even walking from one room to another is a huge toll on me...I read that albuterol is a class C drug and has not been studied in pregnancy in humans...in animals is is linked to cleft palate defects and other defects too! Since I am in the 2ww I am not sure if I took my albuterol in my nebulizer if I'd be risking my potential babies health. I'll call my pharmacist or dr. in a couple hours but it is only 5 a.m. and I won't be able to call until 9...when they open.

t act up a lot so I only use albueterol every so often if it acts up (I used one puff during this pregnancy it was after a walk outside in the cold my chest felt so tight). My doctor told me it is worse for the baby not to get oxygen. So, to use one puff then the full dose if that doesn't work. The benefit of you breathing outweighs the risk of the medication. Just only use it if you have to.

I haven't used it myself, but my mom did with my baby brother and he's a healthy one.

The reality is that I have had allergic rhinitis during the whole pregnancy, I am 18 weeksand the last two days have been horrible w my breathing. So, I used my rescue nebulizer yesterday and today with albuterol. I feel much better, but curiosity intrigued me and I started Googling about the risks of not taking meds vs taking the meds and they both blow.

So far ultrasounds say my little man is still healthy. I was never advised by my ob/gyn to not take the albuterol. In my opinion even if there is a risk using albuterol it wouldn't be a big one or OB's would not allow so many pregnant women to use them. Also the risk of not using it could be so much worse. It is important that you are able to breathe so your baby develops properly. You should ask your Ob about the steriod for sure. hope this helped.

Just wondering if anyone here uses an albuterol inhaler and are they safe to use during pregnancy? I use one every now and then but not on a daily basis. I'm only 5 weeks along. I used mine tonight because I felt like I absolutely had to.

Phill, the nebulizer just delivers the albuterol in a better form, doesn't it? It's still albuterol? If your doc knows you're on that, it sounds like it would probably be safe to take. Do you have an after hours nurse you could call to confirm that? If you can't get your breathing under control and you feel like you can't catch your breath it's an emergency situation - you can always go to the ER and they will treat you right away. Do you take these on a daily basis. Medrol is hardcore. What does your doctor say about medrol during pregnancy. I assume you mean albuterol in the nebulizer. I've taken that during pregnancy...but that's when my asthma's been out of control. Sound like the meds you are taking are "short-term". Those aren't anything you would take on a regular basis for controlling asthma. In any event...

Has anyone here taken albuterol inhaler during pregnancy and had a healthy pregnancy? I'm 22 weeks and asthma has been a little bad it's controllable but the only thing that calms it is my albuterol inhaler doctor said its fine to take I'd rather not be taking it but its the only thing that helps me I usually just take up to 2-3 puffs a day..

I have had asthma for the last 5 years and was on singulair daily and I also have an albuterol inhailer but I stopped taking them when I found out I was pregnant. I have been fine with my breathing until yesterday. I'm getting this nasty cold and I can feel the tightening in my chest. The doctor told me to start my meds but they are class b and c medications. Singulair said its safe but there is no human studies..... It doesn't sound safe to me.

I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. I have been using my inhaler a lot more during pregnancy and I'm pretty sure it's because we are now breathing for 2 and our blood flow (which carries oxygen) is going for 2.

you might want to ask your doctor for sure. im 15 weeks and on albuterol inhaler and when my doctor brough up my asthma to me at my last appointment she told me not being able to breath is more of a risk to my baby than taking my albuterol. id assume the same is true for you. if they dont think that inhaler is safe for you or baby anymore, maybe they can switch you to something to use during the pregnancy that will help you breathe.

Not really pregnancy related I don't guess, but I just found an empty tube of Albuterol in my room. Which wouldn't make any normal person fall to pieces crying on the floor. Except that it fell out of one of my sisters shirts as I was putting it away, and she passed away almost 2 years ago from CF. Other than that it can be due to pinched cervical spinal nerves, clot in a blood vessel, localized dermatitis or even dandruff. Peripheral neuropathy as in diabetes too could be a cause. Ask your doctor if you can take baby aspirin, it's quite harmless and a lot of women take it for clot disorders. I have a clot disorder and took baby aspirin from the beginning of my pregnancy to almost the end. I think it would reassure you if you were to take it. Ask your doctor about it!!

3 weeks ago my 16 year old daughter had a bad reaction to the fumes that her art supplies produced. She was treated for asthma in the ER and sent home with an albuterol inhaler and prednisone.
