Both were treated with albuterol and an oral steriod. The second attack caused him to be hospitalized during treatment because he was not responding well to 3 doses of albuterol via nebulizer and had low oxygen sat. (88%). Both of the epsiodes occured during a cold/virus. My Dr. is reccomending a once daily pulmicort treatment for prevention purposes. I am a little hesitant to be giving him this at such a young age and only a short time of displaying these symtoms.

I have had this Dreadful cough since November 2004. The last thing they have had me on is Albuterol liquid form that goes into a nebulizer machine. Albuterol only fixes the problem for the moment and has terrible long term effects. Please, please help me. I have been to so many doctors. thank you for your kindness ahead of time.

So we will see how that goes. She was tested earlier in the year for the basic allergies like to cats, dogs, eggs etc and they all came back negative. Maybe I will have her tested again.

even walking from one room to another is a huge toll on me...I read that albuterol is a class C drug and has not been studied in pregnancy in humans...in animals is is linked to cleft palate defects and other defects too! Since I am in the 2ww I am not sure if I took my albuterol in my nebulizer if I'd be risking my potential babies health. I'll call my pharmacist or dr. in a couple hours but it is only 5 a.m. and I won't be able to call until 9...when they open.

Other than that it can be due to pinched cervical spinal nerves, clot in a blood vessel, localized dermatitis or even dandruff. Peripheral neuropathy as in diabetes too could be a cause. I am 14 years old and i was diagnosed with asthma when i was little. I am not on any medication for it except for an albuterol inhalher. anyway, this morning when i woke up i had difficulty breathing and my nose was very stuffy (the house i'm staying in has 2 dogs and 2 cats.) so i went down stairs to get my back so i could get a change of clothes. as i was walking back up, i started getting a burning in my chest and stomach and felt very out of breath.

So far ultrasounds say my little man is still healthy. I was never advised by my ob/gyn to not take the albuterol. In my opinion even if there is a risk using albuterol it wouldn't be a big one or OB's would not allow so many pregnant women to use them. Also the risk of not using it could be so much worse. It is important that you are able to breathe so your baby develops properly. You should ask your Ob about the steriod for sure. hope this helped.

3 weeks ago my 16 year old daughter had a bad reaction to the fumes that her art supplies produced. She was treated for asthma in the ER and sent home with an albuterol inhaler and prednisone. Within a few days, she was hospitalized due to a severe reaction to the prednisone and albuterol. She will never be able to take any medication with a steroid. Since then, she has had exercise and cold induced attacks.

Thus, when an asthmatic attack is precipatated after the albuterol, you are in a 911 situation and the time between an attack and death from respiratory arrest and death can sometimes be measured in minutes. "More albuterol" won't work. Your son will need intravenous medications and likly endotracheal intubation. There are alternative medications that still alow for the albuterol to be "held in reserve".

I took off out the door without my shoes on or anything and ran out to the dog pen where the watch dogs stay in the barn outside and flipped the gate open yelling their names and giving their commandds (they hunt/kill rabbit/woodchucks that get in the veggie garden etc).

Just wondering if anyone here uses an albuterol inhaler and are they safe to use during pregnancy? I use one every now and then but not on a daily basis. I'm only 5 weeks along. I used mine tonight because I felt like I absolutely had to.

I was told by my doc that Combivent just has an additional allergy medicine in it, in addition to the albuterol. It shouldn't hurt you, I wouldn't think. I have allergies also and this inhaler worked great for me.

s eye-rolling tics always increased about a week after a bad asthma episode, which resulted in having several albuterol treatments. Hi, Asthma cannot worsen angina but over use of inhaler albuterol can lead to low potassium levels in the blood, which in turn can cause palpitations, arrhythmias, irregular beats etc. So if you are experiencing frequent attacks of asthma, you should try to prevent triggering agents which cause asthma and also get evaluated by a pulmonologist for correction of dose of polemicist for preventing further attacks of asthma. albuterol inhalers ARE prescribed to be used before exercising in exercise induced asthma.

Before going to the allergist, my pcp did a blood allergy test and found out im allergic to some common things such as pollen, dogs, and grasses. Pollen and dogs just make me sneeze, and have itchy eyes and throat. Never have i wheezed due to them. As far as the grasses, i haven't been around them. When i went to the allery dr, they did some breathing test to test me for asthma, which came back negative. He also told me that he didn't feel like i had asthma.

Albuterol doesn't bother me as much as advair after reading bunches of articles :(

Have your child sweat tested...In the meantime be generous with bronchodilatators(Albuterol or Xopenex- if your insurance covers).You need a nebulizer machine(no 4 year old can do "puffer" effectively).If that doesn't control the asthma add Pulmicort(also through nebul.machine)...and put your kid on a diet(decrease sugar and fat...stop buying things they snack in between meals....that is where most of the calories are from).Remember...it is not just what you eat but how you eat.

Phill, the nebulizer just delivers the albuterol in a better form, doesn't it? It's still albuterol? If your doc knows you're on that, it sounds like it would probably be safe to take. Do you have an after hours nurse you could call to confirm that? If you can't get your breathing under control and you feel like you can't catch your breath it's an emergency situation - you can always go to the ER and they will treat you right away. Hehe .... In Canada we have branded ventolin (only brand I know though because it's the one I use), also called albuterol which is also called salbutamol.
