Avatar n tn I also do the sinus rinse and have veramyst spray. Ear, nose, and throat specialist said to keep doing what I am doing and contact him in 2 months. I also have GERD and am currently taking Nexium since last May 2007. I also just bought an air purifier to put in the bedroom as a last hope. No one seems to be able to help. The allergy medicenes such as drixoral, etc. seem to cause a cough.

ANY IDEAS WHAT CAN BE GOING ON WITH ME ?
Avatar n tn m 40 years old and recently found out that I also have osteo penia in one of the vertabrae in my lower back and my doctor wants me to take Actonel...however, those bone density medications can really exacerbate the reflux problems.
Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar f tn I have IBS> I started to take fosamax once a week (for osteo). did so for 4 weeks. it seemed to bother my esophagus (bumping, reflux) so my doctor suggested actonel. i took one pill a week ago and since have had increasing sensation of a lump in my throat, and like I'm full of phlegm that I can't ever swallow down. I can eat so of course I am swallowing. I'm off all drug right now but throat/phlegm sensations feel settled in, especailly bad at night, and are anxiety provoking.
Avatar n tn I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn 5 years is the standard protocol, but your decision should be between you and your oncologist. I don't know the specifics of you or your cancer, but I can tell you that I'm premenopausal and was Stage 3 and the plan is to keep me on Tamoxifen for at least 10 years. Understand the side-effects aren't great, but a return of cancer that can be prevented would be worse, don't ya think? Doesn't guarantee cancer won't return, but it has been shown to help.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you've seen your doctor and that they've been treating you. If they suspected throat cancer, I am sure they'd do the necessary tests to check on that diagnosis. Here is a link to information on throat cancer including the symptoms that people typically suffer. https://www.mayoclinic.

Avatar n tn t know if that makes sense, like when she is laying down it flows back into her throat) and so over the years, her throat has suffered from the acid...she also feels pain in her throat...her throat burns everytime she talks and swallows (occasionally). her voice has became rough/scratchy. she also feels a lump in her throat. help me....so what is it? cancer? or ...
331673 tn?1199354285 I was given a choice to either quit smoking and hope that we were early enough to have caught it, and hope that my throat repairs itself, or end up with throat cancer and all that goes with it. I quit smoking. My following check ups have been all good. I am LUCKY, because I didnt wait, I have lost to many friends and family to cancer, (on my husbands side even non smokers). So please dont wait, get to a Doctor. I may not be here today if I didnt Jump to it.
Avatar m tn anything is possible but it is best to wait and see what the Dr tells you and in the mean time try to avoid foods and bevs that could trigger a flare up if this is only a GERD issue. I also know how waiting to see a Dr adds stress, but there is no way for us to know...but anything is possible...and why I suggested to look to your families medical history to see if anyone in your family have had either of the 2 in question. Praying all goes well for you....keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 26 year old male and have been experiencing a lump like feeling in my throat for about 3 weeks. I have had trouble breathing through my mouth. I get sore throats on and off and also have woken with a nose bleed about a week ago which has never happened. I have had headaches for 4 months straight. The lump feels like my throat is about halfway open right behind my adams apple. I am worried that it may be throat cancer. Does anyone have any ideas?
Avatar f tn I went to see an ENT and he did a scope (went in through the nose and looked down at the throat), I had a CT of the throat, and an Ultrasound of my thryroid and a Upper GI Series (Barium Swallow). There was nothing he could see from the scoping, the CT came back negative, the Barium swallow showed mild to moderate acid reflux, and the ultrasound showed nodules (which the doc said was nothing to worry about). All in all everything that was done did not show any type of mass or obstruction.
Avatar f tn It helped to calm my fears and he talks about the same article I read which states high strain hpv (not the kind causing warts but the kind causing cervical cancer) is now a big factor in the rise of throat cancer. According to him less than 5% of people with high strain develop throat cancer. I can rest a little better now. Thanks again.
Avatar m tn Sometimes I have throat pain. I have had this a lot of my life, it comes and goes, sometimes it will stay away as long as a year or so, but somehow it manages to come back. Do you think that this could be some type of cancer of the throat? I did have a lot of sore throats when I was younger. But I don't seem to have as many of them now, but I do have the tightness problem.
Avatar n tn My husband has/ had throat cancer. He went through kemo and radiation. He is going to tested Fri. to see if treatment worked. He still has very bad breath. Also 2 other spots have shown up too. He also has a large lump on his leg.
Avatar f tn Furthermore, what appears to be blood vessels are also prodominant on my palatine uvula and the wall at the back of my throat. Should I be worried about any of this?
Avatar n tn The risk is pretty low, with the vast amount of the sexually active population having hpv at some point (80%) and the low numbers of oral and throat cancers- it can be concluded that your chances are low, but no impossible another factor they are connecting with hpv and throat cancer is marijuana use-whether or not this is just a correlatio is still up for further research.
Avatar f tn My boyfriend has just undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy for head and neck cancer .... he has had tonsils removed, lymph glands removed and still has the sore throat when swallowing , a feeling s if there is something at the back of the throat . A few weeks ago he had a camera up the nose and down the throat and found to have a lesion on the vocal cord ...he's waiting to go have another biopsie on this , do you think this could be another case of cancer ?
Avatar m tn It is found in the mouth/throat of about 7-14% of sexually active adults and causes mouth/throat cancer. The vaccine does not prevent transmission of the virus and it does not treat the virus that is already acquired. It greatly reduces the chance of catching the strains of the virus most likely to cause cancer if given before exposure. HPV is spread through oral sex. It is found in the mouth/throat of about 7-14% of sexually active adults and causes mouth/throat cancer.
Avatar m tn 2) He drinks a small glass of aloe vera juice before bed. It soothes your throat and tummy and has enzymes that get rid of excess gas that may cause reflux. 3) If he feels heartburn or reflux coming on, he pops 2 activated charcoal capsules. Works like a natural sponge, soaking up all the nasties. These supplements can be found at health stores or specialty vitamin shops. He also used to keep a piece of plain white bread next to the bed in case of heartburn.
974371 tn?1424653129 I have read a lot on these boards of people complaining of nausea, me included. I have suffered with it daily for months, no relief even from Zofran. One Doc said I had a motility disorder, another one said IBS. I was pretty much confined to home. Read ginger tea helped so tried that, with some relief. Saw a GI doctor at Stanford who suggested Ginger and Acupuncture. I had gotten acupuncture before with great results for sciatic issues. Made an appt with my acupuncture doctor, who is great!
Avatar m tn Food and Drug Administration raised concerns about the potential for some serious side effects in women taking bone-building drugs called bisphosphonates, specifically Fosamax, Actonel and Reclast. The published findings are not new.
