Aggrenox medication doctor

Common Questions and Answers about Aggrenox medication doctor

aggrenox

Avatar f tn Thank you for answering my question. He hasn't decided on what to do as of yet, but I won't be able to afford the Aggrenox. My husband will be losing his job in 3 days. I was thinking Persantine as well, but will see if my doctor will let me do this. All Aggrenox is is an antiplatelet medication w/aspirin and I don't see why he couldn't just prescribe me an antiplatelet such as Plavix. Will see what happens and let the forum know.

Avatar n tn Aggrenox does have aspirin in it. It is recommended for strokes, as you already know. I'm not sure why the Dr has taken away the Aggrenox. Maybe he feels that taking aspirin is equivalent with less side effects? Aspirin does work well to help prevent stokes and heart attacks. So, there was no reason given for the change?
Avatar n tn Does anyone take vitamins/herbs with aggrenox and aspirin?
1213000 tn?1280463161 any thoughts? Should I be afraid of cardio exercise? should I have LDL aphreses? NOw on Aggrenox and off Effient but on all the other same meds Additional info: Since Jan, I quit smoking, lost 45 lbs, lowered LDL by 300 points (to 127) and raised HDL by 25 pts(to 40) lowered triglic to 70. what the heck?
Avatar n tn In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.
Avatar n tn you MUST contact your prescribing dr to get approval to stop this medication. Aggrenox, Plavix, and Aspirin must be discontinued for 7 days prior to injection and Ticlid 14 days prior to injection. Coumadin should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to injection and you will need to have blood work completed within 24 hours prior to procedure. drink 1-2 full cups water 60 minutes prior to injection. eat a LIGHT meal.
Avatar n tn Dilantin doesn’t cause depression but can cause decrease in renal function, headache, dizziness, confusion, double vision etc.It is best to discuss your concerns with your doctor before initiation of an alternative antiepileptic drug. Do keep us posted. Regards!
469014 tn?1207171512 Why can't a cardiac doctor (intervential cardiologist) do angioplasty to clear the half blocked arteries and possibly clear the totally blocked artery. That doesn't require surgery, but your post doesn't indicate a reason why your father is a high risk for surgery?
Avatar f tn I've found that Aggrenox seems to work without side effects. It's primarily baby aspirin, but also contains a drug that prevents platelets from sticking together. I've taken it twice a day since my stroke, and it appears to work, but who ever knows?
1189223 tn?1264553189 Am on Coumadin 10-mg per day, Digoxin .125mg per day, Aspirin 325mg per day, Aggrenox 1000 mg twice a day, Isosorbide 30mg 3 times a day, Enalpril 10mg per day and Coreg 25mg-bid. I have been fighting this heart and neurological problem for 10 years now and am now going into A-Fib at least twice a day for the past month. My Doctors have said there is nothing left to do.
Avatar f tn About 1-1/2 months ago he started experiencing mild itching on his legs and has now become chronic all over his body. Most of his meds have rash and itching side effects. Aggrenox was just changed to Plavix, but the itching has not stopped. 325mg of aspirin is also a future consideration as a blood thinner. He was given Ativan 0.5mg two days ago to stop the itching. The first night he practically scratched two wholes in his paralyzed arm.
Avatar n tn to Mayo and with all saying the same its still not sinking into this head... there is no fix... He has been sent home on a blood thinner (aggrenox) as to not thin the blood to much... With a healthy heart pumping against a 20% opening (when last tested)... So at night he is on oxgen to slow down the heart at night, for the heart pumps harder as ones breathing slows as we sleep... We live 30 mins from the closest hospital which isn't set up to handle this so life fight is another step...
Avatar m tn I take 16 or 17 medications including the all inclusive plavix. a 3.25 aspiriin. AGGRENOX,Zocor, and a host of others.I watch my diet and exercise until it hurts to prove to my Dr. that I'm not just lying around. With your "scientific ' MINDS can you help?
Avatar f tn I have read your question carefully and I was struck by how much you have been through and what you have been able to achieve. You should be proud of yourself, not embarrassed. It is important to be honest with your neurologist. I don't believe that your medical conditions are adequately optimized at this time. The migraines can be much better treated by preventing them with newer anti-seizure medications such as Topomax or Depacote.
Avatar f tn So my doctor prescribed me some nausea pills which I have been taking for a week now. I was looking at the box and came across the sentence "Not to be taken while pregnant" What the hell!? Should I do something!? I'm so angry!
1325672 tn?1290084214 ) Your Doctor wants to put you on an extended release formulas because the medication your on is a short acting medication that will eventually stop working due to tolerance and you will just have to keep taking more and more. Most CP Pt's do take a long acting medicine with a short acting medication for break thru pain.
Avatar m tn No I am worried that they are testing me for some reason. Is it legal for your doctor to ask you to give back medication she prescribed to her office when the medication was obviously filled at a pharmacy?
Avatar f tn s and a major stroke at 46 due to PFO and ASA and have been taking Aggrenox and Simvastatin since the event. I had infectious endocarditis (symptoms mimicked congestive heart failure) at 47 at MVP which has since calcified and since unknown source, had major anitbiotics covering every possibility for 2 months through a PIC line (vanc, gent, and 2 others) which resulted in kidney failure and creatinine now close to normal.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Valporic Acid for the Bipolar although I feel that the dose is not strong enough also I feel like I have lost my mind. The doctor has given my resperidone but I have been feeling like someone is out to get me lately and also thinking the computer is communicating with me. It's really scarying me ..... I just want to be well. Please help.
Avatar f tn This all started after a severe reaction to a medication which caused my whole body to twitch uncontrollably. In the ER, they told me my problem wa simply that I needed to calm down and sent me home twitching all over, and so dizzy I had to hold the walls to stand. The next day, a family practictioner realized what was really going on, and took me off the offending medication. Anyway, I was diagnosed bipolar II a couple years ago. Since then, I can't receive medical care.
Avatar f tn The doctor who prescribed the medication is know longer in my network.. So as of right now i dont have a doctor to ask if its safe to combine the medication.. I dont think over the counter medication is going to help with these finding..
Avatar f tn http://www.drugwatch.com/ssri/pregnancy/ Pretty much everything you've listed should not be taken during pregnancy. My wife won't even take Advil, as per doctor recommended, but this is a question best asked to your doctor. My advice? Kick the pills. If caffeine and Aspirin can hurt a child, imagine the effects of anti-depressants.
Avatar m tn Ceruvin AF - 1 daily; Rosuvas 10 mg - 1 daily, Valparin CR 5oo mg - Twice daily, voglibo M .02 - 2 daily. Yesterday, by chance I lifted some heavy material and chest pain started immediately. I rushed to a Doctor who suggested me to go for Echo Cardiograph after ECG. The Echo Cardiograph revealed 'thin Septum with hypokinesia, LVEF 35%'. After this, the Doctor, advised to take Cardivas 3.125 tablets along with the ones I am already taking. No other procedure, treatment, etc.
