Mild papulo-pustular (inflammatory) acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids, topical antibiotics (such as erythromycin). Moderate inflammatory acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids combined with oral antibiotics (tetracyclines). Isotretinoin is an option.
Avatar m tn You may need treatment for as long as you are prone to acne. Antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline may need to be taken long term, and most patients can do this without serious side effects. Bert is right. Differin is a topical syntheitc retinoid which is really effective and generally well tolerated. Have you discussed Accutane (oral Isotretinoin) with your doctor? This is considered the "gold star" treatment for acne.

I do wash my back with acne wash to see if that will help and because I do work out at a gym, I wash and change my shirt when I get home. Avatar f tn Treating acne during pregnancy can be a little tricky. It is considered best to avoid chemical treatment at this stage. There are a couple of home remedies that you could follow. 1. Drink lots of water, keep you'd body hydrated and cool 2. Drink fresh tender coconut water if available 3. Apply lemon juice on your acne. It has been tried and tested. All the best on your pregnancy !
Avatar n tn It is very irritating and i would like to get rid of it. Should i consult my Dermotologist? Or is there any cures i can go about at home, such as dieting, wear loose clothing, or just have a friend of mine pop them all then apply ointment? Please help, this is a big confidence problem.
Avatar m tn The following image is very similar to the lesions along the sides of the back over the lats and the solid lesions at the top match the other description of the tinea versicolor. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002436/figure/A001465.B1890/?report=objectonly Pt has had a more extreme outbreak of the monomorphic steroid induced acne over the left deltoid since first publication.
Avatar n tn I don't have a history of acne, but recently I 've been breaking out around my hairline, across my forehead, nose and cheeks. The acne is red and very small bumps, as if it was irritaton. I thought it might be an allergic raction to a hair product or new facial cleanser but stopping use of these new things hasn't stopped the situation. I've recently started back at the gym and running and sweating a lot and a co-worker of mine said that this is probably the cause.

Avatar n tn It was mainly pimply so I used an acne pad to clean it twice a day. The pimples cleared-up but now there is just a red, itchy, blotchy RASH. Any ideas what I could use OTC? This discussion is related to Irritated Underarm Rash.
Avatar f tn ve tried every kind of soap and face washing contraption as well as home remedies. Are there any new drugs out there that seem to help with this type of acne? Im so tired of having bad skin.
Avatar n tn Your family MD sould be able to tell you what it is and treat it. Please do not pick at or poke at it yourself. Even if you are not prone to acne, the back is a sweat and grease producer and can get pores that are blocked with sebum, etc. It's an EZ fix but for a MD to do.
Avatar f tn They have the common sense things like do not pick, washed twice a day, if you have oily hair wash everyday, rinse with warm water, and avoid some medications and over the counter products because they can be harmful to the baby. I have not found any home remedies on how to treat acne naturally. About the only thing that I have found is coconut oil but I do not know where to get it.
559187 tn?1330782856 I found out from the MS nurse that the rash I have all over my face, neck, and back is a side effect of my IV Solu-Medrol treatment and the taper dose of prednisone and is not a rash at all, but is acne. I thought the rash was from my sun exposure while in Mexico earlier this week and that the steroids were probably the culprit. So that was half right. But the nurse said it was acne yet it feels more like a rash to me.
Avatar n tn 1) What is the current and most effective treatment for Acne Inversa? (Most of my reading online was from relatively dated material) I have been taking Accutane for approximately one month and have so far not seen any favorable results. I have also read that Accutane does little for Acne Inversa. Is there truth to this? 2) I have read that Carbon Dioxide Laser Ablation may be just as effective as skin grafts, however, it was an emerging treatment.
Avatar m tn Hello, Fusidic acid and minocycline are both antibiotics which are used for the treatment of acne. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.

Avatar f tn I recently read about a genetic test called AcneDX that tests whether or not oral antibiotics will be an effective acne treatment. My teenaged daughter has moderate acne and tetracycline has been suggested. I'm concerned about giving her a medication that may have side effects and produce an antibiotic resistance later in her life, and it may not even work to clear her acne up. The test sounds like a great way to find out prior to treatment if the antibiotics will help.
