Avatar n tn All of us carry a lot of bacteria and germs under our finger nails. Having a nail break and get lodged under your gum tissue may have caused a local area of inflammation. If it's not going away on it's own you will definitely want to have a dentist check the area for you.

Avatar n tn The yellow-green color, indicates that a collection of pus has formed under the skin (called an abscess). If this is the case it may require an incision and drainage. Warm soaks in a mixture of 50% warm water and 50% liquid antibacterial soap 3-4 times daily for about 15 minutes. In extreme cases, infection can move under the fingernail and need partial or complete nail removal. In your case there there does seem to be some cellulitis, involved and probably requires antibiotics.
1415174 tn?1453246703 No matter which option you use, it is necessary to file down the nail bed, because the treatment has to get under the nail bed for it to kill the fungus. So, I did this and would soak the affected foot in undiluted warmed white vinegar for half and hour to 45 minutes twice a day. In less than one week, the fungus was gone--and it has been gone for good, too.
Avatar n tn does ur husband have throbbing pain?is his cheek warm to touch?if so he could have an abscess there and would need another round of antibiotics.
Avatar m tn i cant even sleep now! P.s i have a nail at my big toe (left side) that sticks in the skin ( i have it more than 6-7 years) and it's a little swollen and painfull in touch,is there any connection?

Avatar n tn Surgical removal of the abscess as a whole is required. The abscess capsule needs to be removed as well. Once the abscess has been removed, the inciting tooth needs to be extracted, even if it is still firmly attached. Ideally the wound should be left open and filled with antibiotics. Common treatments of the open wound include antibiotic beads, antibiotic swabs/sponges, gels, ointments and manuka honey.
Avatar f tn Hi! Just joined this group today and saw your post re: vet bills. I live in Southern California and just recently had to take my cat in for an "anal abscess" which needed to be lanced and drained (gross looking fluid/pus!). Here is the itemized list for this procedure: 1. Exam and consult $46.50 2. Sedation $55.00 3. Drain/clean abscess $45.00 4. Culture of fluid $113.50 5. Antibiotic injection $65.00 6.
901608 tn?1242152747 Anyway, he has an infected fingertip right now, it is red and swollen all around the nail down to the top knuckle. I was wondering if there is a risk of endocarditis from this type of infection. Thanks you!
Avatar f tn don't remember but I do have the paid bill in the dog folder and can look. Point is I recall the whole cost was way under $3,000, under $1,000.... I think closer to $500 - I can check. You dog may need more costly work, but what beside pulling does the vet plan to do? On the lighter side, you profile shows you as a "male" - not a big deal but you may want to correct. Hope you find an affordable solution... pet ownership is a big responsibility and expense.
612551 tn?1450025775 I do wonder if this type of health service is just another way a veterinary has to develop a profit from the business. Our Westie has many missing teeth. We had a tooth with an abscess removed shortly after adoption, just over a year ago, and had the teeth cleaned at that time, he was "under" anyway and the cleaning was a small incremental cost.
1006035 tn?1485579497 Here we go again! We always seem to have a heated argument on declawing on this forum at least every few months or more. I've talked to many vets on this subject as well. Cats can adapt very well to being declawed and I've always had my cats declawed from the time I was a kid and my mom did to when I was an adult and had my own cats.
Avatar n tn it has been there for 2-3 days, has grown in size, and it has become pretty painful. The bump is somewhat hard and appears to be under the skin, not a pimple like form with a whitehead. although when it was smaller and not painful i squeezed it and some white, puss like fluid came out. There was another bump on the other side in the same place but it was much smaller, not painful, and went away within a day.
Avatar n tn I have a lump on the bottom rib on the left side under my breast. I had it checked out at docs and it feels like bone matter and doesnt move at all it is firmly stuck. I only noticed it since i had my first child. It seems like it could be scar tissue from when i cracked the rib years ago when i had a really bad cough (believe it or not!!). Does this sound similar to yours and do you think i should get it re-checked again? Keep us posted.
945764 tn?1245699789 Hi, I just found this site today while googling Crohn's disease and looking up some information. I finally feel like everything has come together enough that the doctors are ready to listen to me. I feel like I've been passed around, time and time again... and now my symptoms have gotten worse enough that they're not ignoring it! I've always been extremely gassy -- had times where no matter what I ate, I'd have to head right to the restroom.
Avatar n tn CALIFORNIAN LAWSUIT re PAXIL can be found here: http://www.breggin.com/paxilcomplaint.html and here are some extracts from it: 22.The "patient years" standard is a sham by anyone's common sense. It works like this.Assume 366 patients are selected at random to test Paxil.Three hundred and sixty five (365) patients take Paxil and suffer horribly the first day--immediately quitting the test. These patients are called, not surprisingly, "losers.
Avatar n tn if you think it is from shaving, it very well could be. is the lump under the skin, or on top of ????? there is a difference. if you don't want to go to the doc, just wait it out for a few days, and see what happens. It may very well go down in size.
Avatar n tn I have had similar painful blisters in my chin, over an old abscess scar. It feels like a scraped knee, or road rash, They are water filled, won't bleed. And scab over. My fear, is that the water is a carrier, So I may have scratched something open and spread it to where it is. After searching, I think they could be a form of herpes or shingles . I have had the pox at 15 and was blessed with herpes:( at 30. I am now 50.
Avatar f tn i loved scraping the cuticle off and then getting that stuff out what ever it is.....under the corners of the big toe nail.......Oh, it smelled soooo bad, but I got some sick pleasure digging it out......
Avatar f tn A few weeks ago, he developed an abscess on his belly (there was a spot and he picked it). His GP (doctor) didn't do a swab so they didn't really treat him with the correct antibiotics. He is also a Type II diabetic, food controlled. The abscess was starting to heal up, but earlier this week he started feeling ill. Both myself and my son have had heavy colds recently and he thought he was coming down with the cold too.
86075 tn?1238118691 The #5 Gout Plate, the Alzheimers Special ( they bring you the bill and just tell you that you ate ), the Herpes Salad, the Toe Jam Chicken with Rice, Kung Pao Abscess and my favorite, Sweet and Sour Hang Nail with Dim Sum Diarrhea. I stayed away from the Yeast Noodles with Chow Mein Hair. How's that for useless information, slick ?
203342 tn?1328740807 Having not much experience with any pain meds other than for a bit here or there after shoulder surgery and recently for a dental abscess/root canal, I am confused as to what will be available for the public for pain control both short and long-term under the guidance of a physician.
431531 tn?1254101806 I thought it might possibly be a pimple under my skin that wasn't surfacing at first. (that's how it feels anyway) Has anyone ever experienced this?
Avatar n tn boils are often caused by infected hair folicals. Bacteria from infection form an abscess or pocket of pus. The abscess can become larger than a ping pong ball. Boils occur in areas where there is hair chafting. the face, neck, armpit, breast, groin, and buttocks are common sites.....then it goes on to treatment with cloth. doesn't mention any serious outcomes like surgery.
Avatar n tn most of time she suffered from hernia of navel. last year she had gone under surgery of intistine.after that she has suffered pointed pain in navel which is unbearable.can u help me to know exact reason of this type of suffering.
Avatar n tn In any case I did go to the doctors and she said it didn't look like herpes, but also quickly looked under the microscope and didn't see anything...which is suspicous to me because I would think there would be some sort of bacteria present causing the infection. In any case, I'm waiting for my culture results and am on antibiotics, and yesterday it popped with some blood and is pretty much gone now.
