Aggrenox versus aspirin

Common Questions and Answers about Aggrenox versus aspirin

aggrenox

Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. As you have been stable on these medications, your doctor has suggested you continue with the same. Aggrenox has both aspirin and dipyridamole extended release. Persantine is dipyridamole, but you will have to get extended release tablets as the two asprin and dipyridamole should not be taken together. Don’t change the medications without discussing with your doctor. So, consult him and then decide. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn While you are taking Aggrenox (aspirin/dipyridamole), you should avoid taking over-the-counter pain medicine, especially any other products containing aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Also, Avoid alcohol, or drink a minimal amount, as the combination of Aggrenox and alcohol could cause stomach bleeding.
Avatar f tn I was put on Aggrenox/Aspirin after my stroke about 2 months ago. Does anyone on the same treatment take any kind of Vitamins/Herbs with this medication?
Avatar n tn Does anyone take vitamins/herbs with aggrenox and aspirin?
Avatar f tn I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?
Avatar n tn you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure. drink 1-2 full cups water 60 minutes prior to injection. eat a LIGHT meal.
Avatar f tn About 1-1/2 months ago he started experiencing mild itching on his legs and has now become chronic all over his body. Most of his meds have rash and itching side effects. Aggrenox was just changed to Plavix, but the itching has not stopped. 325mg of aspirin is also a future consideration as a blood thinner. He was given Ativan 0.5mg two days ago to stop the itching. The first night he practically scratched two wholes in his paralyzed arm.

1189223 tn?1264553189 125mg per day, Aspirin 325mg per day, Aggrenox 1000 mg twice a day, Isosorbide 30mg 3 times a day, Enalpril 10mg per day. I have been fighting this heart and neurological problem for 10 years now and am now going into A-Fib at least twice a day for the past month. My Doctors have said there is nothing left to do.
Avatar m tn He takes an aspirin a day as he was having recurrent TIAs and the risk on Coumadin was too great. He tried Plavix(was allergic) and Aggrenox which increased the headache frequency. We are just at a loss with his current neurologist and feel he is at a loss of what to do. We are seeing a new neurologist on Thursday with the hopes of finding something that will help.
Avatar n tn What are the relative merits for aspirin treatment versus Coumadin for Atrial Fib when there are little or no other stroke isk factors?
Avatar m tn We studied deaths due to cancer during and after randomised trials of daily aspirin versus control done originally for prevention of vascular events.
Avatar f tn The treatment options for these anomalies include antiplatelet medication to decrease the risk of clot formation (aspirin, warfarin) versus surgical or percutaneous correction. There is no clear evidence that closure is better than medical therapy because it is not clear that strokes that occur in this population are actually related to the defect.
1189223 tn?1264553189 Am on Coumadin 10-mg per day, Digoxin .125mg per day, Aspirin 325mg per day, Aggrenox 1000 mg twice a day, Isosorbide 30mg 3 times a day, Enalpril 10mg per day and Coreg 25mg-bid. I have been fighting this heart and neurological problem for 10 years now and am now going into A-Fib at least twice a day for the past month. My Doctors have said there is nothing left to do.
771913 tn?1343331188 d guess your cardiologist will want you to take some stroke prevention measures, maybe just a low dose aspirin. I have no stomach or other problems with aspirin, and in your "shoes" AFib-wise I'd take an aspirin each day. I take my aspirin with breakfast...just a low dose, but I am also on Warfarin.
Avatar f tn Aspirin is a blood thinner. This cause serious issues during pregnancy. Find out if anyone you know sells Essential Oils.
Avatar f tn I've had three miscarriages and my doctor prescribed me baby aspirin (same as low dose aspirin) right after the last one. I am now 6 months pregnant & have been taking 1 pill everyday along with my prenatal vitamins since last January. You can ask your doctor about it & see what they say.
