Abscess on dog's toe

Common Questions and Answers about Abscess on dog's toe

abscess

Avatar f tn ve picked up cycling about 40-50 miles per week along with strenuous training and noticed a solo abscess on my labia after a cycle session where I had tight fitting underwear. I popped the abscess and some white fluid came out, and it's still raised but steadily getting smaller with neosporin application. I have never had sex and the last time oral happened was late 2013.
Avatar f tn I am so sorry about your dog but I will try to help. One bit of optimism is that her creatinine decreased from 8 to 2 in a matter of weeks only on SC fluids and Aluminum Hydroxide. In my experience the creatinine only decreases slightly. Is it possible to have the abscess removed using a local anesthetic and sedation or even very safe general anesthesia?
880900 tn?1467270141 My black Standard Poodle has just gone through his second surgery to remove a toe due to SCC. He lost his first toe, on a back foot, in 2008, after we discovered a lesion next to his toenail which refused to heal. Another symptom is cracked, brittle, or twisted toenails. The lesions look crusty and sometimes ooze a colorless or bloody liquid. Infection around the toenail is a very common 'heads up' that the toe should be checked.
436837 tn?1293793226 thank you about the lump on my dog's toe..you guys made perfect sense..no it is not bothering him, he races around just fine...walking is no problem he still thinks every upright object deserves his "attention" so to speak...
Avatar n tn It sure sounds like it's just irritation from the adjoining nail, and you're on the right track by keeping it covered until it heals. I'm sure it's going to be tough to keep something on that toe though! Also, since it appears to be getting worse, it's good to keep your vet up on your progress (or lack thereof). Since you live in a snowy area, are your roads salted or otherwise chemically treated?
1160227 tn?1263598397 Our 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd mix has developed some sort of swollen thing on her bottom lip/chin area? Its swelling up, and I do not think she hit or cut herself?? Could anyone please let me know what this could be and what we should do for her? It feels like theres liquid in it maybe? Ir maybe just the muscle with a bump? Not sure...Thank you so much!
Avatar m tn then one time we found out that she have abscess in one of her nipples.. then as time passes by it grow bigger and bigger. She gave birth thrice but the litter didn't survive at least three weeks old. I tough that it is because the litter zipped in the abscess nipple so they got poisoned, something like that.. Then we decided to go to veterinarian for her medical check-up.. they found out that it was a mammary tumor. Immediate operation happened next..
Avatar f tn Ginger is correct. Even if a dog has been neutered they still get the swelling on the penis. Dogs, like people, masturbate because it feels good to them. Neutering them will not prevent them from doing this, it merely prevents them from being able to impregnate a female, so if they are in the mood, they can still bet an erection.
Avatar n tn The blood could come from something easily treated like an anal fissue/ abscess, or something as serious as cancer. Blood in the stool really needs to be evaluated by a vet because no matter what the cause, it isn't something you can cure by yourself. Is the blood noticeably bright red, and how much blood are you noticing?
Avatar f tn I found a tick on my dog's forehead about 2 weeks ago. I removed the tick, actually 2 ticks right next to each other, and put them in alcohol to kill them. There was some bleeding and I cleaned the area of where the ticks were. After the ticks died, I put them into a baggy in case she got sick, so I had them for reference. She has been herself, since then with no problems. Though the area of where the ticks were is still scarred, and the scar seems bigger. I don't get that??
Avatar n tn My dog has about a 1.5" round lump on her abdomen on one side. It is not firm, very soft. There are darker spots on it, and it has yellow crust on it. It's not a smooth lump, but a bit bumpy. I havent a clue what it is, and we can't call the vet until Monday. I have a photo. She is a 2 year old lab.
Avatar m tn when I felt around his tos he seems to try to stop me he puts his teeth around my hand. So I know he is not happy with his toes. I noticed his toe nails were black with white tips now, they used to be all black. He doesn't run much now, he used to love running. He gets tiried fast, rests alot, He is definetly down, sluggish, slow. I was thinking that when I cut his toe nails I did them to short????? None of his nails bled, I am just thinkin that could be it.
Avatar n tn It does sound like it could possibly be a tooth infection/abscess. If it gets really painful your dog will probably stop eating. But often dogs with tooth problems keep on eating anyway, unless it's really bad. I'd eliminate that possibility first. Is it easy for you to examine your dog's mouth? Sounds like it would be on the bottom jaw. You might see something. Or get the vet to check him out. If it is this, antibiotics will likely sort it.
Avatar f tn Were you treating the abscess on your own or under the care of a veterinarian? My vote is that the abscess was far worse than what was visible on the surface, and likely needed surgical drainage. Antibiotics can do only so much, and if they weren't specific for the particular bacteria strain at work, they would do no good at all. I'm guessing that the infection got into her blood stream (sepsis) and she finally died of multiple organ failure.
Avatar n tn Four days ago I noticed a bump on my second toe, it flet like I had a thistle in it (on the top of the toe) but when I finally looked at it that evening, there was nothing in the bump. The next day my first 3 toes were coved with such bumps that burned and itched. They became red and swollen and it was very painful to try to walk on them. That night I nearly lost it when the kids would accidentally step on the them.
Avatar n tn to lubricate stool and make it easier to pass. There are 2 methods that I'm aware of, and you have to be careful or you'll end up with a face full of really nasty smelly stuff. :-) One method is to grab a handful of kleenex, hold up the dog's tail, and place your kleenex-covered fingers and 10:00 and 2:00 relative to the rectum. You have to push in and fill the pillow-like glands and then squeeze behind them as you pull outward.
Avatar n tn My 2.5 year old Bichon has been excessively licking on his paws, usually a back foot non stop. We can't see anything wrong with his foot. Any ideas on why he would do this? Also, he pees in the house sometimes. I notice that on the weekends that we have the kids, he seems to do this more than on the weekends that it's just my husband and I.
Avatar f tn I have had a rash of some kind on my one big toe for a number of years (over 2). It has not spread and has not increased in size over the past year. It can be itchy and peel at times. Once it has been scratched it can bleed slightly. Please see images below. Have tried no treatment at this point but would like to have some identification and potential treatment options. http://i.imgur.com/33omVKF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UmFn2KD.jpg http://i.imgur.com/eItsGfc.
Avatar f tn the MRI was done and the results should come back TODAY!!!. The toothpick entered the bottom of the foot but the abscess and pain is on the top, as the puncture wound was that deep. I can hardly wait for the MRI results, and the poor guy is missing basketball on account of all of this.
Avatar f tn I had the same trouble with one of my dogs. Every summer she got yeast infections in her feet. She'd cool off in the pool, and since she had big hairy toe pads, they harbored moisture and made a perfect environment for fungus. The stench was horrible! My vet recommended Dermachlor Flush Plus, and it was a godsend. It comes in a bottle and I'd squirt it on her toe pads and in between her toes twice a day for 3 days. Fungus gone.
Avatar f tn One thing to watch for is the hairy toe tufts between your dog's toes. When they're out in the snow and ice, little ice balls form around those hairs. Those ice crystals are very sharp and can cut into the toes and toe pads. We had a thread on this topic about a year ago and someone recommended a product that helps protect doggy feet and toes, but I can't remember the name of it! "Musher's Secret" maybe?
Avatar n tn I have a 4 month old male yellow lab. He was just to the vet last Thursday and everything checked out fine. This weekend, my fiance informed me of a lump he had seen near his penis. I looked, its about 2cm long by about 1cm wide. It literally looks like the bump is going to pop. I do not see any kind of head on it to say its a pimple or ingrown hair. I know my vet most likely won't be able to get him in this week.
Avatar n tn I was bitten during my campng holiday my little my toe was itchy and produced a blister that was infected my toe hurt to touch and i couldnt wear shoes, and was hard to walk, it also was swollen and red around the area and above, 10days later it is still red the blister has gone down but still ozzes, i am left with a dark red area still sore to touch, just wondered what it could have been, i was in dorset .
Avatar f tn I just found a dime sized bump on my dog's lower belly. I touched it to see if it was soft or hard and it was definitely soft and mushy. And when I touched it, he kind of flinched. I know it hasn't been there for long because I often check my 2 dogs in the summer for tics and bites. I cannot find any answers online. Any idea what this could be?
Avatar f tn My Six year old dog Harley has a sore/leasion between his middle toe on his right foot. No other toes have this between them just this one. He is always licking at it! What could this be caused from? He is a indoor dog and only goes out to potty and exercise. We live in Washington State so I don't thinks it's poision Ivy or anything. It seems like there is'nt enough air to get to it to heal? Any kind of Advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!!!
