Avatar n tn It is advised when taking this medication to monitor their blood and liver enzymes because of this effect. However, ironj deficiency anemia can go back after stopping the medication. Iron supplements may be prescribed to bring the levels of your red blood cells to normal. It is also recommended that you refrain from donating blood for at least a month after because the risk of the medicine to an unborn child if the blood transfusion was received by a pregnant woman. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn s been 2 weeks since the infection cleared off and i started randomly vomiting all of the food I eat at random days and at different times. Is it possible that I elevated my liver enzymes, and is it possible that they are causing this nasea and vomiting. I got the AST &ALT enzymes tested today, what are normal values to expect? Thank u so much in advance.
Avatar n tn I took Accutane in the fall of 2004 and I experienced severe hair loss. (I'm a girl). My hair came out in handfulls for about 6 months. The large amount of hair that usually falls out after washing or brushing hair was falling out every half an hour if i ran my fingers through my hair. I lost about 60% of my hair. It stopped for a few months and started again for a few months to a lesser degree though. And now, 3.5 years later, it stills falls out more frequently than it should.
Avatar n tn Many things can cause elevated liver enzymes. Attributing it to herpes would be pretty low on the list of possibilities. I assume your provider is looking into it more for you.
950394 tn?1261347338 A hallmark of hepatitis C is fluctuating liver enzymes. Unless they are wildly swinging up and down by 100's of points, it is nothing to worry about. And as Bill said, viral load does not correlate with disease severity and actually enzymes elevated to two or three times normal doesn't correlate well either.
Avatar m tn Maple, I was a science student in college so I knew drugs can have deleterious effect, but my mind was still not broadened as to evaluating how bad my visual side effects could be. My dermatologist told me that my liver enzymes could go up and I'd have extreme dryness Those are the two side effects I was explained. She said she'd keep track of my liver enzymes by blood tests, and as for dryness, I could try to keep myself hydrated and use creams for my dry lips etc.
Avatar n tn Accutane is known to cause problems in skeletal system of growing teens. I took it around the same age as your son and had severe pain. I called "Rosche" the company that makes Accutane and they said it can stunt growth in teens by closing the epiphyseal plates prematurely. I'm 21 now and my height of 5'7'' hasn't increased since my last cycle of Accutane. I also remember having severe joint and muscle pain after HS tennis practices. - 21 male.
Avatar f tn Hi. Accutane increases the risk of liver problems so avoid too much alcohol whilst taking this medicine. Eloise.
Avatar n tn They don't screen for Hep C unless they find elevated liver enzymes. The screening tests cost money and doctors just don't normally think to add it unless you are showing some other signs of illness. That's one of the reasons that so many people end up having it for a very long time before it's discovered. Once you have had the disease (and many people have it with no symptoms) about 20% of those infected fight it off and destroy it with their own immune systems.
Avatar m tn Anyway, I know the dangers of taking accutane w/o the supervision of a doctor. So what im trying to say is ive had liver func. done and plenty of other blood tests (white blood cell count, cbc, etc). IM NOT concerned that this atane (from india) did anything in terms of normal accutane side effects. I am mainly convinced now that I took poison. Not that i have had any side effects, but just because IM reading all these things online about not to do it.
Avatar f tn During my biopsy I noticed a young man in the room who had liver damage due to accutane. There are so many things that can raise those numbers, and remember the liver regenerates itself with care and time.
Avatar f tn But it must be emphasized that higher-than-normal levels of these liver enzymes should not be automatically equated with liver disease. They may mean liver problems or they may not. The interpretation of elevated AST and ALT levels depends upon the whole clinical picture and so it is best done by doctors experienced in evaluating liver disease. The precise levels of these enzymes do not correlate well with the extent of liver damage or the prognosis (outlook).

Avatar m tn Since I had elevated liver enzymes, my doctor stop giving me PTU and I had a total thyroidectomy.Liver enzymes went to normal immediately after stopping PTU. I am OK now All the best to you.
Avatar n tn I went for my regular physical with my regular doctor and my liver enzymes were up; ast 60 alt 40 alkaline phosphate 128, these wer high last year as well. My doctor says my liver enzymes were always kind of high, even before being diagnosed with sarcoid. Now my doc wants me on synthroid for this and my triglycerides went up to 240? Is the sarcoid still in my body, perhaps in my liver, causing the high enzymes, low thyroid, etc... Thank you.
1445110 tn?1388209711 I had some minor surgery about 3 weeeks ago and tool Lortab with acetominophen for pain - that can raise liver enzymes. But now I am referred to a gastroenterologist...and I will go because...I might as well see what he has to share about autoimmuine diseases....because I have hashis.
Avatar n tn The liver enzymes fluctuate. There is no diet plus herbal remedies that can prevent the liver enzymes from going up if you have HEP C. It's just not possible. So it may be unrelated to the exercise.
Avatar n tn Elevated Liver Enzymes can be the result of damaging liver disease, acute or prolonged use of medications or alcohol, or harmful exposure to a wide variety of environmental toxins (many of which you are probably exposed to every day). Livergenex is your safe, natural choice for lowering elevated liver enzymes and putting you on the path to a healthier more energetic life. Elevated liver enzymes indicate inflammation or damage to cells in your liver.
Avatar f tn So, my doctor just got the results of my blood tests, and apparently I have underactive thyroid, and three times the normal liver enzymes. I couldn't ask him a lot of questions and it will take a few days before I can go and see him, but I have a lot of questions that just won't stop bugging me. For instance, one of the symptoms that bothers me the most is that I keep having hot flashes a lot. But shouldn't it be the opposite with hypothyroidism?
Avatar n tn Now his doctor has him on topical accutane and another topical application. He is having severe flare ups and when he applies the accutane it burns. He's fed up with this. Any thoughts? i will call his doctor, of course, but am wondering if you have any ideas.
Avatar f tn Hi again, i just wanted to let you know that before I joined this Forum I had left a message on the FDA's question line. They had not gotten back to me so I thought I'd never hear back. Today, however, I did hear back from them. I asked them about whether the meds. and supplements that I've been taking, and especially Verapamil, Zantac and Prilosec OTC could possibly cause an elevation in liver enzymes.
