Avatar f tn Hi. Accutane increases the risk of liver problems so avoid too much alcohol whilst taking this medicine. Eloise.
Avatar n tn I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
Avatar n tn Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is common and, for most people, causes no signs and symptoms and no complications. But in some people with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, the fat that accumulates can cause inflammation and scarring in the liver. This more serious form of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is sometimes called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. At its most severe, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease can progress to liver failure.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with a fatty liver and liver hemangioma. The doctor hasn;t said anything to me about what to do. Do I just leave it alone? Live with the pain? Is it a precurser to liver cancer? I am 47 years old and overweight. I try to eat a healthy diet. Anybody else have these same issues?
2131142 tn?1335648576 After the hysterectomy, CT and ultrasound showed 3 spots on liver and because they did not grow, doc said that it was endometriosis in the liver. Since then I have been diagnosed with NA Fatty Liver disease. I am now 57 and having abdominal swelling, stomach pain, nausea, upset stomach after eating (and can only eat very small meals and very bland). I am wondering do I need those 3 "spots" on my liver rechecked.
Avatar f tn It is useful in fatty degeneration of liver, hepatitis and non alcoholic fatty liver too. Silymarin is a flavonoid which helps reduce the effects of hepatoxins on the liver. It helps improve its resiliency. It contains many antioxidants which may be beneficial in many diseases. It also has anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic properties and stimulates protein biosynthesis and liver regeneration. These medications should be used only after consulting a doctor. Keep me posted.

Avatar n tn There have been a few cases of liver failure possibly related to the use of mesalamine (the active ingredient in Asacol HD), but I haven't read anything about fatty liver as a side effect. A fatty liver, it takes between 6 months and 2 years to fully reverse. Dr Sandra Cabot's article "Fatty Liver - What Is Fatty Liver And How To Reverse It?
Avatar m tn The point is a fatty liver can cause inflammation and result in an enlarged liver and elevated liver enzymes. Since viral and autoimmune hepatitis have been ruled out in your case I think your fatty liver might well be causing your elevated liver enzymes. It appears that insulin resistance may play a significant role in the development of fatty liver. I would want to follow up with a hepatologist to get a diagnosis and treatment plan.
Avatar m tn Fatty liver can be due to alcoholism when it is called Alcoholic fatty liver disease and the other one is Non alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is due to obesity, diabetes and high triglyceride levels. This can progress to cirrhosis of the liver and can be associated with hepatocellular carcinoma. So, prevention or cure is by avoiding alcohol and treating diabetes, obesity and high triglyceride levels. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been diagnosed with fatty liver since a couple of years now and only recently starting doing something really concrete about it. I am 33 years old and overweight (250 pounds for 5'11) and have been dealing with a binge eating problem for about 10 years now... I am seeing a psychiatrist since about a year now and it helped me a lot. I have been an avid jogger for many years and recently resumed working out seriously.
Avatar f tn Fatty liver may be diagnosed with physical examination and through diagnostic tests such as blood tests and imaging studies. The only way to confirm a diagnosis of fatty liver disease is with a liver biopsy. It is best that you discuss the results with your attending physician for proper evaluation.Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Steer clear of herbs and suppliments..this will worsen fatty liver. My cousin is a doctor and when I was diagnosed with fatty liver my hepatologist said to not use liver cleanses or herbs in any form or in any way. I hope this helps. Good health and luck to you in the future.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with a nonalcoholic fatty liver and had a biopsy and it is 50% fat. I could not take statins and my cholesterol, trig, etc. was sky high. I finally got a doctor who found a statin that I could take without all the side effects and my numbers are going down but it's only been two months that I have been on this.
Avatar f tn Liver problems including hepatitis are easily detected by an ultrasound scan and liver enzymes (which are raised). Hepatitis can result in fatty liver, but usually fatty liver is associated with fat rich diet, drinking alcohol, diabetes, obesity and dyslipidemias (high cholesterol and triglycerides). The good thing is that it responds to diet control and exercise. Also, yes, inflammatory bowel disease (which also causes lot of gas and stool problems) can also cause fatty liver.
Avatar m tn August 2017 i was diagnosed with fatty liver my sgpt is 225/69 and i was heavy drinker and overweight, I stopped Alcohol and change my diet by eating vegetables and staying away from pork/beaf and fast food. Avatar m tn Hi, I have fatty liver. My liver enzymes have been elevated. Since I am 55 and haven't had a colonoscopy yet ( they think that i have a death wish}. Doctor won't treat me if i don't get one. Why would it be necessary for me to have a colonoscopy if i have a fatty liver. Would just diet and excercise fix the problem? Doctor said that fat in the diet is not the problem but carbs is. But the procedures for getting ready for the colonoscopy is carbs.
1717054 tn?1316712653 is the biopsy safe and doesn't damage the liver? does fatty liver damage the liver over time?
Avatar f tn Clinical trials are also looking at the effectiveness of certain antioxidants and newer diabetes medications in treating fatty liver disease. This is because of the disease's link to oxidative stress and diabetes.
