419309 tn?1326506891 (1) Has anyone had to change health coverage/insurance carriers during treatment? Due to misinformation from my pharmacy and current HMO as well a low prescription maximum, my husband may have to change insurance carriers during treatment. Besides making sure all his doctors are still "in-network", is there anything I should be checking on before changing policies? (Thankfully, pre-existing conditions are not at issue, so we're ok there.
Avatar f tn I fund it rude of you to imply that we don't have a right to health care because it raises your insurance premiums. It's nothing to do with those that can't afford health care and everything to do with corporate greed.
Avatar m tn I am so far a healthy 43 year old/m in pa. I am trying to decide which health insurance plan will be good for my situation and I am looking for some opinions here. This Month my group plan ends and I can take cobra but there is no financial benefit to taking my same PPO plan which gives me to price break for being unemployed. So I am trying to look at this at a meaningful way. Since my PPO was $475/m plue $29 dental I just cant be paying that on my own now.
1936411 tn?1333835449 I am entering graduate school this Fall to become a speech-language pathologist. Because we do clinical rotations as part of our master's program, my university requires that all students receive a Hepatitis B immunization. Aetna is refusing to pay my doctor for the immunization, stating that they do not cover routine immunizations for adults.
994817 tn?1249741878 to make sure it isn't something serious like my heart. Well, I'm a self pay; I don't have any health insurance. Or I should say my mom doesn't have health insurance for me because I'm only 17, so it would be her who pays for it. Well, shes a single mom who is a teacher, so she isn't going to be able to afford all of the expensive tests I need to have done in order to rule out a potential heart problem. But if I get health insurance, that is going to be quite a burden on her wallet as well.
Avatar n tn I have a friend who currently works for a big corporation here in Illinois through a temp agency which the temp agency offered health insurance using BCBS of Michigan. The problem was that the monthly premiums were way too high for her to be able to afford so she never did the open enrollment. It was coming out like $350-$400 a month for the monthly premium. She is a healthy person with no pre existing medical conditions.

Avatar m tn So I hope I get the right health insurance that meets what I am looking for and that matches my income. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Health insurance - equitable, adequate health insurance for everyone - is an issue to keep in mind as you plan for the November elections (and even the primaries)!
290018 tn?1240369468 They only cover a certain percentage depending on your coverage selections. My health insurance pays for EVERYTHING except for $150 copay but I have excellent health insurance. My guess is if you have United, you will probably acrrue a similar hospital bill but your best bet would be to call United directly.
Avatar n tn I'm going through a very similar situation, ONLY I'll be 36w4d when my employer is changing our insurance. Aetna went up on them about $80 per employee......So now they are switching. I can't complain too much because my empoyer pays our health ins. Meantime our HR dept. has been keepingme informed so I will know if I am going to have pay anymore towards a deductable. I already paid $2000 so far. Something I did look into a month ago was Medicaid as a secondary ins.
Avatar n tn My husband has AETNA insurance under PPO Plan. We just got married and I would like him to switch to a new insurance and add me too. However he has been diagnosed with Eweing sarcoma and finished with treatments in Oct 2009. All that time he was covered under COBRA group plan and in October 2009 after he was done with treatments he got a job and a new insurance ( same provider AETNA but different company he is working for now).
1391695 tn?1298143389 OK, thanks, hopefully my insurance will cover, if not, this is good info. Do you think I can call my insurance and ask? If so, what is the exact technical shot I am asking about?
Avatar f tn This is where your State's Insurance Commisioner's office can come in handy. Hang in there. Many things in health care are not fair. I now have to pay $7,000 out of pocket in the next 36 months to a hospital cancer clinic which almost killed me. I also will owe for my cancer care at Duke which is higher in out of pocket costs. I am paying two hospitals at the same time but I am alive to do it.
Business man3 My wife and I are on Medicare with Aetna backup. We are looking at a new insurance policy (Medicare suplement with United Health Care but need to select a drug plan. The following are our regular prescriptions: Atenolol 50 mg, Levothyroxine 0.1 mg, Celebrex 200 mg, Alrex Eye Drops, Fluoxetine 20 mg, Omeprazole 20 mg, Meloxicam 15 mg, and Lisinopril 20 mg. With these as our regular daily subscriptions, can you recommend a Drug Plan that would be the most economical?
798555 tn?1292791151 Health insurance is a hot topic as the prices soar and they cover less and less, no shocker there. Changes are happening at a very fast pace all of a sudden, and, of course we get the short end of the stick. Some basic meds are not even covered at all by some insurance companies now. I have not personally seen any insurance company list hypothyroid on there current conditions list or denial of coverage list, but apparently this can be the case.
446474 tn?1446351282 (PPACA) Its implementation will create major changes in how healthcare is delivered and how health insurance is purchased. Transitional High Risk Insurance Pool – Effective July 1, 2010, persons who are not able to purchase health insurance due to a pre-existing condition will have the opportunity to purchase “affordable” coverage through high risk insurance pools operated by the states and funded by the federal government.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, "health" insurance in this country is really only beneficial if you're healthy. You only find out when you need to use it how you sometimes are forced to fight for every little thing.
178698 tn?1228777938 I don't know Yvette, I'm sorry. There's a new forum for insurance. If no one knows here, maybe they will. I have Aetna and they don't cover diddly.
Avatar f tn Your English is fine, btw. I'm no expert on health insurance, but one question is whether you are paying for the insurance as an individual or if you have it through where you work, or perhaps a working partner/spouse. It sounds like you are paying for insurance as an individual. If that is the case, then I'm guessing your chances of getting insurance from another company while having hep C is probably close to zero.
163305 tn?1333672171 A major one is that 45 million Americans lack health insurance, while Canada and many European countries have universal health care, they say. But "it's not as simple as saying we don't have national health insurance," said Sam Harper, an epidemiologist at McGill University in Montreal. "It's not that easy." Among the other factors: • Adults in the United States have one of the highest obesity rates in the world. Nearly a third of U.S.
Avatar f tn My insurance doesn't over infertility treatment. Should i buy a new insurance type? if yes, what do you suggest. Or what should i do? Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn I had my medela double breast pump 100% covered. I have Aetna. I just ordered from Byram Health and they check with your doctor for a script and it was mailed to me within a week or two. No leg work on my end - it was a great experience. I hear a lot of hospitals use Medela and it is a really good pump overall.
314532 tn?1206418709 Thankfully,Roche has a program called Pegassist that jumped in and has ben supplying riba at no cost to me. It turns out, my insurance co. (Aetna) is really only for healthy people. Just wanted you to know...you are not alone and things will work out. Try not to stress yourself out... I will say a prayer for you tonight that this will get straightened out tomorrow.
1284791 tn?1271997867 As far as I know, IVF is offered only thorugh group insurance coverage. We delayed seeking fertility treatment in order to get our insurance worked out first. My husband and I formed our own husband/wife group (he owns his own business, I went to work for him, he pays employee taxes on me). Our accountant helpd us with the paperwork. After we set all of this up we applied for group coverage. We did this in order to get maternity coverage, which is otherwise unavailble in Texas.
