met there, detoxing from alcohol can actually be deadly, while opiates is just incredibly and uncomfortable at best - but not deadly. With alcohol, you run the risk of seizure and I'm sure other things of which I'm not directly familiar. Thats why alcohol detox will be done in a medical unit and they'll help you through the w/d symptoms to ease your pain.
Avatar m tn I am seeking help for my father, who has been addicted to alcohol and drugs like 1 year now. After my mom passed away, he is all alone and put himself in to this risk. I have tried to talk to him but he denies and keep on ignoring whatever we asked him to do. I have contacted a counselling center in Toronto, Bellwood Health Services ( http://www.bellwood.ca/drug-addiction/ ) but I don’t know how to convince my father for the recovery program.
Avatar f tn Looking for the best treatment center in US, Consult with New Solutions Counseling centers in Florida- one of the best addiction recovery rehab center.
Avatar n tn howdy. hope you continue to use this forum, as i have found it to be very beneficial to my own recovery. a couple of thoughts: don't think anyone noted this yet, but in your initial post you really hit on something it took me years to understand. you wrote "alcoholism is primarily a symptom of anxiety." how true that is. addiction to any drug, alcohol or otherwise, is a developed symptom of an underlying cause, at least for myself and people i know.
Avatar f tn I would try to go the detox/rehab route because of the combination of the drugs and alcohol. A focused intervention with a drug counselor could be set up with a trip to detox immediately. Look in your phone book for drug/alcohol assistance. It is usually in the front pages in a special services section. She is in heavy denial and needs to be approached with a worked out strategic plan. Good Luck. Ask for lots of help.
Avatar f tn I have gone through in patient treatment two separate times, once in Washington and once in California. Both treatment facilities were recommended by my Insurance and covered all addiction problems, which main focus was on alcoholics and the 12-step program.
Avatar n tn My 18 yr old granddaughter has been arrested for calling her boyfriend who had a restraining order against her. She also has pending, stealing cigarettes, verbal abuse to a nurse, breaking a car window in an argument with someone & we did not post bail & would like to get power of attorney & see if we can have her put in a rehab. She has been on a downward spiral for at least 4 years. We know she drinks & are pretty sure that she takes various drugs. What can we do?
Avatar m tn Drinking destroyed my life for a long time whereas pills just cost me money, health risks, and worry. I feel scared and alone. If I had a month of vascation I would go to a rehab through the VA but that is not an option. My job would put me through rehab but I know they would look down on me for doing it just as they did when I was in the Navy. They say they can't and wont but trust me they do! so that is not an option.
Avatar m tn I do not know what TALWIN is...do you have any more information? Is it an opiate? I was on opiates and detoxed at home going cold turkey. Welcome to this site and we are here to support you. Please provide any additional info about dosage you are on...
Avatar m tn It is a sustained release injection form of Naltrexone. Its a once a month shot. It is currently only approved for alcohol addiction, but is in being investigated as a treatment option for opiate dependance as well Another thing, what kind of recovery are you working. You say yourself you cant stop, and you may be able to detox, but what is going to keep you from going back? Just playing devils advocate here, but I wish you nothing but the best of luck! Henry.
