Avatar n tn We just adopted a 13 week old puppy through a rescue group, he was already neutered at a very young age of 10 weeks, and we are concerned that he may have complications from his neutering. A week ago we noticed a small purple bump on the incision site that didn't seem to really bother him, but now a week later it has trippled in size and is dark purple. It was bleeding and pussing the other night, so I cleaned it with warm water and a paper towel.
Avatar f tn Patients with concurrent immunosupressive co-morbidities (diabetes, cancer, chronic steroid therapy) are at higher risk for these types of complications. With your husband having abscess formation, bacteremia, and now what sounds like a sternal wound infection, I would have an infectious disease specialist involved who might recommend a long-course of antibiotics. Your previous surgeon should also be involved given there could be potential surgical needs.
Avatar f tn Husband went to ER a month ago for abdominal pain, ct was done and they diagnosed him with epiploic appendagitis, so far has gotten worse in pain, and seems to be hurting not just in the one area anymore. Went to a Gastro dr today and he wants to do a colonoscopy next week. I know that my husband needs one, but why wouldn't he look at the appendage in case of complications such as an abscess or something to do with what has already been diagnosed. Can you please advise what we should do?
1399266 tn?1280637104 My 8 year old cat, Kupid was diagnosed with a dental abscess about a week ago and put on clindamycin 1 ml twice a day. When she started she had a pink drainage coming from her right eye and right nostril. Her eye has gotten better and her nose has slightly improved. She is still sneezing and looks terrible but she is eating on her own. This cat has failed the pre anesthesia test twice after having complications during her spay surgery so we are reluctant to put her under to pull her tooth.
Avatar f tn Good morning forum.6 days ago I went to a urgent care for a bump i had in my pubic hair area, I'm a male. The doctor told me its skin abscess. He drained it and puss started coming out. He took a wound culture for testing using a swab. And prescribed me doxycycline antibiotic. 5 days have passed and I still haven't taken the antibiotics because I want to know about my wound swab culture.
Avatar m tn The fact that the abscess has hardened and draining it was not possible,I presume your Surgeon wants to run more tests probably to evaluate the extent of this abscess or because he thinks that it could be something other than an abscess, such as scar tissue,a fibroadenoma, fat necrosis or other growth. I think your Surgeon is doing the right thing to further investigate this lump, before considering surgery.
Avatar f tn Hello, A dental examination is necessary for correct diagnosis and management of your condition. A tooth abscess is usually a complication of tooth decay. Prompt treatment can save the tooth and a root canal may be recommended in an attempt to save the tooth. Untreated abscesses may get worse and can lead to life-threatening complications.
1310824 tn?1332377629 Why do they want you to wait, did they say. I would just be worried about the abscess, is it all cleared up I guess? My doc didn't give me any limitations after my D&C but I didn't have any problems after it. The going theory is that if your body is ready it will take care of itself. I think I would check with your doctor to see exactly why they said 6 mo. and go from there.
Avatar f tn I suffer from perianal abscess for the last two years. (Six), Now they want to do this surgery. Can anyone give me their experiences with having one done. I don't or at least have never been tested for Crohn's.

1670196 tn?1306841245 I had an abdominal Hysterectomy on 4/26. I was in the hospital 3 days. I was discharged with a fever but told to keep an eye on it. On 5/5 the pain was so bad and the fever had went up to 101.6 the night before. I was sent for blood work and an ultra sound. After the ultra sound, they called the ob/gyn who sent me back to the hospital and had me admitted.

Avatar m tn It turned out to be an anal abscess which had formed at the site of the cut (my surgeon had never seen this before - don't you just love that!) He gave me antibiotics which made me worse and did not heal up the infection. Finally I had to get the abscess drained - another day surgery and the week after the surgey I was in a lot of pain again. Gradually the next three weeks, the pain subsided and I felt great.

Avatar n tn Get that tooth pulled for heavens sake! There is so much risk of blood infection and other complications that it isn't even worth leaving in, especially if your dog has already developed a facial abscess. Good luck!
Avatar n tn because only you know whether you think this needs a trip to the vet or not, and even possibly, a course of antibiotics, as it is just possible that an abscess, treated wrongly, can lead to complications or even septicemia. To really be on the safe side, a quick trip to the vet (this will probably not cost very much at all) -may be the best plan. Don't be upset if what's left after the pus is all out is an angry-looking dark red hole.
Avatar f tn Surgery is almost always necessary to cure an anal fistula but some complications can occur including infection, anal fissure, recurring abscess or scarring. If the surgery was not successful, it is best that you discuss this with your doctor or have a referral or seek another specialist's opinion for proper management. Further evaluation may need to be done. Take care and do keep us posted.
