Avatar n tn Hi, There are several treatment options available for acne - topical application creams, oral medications, laser treatment etc. It would be best to consult your dermatologist to decide about the best treatment option in your case. Comedonal (non-inflammatory) acne: local treatment with azelaic acid, salicylic acid, topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide. Mild papulo-pustular (inflammatory) acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids, topical antibiotics (such as erythromycin).

Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.
Avatar n tn Now his doctor has him on topical accutane and another topical application. He is having severe flare ups and when he applies the accutane it burns. He's fed up with this. Any thoughts? i will call his doctor, of course, but am wondering if you have any ideas.
Avatar n tn Why do you wait a year to prescribe topical treatment after Accutane? What skin care regime do you recommend? Do you prescribe antibiotics if the Accutane doesn't perform well? It has been difficult to get rationale for Accutane treatment. Thank you for your advice...
Avatar m tn Hello, For premature acne, if the acne is protected from the sunlight and sometimes an antioxidant treatment if applied in the initial stage to cure the lesions of acne then it can be cured at the beginning. Then medical treatment is the same as adult acne i.e initially benzoyl peroxide and topical antibiotics are used. But they are to be used under medical supervision and not one one’s own.
Avatar m tn Hello, For balanitis, apply the cream on the glans and under the foreskin also. Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

An experienced dermatologist will be the best person to do this.Do not pick on your pimples.Only use medications that were prescribed by a physician . Some dermatologists may ask you to change your soaps and shampoo. The water may also play a role.
Avatar n tn I found two articles in the medical literature about electrothermolysis, just uncontrolled pilot studies, but neither referred to acne treatment--one was about treating facial seborrhea, the other was about hair removal. So basically, I don't know. There are other acne treatments you might want to consider, such as laser treatments to minimize oil glands, They are safe and have shown modest effectiveness, though it's not always long lasting.
Avatar n tn t say what you have already tried but the standard treatment for body acne is a course of oral antibiotics like Oxytetracycline 250mg twice daily and a topical retinoid gel such as Retin-a. It would be unusual to get acne on your arms, this is more likely to be keratosis pilaris rubra. However, Retin-a is also effective for this condition.
Avatar f tn I believe abrasion on my skin causes acne breakouts. Ever since using back scrubbers, acne appeared and left acne scars after disappearing. I totally lost my confidence in dressing up for summer and I cant go shirtless, I'm forced to wear a shirt when I go swimming and its bothersome. My self-esteem has hit rock bottom ever since these deep scars appeared. I never knew skin could do that.

Avatar m tn I've been to about two different dermatologist because of my acne, for some reason they become VERY swollen and red. I had to change my doctor, because the first treatment I had a bad reaction to the pills he prescribed. My second dermatologist just prescribed me clindoxyl gel. I've been using it for about more than a year now. I should have stopped by after 3 months into the treatment, however I couldn't, and now I feel silly going into his office after all this time lost.
