Avatar n tn I take once monthly Actonel. While I was pushing the pill through the foil blister, it broke. I did not take that pill for fear that it could cause stomach problems. My question is would it have been safe to take? Also, if I contact Proctor & Gamble, do you think they might replace the pill. If it was a daily pill, I wouldn't worry about, but I just lost a whole month of medicine due to a faulty package design.
Avatar f tn com/arthritis/avascular-necrosis-osteonecrosis-symptoms-treatments#2. And here is an overview of the type of surgery that she had https://nyulangone.org/conditions/osteonecrosis/treatments/joint-preserving-surgery-for-osteonecrosis. I do hope it wasn't useless to have the surgery but I would question that doctor about what is next if they feel that way. There are other treatment options. And it's very important to find the core cause of why it is happening to begin with.
Avatar m tn Osteonecrosis Aseptic necrosis, Avascular necrosis, Ischemic necrosis Osteonecrosis occurs when your bones lose their blood supply. The bones die and eventually collapse, leading to pain and arthritis. You can have osteonecrosis in one or several bones. It is most common in the upper leg. Other common sites are your upper arm and your knees, shoulders and ankles. The disease can affect men and women of any age, but it usually strikes in your thirties, forties or fifties.
Avatar n tn I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn One may develop some kind of intestinal problems with Actonel and the alternative to that is to not to take drug empty stomach, that is to take it after a meal. Please let us know if you may have nay other queries and what your doctor says. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Yes, I saw that osteonecrosis. Scary. The blood supply actually stops flowing to the jaw and it dies. She is taking calcim supplements and vitamine D with 50,000 IU per week. But I still don't understand the underlying cause of the bone loss. Wonder if her her low thyroid chemistry causes this. Wonder if she would take synthroid if her problem would resolve.
199980 tn?1233797404 I had groin pain for a long time and then I was diagnosed with osteonecrosis where the bone dies. I also had this same condition in my shoulder. Both of these areas were injured when I was young but mixed with the amount of steroids that I have taken over the last 10 years the osteonecrosis developed. The symptoms started with range of motion issues and then progressed to unbearable pain. I have to say that I was humbled by the pain. I would scream out in pain when I tried to get up.
Avatar n tn There are reports that link people taking IV fosamx to osteonecrosis of the bone having oral and maxilofacial surgery. Treatment really depends upon degree of severity. Most of the time patients are advised hyperbaric chambers.
Avatar m tn Non-hormonal biphosphonates (such as Fosamax and Actonel) increase bone strength and are available as once-a-week pills. These can also be taken. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
553692 tn?1215277731 I think the longer osteonecrosis goes undiagnosed the more damaging it can do to your bone and joints. I'm sure more people will come by who understand this a little better than I do and can give you a better indication of what your next step might be. I hope you find the answers you need!
Avatar n tn After taking Fosomax for several months I noticed a snapping sound with pain in my jaw when I opened my mouth wide to take a bite of a sandwich. I asked my doctor about it and she said TMJ. I also said that I feel pain deep within my ear and she said that would be caused by the TMJ. When I asked her if the Fosomax could be causing the problem she said absolutely not. She asked if I grind my teeth at night and told me that I may not know that I'm doing it. I really don't think that I am.
Avatar f tn i am a student at the university of leeds. I study product design and for my final project i am designing a pill dispenser. would anyone feel comfortable answering a questionnaire i have designed towards people who take regular medication?
720656 tn?1311040235 You might want to ask your pharmacist for more specific directions as far as the timing of your meds. I take Actonel once a month and my pharmacist said it was fine to take it at the same time as my levothyroxine since Actonel is also supposed to be taking first thing in the morning. Don't mix meds unless you get an all clear from a pharmacist.
Avatar m tn The bursae and soft tissue surrounding the shoulder are unremarkable. Impression: 1. Supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendinopathy however, the tendons remain intact. 2. Mild degenerative joint disease of the acromioclavicular joint without large osteophytes.
Avatar f tn If diagnosed with narcolepsy, and regulated and controlled with Meds can I still do whatever job? I want to be an under water welder, and I'm worried that once I get the diagnosis I won't be able to do the job I really want to do.
Avatar n tn My son ,29 has been sick for 2 and a half years with severe pain in jaws and systemic electric shock pain going through his body. He was healthy working individual who now is so debilitated and can not work or function. His lyme test here in Canada was neg. His Tetanus Antibody IgG was 2.430 IU/ml. The comment reads:Antibody to Tetanus present above the protective level. The lab here does not do IgM for Tetanus. His last Tetanus injection was 15 years ago.
Avatar m tn No this is not from TMJ, I had osteonecrosis in my jawbone, had 3 surgeries and haven't had any pain since I was on the methadone but now that I am down to 18mgs the pain is starting to come through, my sister tells me it is rebound pain???
Avatar n tn I have started mega doses of supplements and calcium and D and excercise and I want someone to tell me that that has worked for them. Most comments I get is to take the drug because it's more effective. I can't believe everyone is taking bisphosphonates or other drugs like that. Please let me hear from you if you see this!,,, Thanks, and hope you are doing well!
Avatar f tn I have taken fosamax and actonel and have had stomach problems and aching bones. My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. Avatar n tn I think sometimes the radiologist can tell, like in my case, he highly suggested I had osteonecrosis of the femur rather than osteochronditis dissiccans, and which the radiologist thought after reading the bone scan because it was a hot lesion. It also said there was a large Baker's cyst.
Avatar f tn It came on suddenly and it is very painful. I have seen 2 specialists and have had 2 lots of steroid injections in both knees and one steroid injection in my right hip. I have been taking Meloxicam and painkillers. Today I have been to see a specialist with the view to having knee replacement surgery. After looking at my recent x rays he has informed me that I have Avascular Necrosis in both knees. My left knee joint has collapsed and the right one is heading for collapse.
