Actiq fentanyl

Common Questions and Answers about Actiq fentanyl

actiq

Avatar f tn There are strict lockdown controls on the fast acting fentanyl medications like Actiq. I agree that you should have your sister talk to her doctor about the Fentanyl patches. I am on the 50 mcg/hr patch and it works really well. I do have breakthrough pain so I have to take oxycodone IR for those times. Your sister might need a stronger short acting pain medication to compliment the fentanyl patch such as liquid morphine (what Dee mentioned) or liquid oxycodone.
Avatar f tn I've been on Fentanyl 50 patch and sublingual fentanyl 600micg ( A bit like the Actiq Lollys)10 times a day for 3 years for pain as a result of Cancer and treatment. I now want to come off it by reducing the sublingual fentanyl(Actiq Lollys) first. I am now down to 4 a day over 3 weeks but have suffered sweats ,diarrhoea and anxiety in the process. My Drs supporting me but am I going too quickly ? if I go slower will there be less side effects or will I get the withdrawal symptoms any way?
Avatar n tn However, there are a few patients with chronic non-cancer pain that have been prescribed Actiq (the fentanyl lolipops) or Fentora if and only if all other treatments failed and they are experiencing intractable pain, also known as suicide pain.
Avatar f tn i weened myself off oxycontin in 03 without much withdrawl, but my dr. then placed me on 400 mcg actiq 5 times a day and 30 mg kadian once daily. the kadian never seemed like the problem, i could take it or not, but i could not go without the actiq.i always ran out b4 appt time and so forth. i realized i had a problem so i began to detox myself, and my dental bills were racking up from sucking lolipops all day. my dr. @ my clinic was and is a wonderful dr.
Avatar f tn I did get a clean drug screen today, I believe it is the actiq (aka loz. fentanyl) that is breaking down wrong in my liver or renal. I think it is confusing the chemical difference which sadly is not much. But it is causing problems. Again, thank you all so much.
Avatar f tn However, the new doctor is not registered with TIRF REMS to be able to prescribe Actiq that I have been taking for 9 years. I am post stage 3 breast cancer, double mastectomy, peripheral neuropathy and lymphedema to name a few of my issues not to mention I have tried every opiod on the market and I'm also opiod tolerant. He stated that he is not willing to register and that I need to find a new Doctor who is.
Avatar f tn Hi I have stopped actiq/abstral now day 17 and tapered a 50 patch down to 12mcg/hr and will not replace patch after 3 days. Any suggestions on how to cope. Withdrawals not too bad so far but still have cravings.
Avatar m tn I am looking for a pharmacy where I can order Fentanyl Lollipop. My gp wants me to use it.I have hep c for 30 years I use 3pills of 12 mg+240 ml hydromorphone liquid prn per month, after 15 years that I use it no more releaf for the pain. that is the reason why I needthis info.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer in 2009 and went through chemo and radiation. My doctor put me on Actiq and they worked well. Here I am 4 years later and am still taking 4 or 5 200 strength and 2 400 strength a day. Of course I have become more tolerant over time and it takes more to feel better. I just had to have all my teeth pulled due to radiation affects over time. Now I really don't have that much pain.
Avatar m tn about 5 years ago I was put on a treatment regimen that literally gave me my life back. I was put on fentanyl patches round the clock and Actiq for breakthrough pain. At the time my insurance company covered it. Shortly before an unrelated insurance company change I received notification that the medication would not be covered anymore. We changed companies and the new company did not cover it either. I am in the appeal process at this time. I just received a denial for the first appeal.
Avatar f tn My concern with Actiq or fentanyl is that at some point maximum pain relief is achieved then increasing dosages are need to maintain that relief. The risk of addiction is very real, then what? Is the patient best served this way? jb solicited comments from this forum and that's all we are providing. I take oxycodone for the last ten years for acute crushed nerve pain. Periodically I take drug vacations. It's not pleasant but I don't want to risk negative consequences.
Avatar m tn You have to just spread out the time in between that you take them. I was also on the Fentanyl patch and was using the Actiq for breakthru pain. Is the Actiq the only thing you are taking? If it is you can ask your doc to switch you to the patch. Then they can go down on the MCG. (amount) on the patch to wean down. The doc cannot make you stay on your meds. That is ludicrous. I do understand them saying you still need the meds right now since you are still having surgeries.
688620 tn?1227378284 If the patch is not effective, you can also try the Fentanyl lollipops, generic name is Actiq. The medication is absorbed very quickly through your mucosal membranes in your mouth. It works great for breakthru pain. But it is VERY powerful and you have to give yourself time to get used to side effects. Also, this may seem like a no-brainer, but I keep mine locked up in a safe as it is would be very dangerous if a child, or anyone not used to opiates, were to get ahold of them.
725248 tn?1316162245 Hi. im on the fentanyl patch and i think it works good and dont give me the realy druged up feeling like a lot of pills. For B/T pain i take norco 10/325 2x3 or 4 a day.
1271743 tn?1320892461 Is it long enough that possibly the Fentanyl meds would work for you again? I was thinking maybe the Fentanyl Actiq (Lollipop) would work for the BT meds. Also, when you have gone through all of the different dosages fo the MsContin it might be possible to try the Patch again and it might work at a lower level for you. I'm just trying to help, I hope that this didn't sound too off the wall to you. :)...
Avatar m tn for example, if I am having a severe pain flare which caused me to need additional rescue medication for pain, (usually Fentanyl Actiq), to add to what I already am taking, my doctor will not give this to me without the steroid shot first. Once, when in the ER, I refused a shot, explaining the side effects, and I was told that they could not do anything for me then if I would not take the shot.
Avatar m tn Congratulations Bamaforlife, Well Done It gets better I am now day 15 off Actiq (Oral Fentanyl). Loperamide is a must for the diarrhoea. Try to eat at normal meal times even if its a tiny amount on a large plate and you only eat a few mouthfuls make sure its nutritious. I couldn't so I took high calorie nutritional supplements, plenty of vitamins. good diet helps raise serotonin levels. Diazepam 2mg for emergency use only.
Avatar f tn I ended up getting off the patch and switching to actiq, the oral suckers. They helped much better with my abdominal pain, but just to worn you, it's not fun getting off fetanyl if you ever cross that bridge. I'd switch to something else. I just wasn't thrilled with the patches. Good luck.
Avatar f tn ve just weaned of 10 Actiq a day and the fentanyl patch and I had some rebound pain and now pain is only slightly worse than when I was on all the medication. It wasn't doing much other than causing an addiction and feel good factor. I am much better of without it. yes I will need pain relief in the future but that's another day. Have you thought about what will happen if you have an accident and need pain meds in hospital.
Avatar f tn That is a possibility BUT Fentanyl only comes as a patch, injection or a sucker which is known as Actiq or something close to that. It's not offered as pills, as far as I'm aware.
Avatar f tn As for something that is as potent (probably more potent) and short-acting, you could talk to your physician about Actiq. They are fentanyl lolipops that work much faster than the standard short acting opioid formulations. You could also ask about hydromorphone or oxymorphone. I know oxymorphone is the ingredient in Opana, which is a long acting medication. Not sure if they have a short acting form of this medication and the same goes for the hydromorphone.
