Common Questions and Answers about Severe acne treatment reviews

acne

Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to cystic acne. Cystic acne is the most severe form of acne. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than the more superficial inflammation from common acne. Since they are severe, so systemic medications are usually required. The treatment consists of topical and oral antibiotics, tretinoin, oral contraceptives in females and Intralesional corticosteroid injections. Very severe cases may need excision and drainage.
Avatar n tn I have severe cysitc acne that covers my upper back. I went to a dermatologist for this condition beginning at age 12. During the course of treatment I was perscribed Minocycline, Doxycycline, tetracycline, and sulfa based medications, all resulting in allergic reactions. I was finally placed on Accutane with positive results while taking the drug, however six months after completing treatment, the acne returned again.
Avatar f tn d have it checked out by a dermatologist. As for the acne, I have PCOS and am constantly dealing with it. I recently started using neutregenia skin id and LOVE it. Consumer reviews show that 80% of women have had positive results from it. It isn't that expensive to try either.

Avatar n tn There is no miracle cure for acne. Cortisone shots reduce inflammation and allergic symptoms but can actually induce acne. The drug considered the "gold standard" treatment for acne is Accutane (oral Isotretinoin). This is a power drug for people with severe acne which has not responded to standard treatments.
Avatar m tn ve suffered from severe sweating since the onset of puberty and also had severe acne as a teenager. For acne, I was prescribe 6 months of accutane - which did wonders for my facial/body acne. However, in the last couple of years I have struggled with controlling back acne. For sweating, when I was 20 I received botox injections in my forhead and armpits - which worked well. Not amazingly, but helped for sure. I had been getting injections every 6 months.
Avatar f tn It is believed that isotretinoin works primarily by reducing the secretion of oils from the glands, however some studies suggest that it affects other acne-related factors as well. Isotretinoin has been shown to be very effective in treating severe acne and can either improve or clear well over 80% of patients. The drug has a much longer effect than anti-bacterial treatments and will often cure acne for good.
Avatar m tn The treatment requires close medical supervision by a dermatologist because the drug has many known side effects (many of which can be severe). About 25% of patients may relapse after one treatment. In those cases, a second treatment for another 4-6 months may be indicated to obtain desired results.
Avatar n tn A complete evaluation of your acne problem is necessary. Other options may be available for acne treatment. The severity and extent of your acne has to be considered here. There are certain factors to consider when using accutane. This includes pregnancy , use of other medications and psychiatric side effects .
1238678 tn?1321857976 I just finished my first treatment of lupron. It did help with the pain tremendously for me, but the hot flashes were the hardest side effect that i had to deal with. I am now going in for my first LAP on friday and was told i need to take another treatment after the procedure. I just dealt with the hot flashes as they mostly were the strongest at night time for me. Best of luck.

583092 tn?1218128207 So I started using this new acne treatment and it was doimg fine. I mean I still get a few breakout but it was clearing my blemishes and my skin felt better. After about a month my neck and my eye lids started to itch. I am not sure why this happened but I thought it was like a rash or infection so I put anitbiotic on it and then it felt better. So I told my sis and she said it my be eczema and I have never had eczema before so I looked it up and tried to find about it.

Avatar m tn Hi, I am interested in Red light therapy to help improve skin condition and skin aging symptoms, such as to help with sun damage. There are both places you can go for treatment and home units you can buy, they average around $350. Tanning salons are now even offering Red Light beds, so it definitely is becoming kind of a craze. It has also been on Doctor Oz show, though not sure of the reliability of that. I would be interested in a home unit.
