Aggrenox medication aspirin

Common Questions and Answers about Aggrenox medication aspirin

aggrenox

Avatar f tn Thank you for answering my question. He hasn't decided on what to do as of yet, but I won't be able to afford the Aggrenox. My husband will be losing his job in 3 days. I was thinking Persantine as well, but will see if my doctor will let me do this. All Aggrenox is is an antiplatelet medication w/aspirin and I don't see why he couldn't just prescribe me an antiplatelet such as Plavix. Will see what happens and let the forum know.
Avatar m tn While you are taking Aggrenox (aspirin/dipyridamole), you should avoid taking over-the-counter pain medicine, especially any other products containing aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Also, Avoid alcohol, or drink a minimal amount, as the combination of Aggrenox and alcohol could cause stomach bleeding.
Avatar f tn I was put on Aggrenox/Aspirin after my stroke about 2 months ago. Does anyone on the same treatment take any kind of Vitamins/Herbs with this medication?
Avatar n tn Does anyone take vitamins/herbs with aggrenox and aspirin?
Avatar n tn you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure. drink 1-2 full cups water 60 minutes prior to injection. eat a LIGHT meal.
Avatar f tn I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?
Avatar f tn I carry a bottle of chewable aspirin in the car and take it with me when away from the car. This is a small bottle so it's easy to carry. Then at home I have one in easy reach and out in the open for all to see just in case I can't get it my self. My Mother carries a small baggy with three or four pills in her purse.
Avatar m tn If you had a heart attack and stents, this is one of the common reasons for Plavix and aspirin together.... If has already been more than 1 year from the episode, I think nothing will happen but you should ALWAYS check with your cardiologist before to stop it. By the way, in my case my cardiologist got no problem to stop plavix but he did not allow under any circumstance, to stop aspirin, due to risk of suffering another HA.
Avatar n tn The generally accepted protocol for a drug eluding stent is plavix for a year or more with aspirin. Aspirin should be continued indefinitely. There appears to be some problems with some individuals regarding restenosis with the DES. What is the underlying cause for the CHF? I assume it was ischemia (lack of blood flow) to heart cells, and that could be new blockages or partial blockages at the time of first event and has increased the blockage, arrhythmia, etc.
Avatar f tn About 1-1/2 months ago he started experiencing mild itching on his legs and has now become chronic all over his body. Most of his meds have rash and itching side effects. Aggrenox was just changed to Plavix, but the itching has not stopped. 325mg of aspirin is also a future consideration as a blood thinner. He was given Ativan 0.5mg two days ago to stop the itching. The first night he practically scratched two wholes in his paralyzed arm.
Avatar n tn Many pregnant women take baby aspirin while pregnant, some to prevent miscarriage due to blood clotting disorders. Medication is permitted when the benefits outweigh the risks. If it is helping keep you alive then by all means do NOT stop taking it. Definitely speak with your doctor about your concerns. I'm sure they'll reassure you that it is absolutely fine.
1189223 tn?1264553189 Am on Coumadin 10-mg per day, Digoxin .125mg per day, Aspirin 325mg per day, Aggrenox 1000 mg twice a day, Isosorbide 30mg 3 times a day, Enalpril 10mg per day and Coreg 25mg-bid. I have been fighting this heart and neurological problem for 10 years now and am now going into A-Fib at least twice a day for the past month. My Doctors have said there is nothing left to do.
Avatar f tn My doctor has put me on medication . I'm taking progesterone capsules, HCG injections and aspirin delayed release tablets .What r they supposed to do and how does it help my baby? I had a chemical pregnancy in July and I'm now 6w3d pregnant.
Avatar n tn Do you mean EcoTRIN? If so, that is aspirin. My own vet does not recommend aspirin for dogs under any circumstances, and certainly not for chronic arthritis pain. While he admits it's effective and most dogs have no problem with it, he did have clients whose dogs ended up with bleeding ulcers. One dog nearly bled to death from his stomach after only two doses, so that's why he went completely against using it.
Avatar n tn I was just dignosed with a ASA which is associated with a PFO (patent foramen ovale) went to a neurologist and cardiologist and they both agreed that the only treatment at this point is blood thinner and aspirin i was told to take Aggrenox twice a day and a adult aspirin as well they found out about this because i have had 2 TIA's 1st one 2009 second one in 2010 but other than that i have never had any other symptoms nevertheless i used to get migranes a headaches all the time when i was yo
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with arrhythmia in December 2006 after taking medication for just over a year I had electrocardioversion which cured the arrhythmia. The consultant told me to take one Aspirin 300mg daily. What I would like to know is how long do I need to take the aspirin for?
Avatar f tn I discontinued taking 50mg of Hydroxyzine per dose with Excedrin (Aspirin, Acetaminophen and Caffeine) because I found that it actually increased both the likelihood and the effects of panic attacks. However, after reading up on the numerous reviews of this medication I've found that it's highly unlikely that it's the Hydroxyzine at fault as it's only reported contraindications appear to be drowsiness.
Avatar m tn Under the present circumstances the risk is greater than the benefit of antiplatelet medication. The medication can cause excessive bleeding and sometimes the bleeding is not observed as it may be in between layers of tissue, etc. With aspirin there can be bleeding within the stomach, and as it passes through the system there would not be any bright red coloration that you seem to indicate. Contact your doctor.

Avatar f tn Im on medication for depression and anxiety. Also occasionally I have a sedative in case I go bizzercerz. Would that hurt my child more than stress would?
Avatar f tn I am currently looking for a new depression medication. I need some info on something that is NOT a SSRI, a hormone, and is not zoloft, celexa, or prozac......also something that does not contain salicylic acid aka aspirin. If anyone can help I would appreciate the help.
Avatar f tn both the medication you mention are clot prevention, not AFib medication. Yes, it is common practice to take something, simple as aspirin, or something stronger,to reduce the bodies ability to form blood clots, a major side effect of AFib. Treatment of AFib, and trying to reduce or stop it is something else. There are some old and some new medication, simple as beta blocker up through strong arrhythmic drugs. Has your doctor tried an of them on you?
