A boil, also referred to as a skin abscess, is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with pus. I suggest you to get it evaluated from your doctor and get this possibility as well as other possibilities like swollen lymph node, pinched nerve, muscular pain etc also ruled out.

This may be a new cyst adjacent to the original cyst. If the cystic lesion that popped contained sterile fluid than it should become absorbed by the body usually without incident. If however the cyst was infected or inflamed it can cause an infection and may eventually abscess. Some abscess can become serious and cause septicemia (blood infection). In either case it would be best to have your cat examined by a vet in case it is the infectious type.

my doctor measured it it is 26 inches long just unfer the skin few nodules ...it doesnt hurt unless it is touched ...im not running a fever....my doctor has no clue she said she has never ran across anything like it ...is there anyone who might have any clue?

Thank you for the reply. It really worries me because it's located under the skin and isn't visible from the top of the skin. If it was visible then I wouldn't be so worried.

This may be brought about by a break in the skin/areola, producing a superimposed infection and thus abscess formation. If there is an abscess, incision and drainage must be done and the specimen is sent to the pathologist for evaluation. Good luck.

Hi Veronica, my mass ventured under my areola in the beginning. It (the mass) started at the bottom of my breast and eventually grew and went under my areola. In the middle of the night my daughter swung her hand and hit my breast. It started to fill with puss over the next day or two. Because the puss was kind of all over, I was put under anesthesia to have a small surgery incision and drainage. He made an incision on the side/edge of my areola.

A few months ago I noticed a lump under the skin on the right side of my vulva. It is not painful, not swollen or red and seems to be moveable under the skin. It is located right next to my clitoris and is an ovular shape about the size of an almond. You cannot see it but can feel it. i have a lump under the skin of the vagina. it isnt on the lips its just under the skin. it is slightly swollen and very painful to touch. it doesnt hurt any other time.. just when something touches or puts pressure on it. I noticed it yesterday so its only been here for 2 days.. not sure if it is related to UTI or Kidney infection? i get kidney infections every couple months and never have any symptoms besides nausea and i never have any symptons for UTI's so i never know when to go in..

i squeezed what seemed like a big bump under the skin,but nothing came out except for a little bit of blood.It then hurt allot.The next day i woke up and that same spot i squeezed was really swollen.My whole right cheek was swollen and i couldn't move it that well.Any ideas what it might be? I did not go to a doctor as I had been travelling and now the abscess has turned into a painless lump of approx. 1.5 cm diameter. I feel the lump under my skin and I am not sure if the infection still remains or not. My question is that whether the infection is gone or is still remaining (dormant)?. Should I see a doctor before it may turn serious(sepsis, blood infection)?

I had to get surgery due to the frequency and severity of the abscesses in my right armpit. The doctors removed my sweat gland and all of the skin that had hair. I have not had any more abscesses in that area since but continue to have them in other areas. The infection can be from the draining skin or the organs. You could see if any of the draining areas have any evidence of infection, like the throat, tonsils, the skin, tooth abscess or an ear infection. If you develop any additional symptoms like sore throat or ear pain or fever, consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. Hi i have a hard lump under my skin on the back of my neck almost where my head and neck meet. Its hard and about the size of a marble. can some one help me. it hads been here a while but seems to have gotten a little bigger. i do not smoke.

lymph nodes are deeper under the skin and wouldnt be draining on the surface. it does sound like some sort of cyst or fluid containing sac. orange fluid doesnt sound great, i would get it checked out, it could be some kind of infection, without being red on the surface.

hi, 2 days ago i found a lump under my arm in my arm pit. its stayed the same size, it doesnt hurt but its a little tender if i press it hard, its the size of a malteaser .. and its quite hard? i dont feel ill, and its not a spot or an ingrown hair because its on the border of where i would usually shave my arms.. when i lift my arm up you can see the lump clear as daylight .. it doesnt look red it just looks like my normal colour skin have you got any idea what it could be?

I have a strange pink bump on my arm. First, I contracted pink eye from my nephew who attends daycare. A doctor prescribed antibiotic eye drops, and my eyes cleared in about two weeks.
