Good morning forum.6 days ago I went to a urgent care for a bump i had in my pubic hair area, I'm a male. The doctor told me its skin abscess. He drained it and puss started coming out. He took a wound culture for testing using a swab.And prescribed me doxycycline antibiotic. 5 days have passed and I still haven't taken the antibiotics because I want to know about my wound swab culture.
I've had an abscess or boil on my upper back between my spine and shoulder blade that doesn't seem to be coming to a head but instead drying up or being reabsorbed into the skin. It's about 1 - 2 cm in diameter, pink and a little soft (can feel some fluid inside) but not painful and not getting larger or smaller and I'm having what seems like muscular shooting pain up my neck and down my spine on that same side.
If there is no pain, it is unlikely to be due to an abscess. It can be an abrasion or the skin getting roughened up due to probably unaccustomed cycling. This may remain same without any change for many days, and may not need any treatment except for may be an emollient cream
Yes, a deep peri-anal abscess may not be painful initially, but it can be caught on an ultrasound/CT scan. If in doubt, please consult another doctor.

I have been having problems with a cyst or abscess that was what I am going to call dormant for a long time. I had it checked by a dermatologist he said since it was in the muscle part of my back he would not recommend to have it cut out...Now its inflamed went to a clinic they said to just heat compress it then wet to my PCP who game me SULFA and some pain killers told me also to heat compress it...now it is no longer HOT it was a HOT spot but now it looks PURPLE.
After abscess drained, the cat irritated it a bit, a flap of skin came off revealing tissue, and bone on the right of the jaw/mouth. We went back to the vet, said she couldn't bandage it since it's literally on the mouth, and therefore couldn't eat. Also can't stitch since there's no skin to stitch together.
My main question is there any way I could bandage it, or dress it for a while abd then take it off when the cat wants to eat? I will post pictures.
It is already 12 days since the drainage but hardness is still there though we do not know if it has regressed in size but when touched we can feel the hard skin as a rectangle piece below the skin. Someone said the skin induration will go in 4 weeks and someone who said it is antibioma it will take 6-8 weeks for the hardening to go off completely and no treatment is required. Will the hardness below the skin where the abscess was drained go off completely on its own?

The chances of it being a muscle pull are very high. It could also be an abscess or infection in the skin or muscle layer. A clinician can examine and tell if it is either of these.
I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor (PCP) and get a referral for a sports clinic and consult a sports medicine specialist. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.

In Nov 2008, I had a swelling below my right breast which was diagnosed as "Abscess". It would ooze out puss with blood and was very painful. After healing,a scar developed around that spot and A FOUL SMELL THAT OF PUS actually emanates from that area(i.e when you touch the area surrounding the scar)
What could be happening inside?
Apply a hot compress to draw the abscess to the surface. If there is no broken skin on the abscess, you can purchase magnesium sulphate from the pharmacy and apply this to the abscess. This is a drawing ointment and can only be used on unbroken skin.
Whilst you are taking the antibiotics, it would be advisable not to smoke the cannabis.
Make an appointment to see the doctor to be timed when you complete the course of antibiotics.
Other possibilities are sebaceous cysts (accumulations of secretions that can occur Fanywhere on the skin or mucosal surfaces), lipomas (fatty deposits) ,fibromas (fibrous tissue deposits) or viral warts(small raised pimples to a mass of large, cauliflower-like growths. The virus that causes them is passed on during sex).
An examination by a gynecologist will be the best as it is only after an examination that it will become clear what the lump that you have noticed is due to.

a few days ago i noticed a place on my right butt cheek in the middle closer to my hip then the middle of my cheek that goes around to my groin area on my leg there are a few nodules......my doctor measured it it is 26 inches long just unfer the skin few nodules ...it doesnt hurt unless it is touched ...im not running a fever....my doctor has no clue she said she has never ran across anything like it ...is there anyone who might have any clue?

Hello doctor...thank you so much for your reply. I noticed the lump after my abscess resolved without I&D.....could fibrous tissue walling off the abscess produce a lump like this? Its rather small and I have to poke at it to feel it properly.....I guess Im a hypochondriac and assume the worst. Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

I have 3 bumps on my butt cheek that are constantly oozing blood. They don't hurt or itch or anything. They are just irritating because I have to wear dark pants all the time. They are about the size of a dime. Any idea what this might be?
