Avatar m tn He was advised Betadine sitz bath after each poo. No other medication was prescribed. Now after 4 weeks, the wound where incision was made is not healed yet.It keeps getting inflamed and pus runs out, time to time. One day it is quiet and the next day it is inflamed. I am worried as to how long it will take to heal. Will he recover fully? or would he need another surgery- fistulotomy- I am totally new to this and am lost. What should be done? Can you please help. Thanks.
Avatar n tn For 2 weeks I have been dealing with a very painful abscess on my ear, where after alot of research and several trips to a local medical clinic and ER, I have found that what I have is an abscess in the Preauricular pit/sinus. I have been given 3 rounds of antibiotics, one of which I am still taking (Clindamyacin). I have yet to see any improvement from taking the antibiotics, so I went to the ER yesterday where they attempted to do and Incision and Drainage procedure.
Avatar f tn Hi All, I have got a 4-5mm intersphincteric abscess which clearly shows up on an MRI scan. When i went in for surgery to cut it out, my surgeon said he couldn't find the abscess and that there isn't anything he can do to help me as he cannot feel it or find an internal opening from where the abscess is draining inside the anal canal, despite the fact he knows its exact location on the MRI scan! I was devastated when he told me this as this abscess is ruining my life.
Avatar n tn Six weeks after My original operation, I was hospitalised after I developed severe pain on the right side of my groin. The pain quickly spread to my scrotum and testes. Fearing that I had testicular torsion the urology team performed a procedure where they attached the testicles to my scrotum. They also repaired the hydrocele. They found no evidence of torsion. This was the first of my flare ups.
Avatar m tn not however my upper lip and face has begun to swell up and become quite sensitive to touch. after doing some research online I think that I have abscess in my front tooth, but I'm starting to get worried at the fact that my tooth is no longer in pain. Could that mean my tooth is already dead? Also the swelling is getting a little worse every day, I'm not sure how serious all of this is.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was facing recurrentaxilla abscess around 3 years ago. I was treated by Surgeon and was operared to remove the abscess. However after 2 years I faced the same problem, consulted the same surgeon and I had a I&D (incise and drain) operation on the axilla. Now after 4 months of the operation I am facing a similar problem though not as severe as I had 4 months ago.
Avatar m tn All my research seems to be inconclusive as to the cause or the cure, and some complaints ranged from 1 day after surgery to 2 months after surgery. I surely hope the latter does not apply to me here.
Avatar n tn Don't know how and why, but puss started coming outta my ear when I was some 10 years old. I had an operation for bezold's abscess when I was 12 years old, but still the puss did not stop. I am still having this problem, this is very horrible, the puss may come out anytime, I have to use cotton in my ear all the time. The doctor said the puss stops automatically after few days, but now I am 24 years old and the puss still hasn't stopped. What to do now?

Avatar f tn I had my left fallopian tube and ovary surgically removed 17 days ago as I had a very severe infection due to a large abscess on the fallopain tube and ovary. I am 40 and gave birth to my 5th child 11 weeks ago. I had been exclusively breastfeeding my baby until she was 8 weeks old and I was taken into hospital and have since had to stop.
Avatar f tn Potential complications following open heart surgery include wound infections of the sternum including dehiscence, abscess formations, and ostemyelitis (infection of the surrounding bone). Patients with concurrent immunosupressive co-morbidities (diabetes, cancer, chronic steroid therapy) are at higher risk for these types of complications.
Avatar f tn She has had many chest x-rays, and at first they thought it might be slight pneumonia, as they saw a small spot on her x-ray that wasn't there before the operation, but since then I believe another x-ray showed clear. She seems to be getting back to her old self, except for this fever that won't go away. She has a slight cough, but nothing really significant. She is 64 with previous health concerns being heiatal hernia, thyroid nodules and osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn I had an ER abscess operation over a week ago. I was RX'd 30 Percoset 10/325, and it helped for the first few days. I was feeling better, but still taking them for the small amount of pain I was having near the drainage site. I decided to cut them in half and wean off slowly, because I was afraid of that even within a week I would have withdrawal symptoms. I had my last one last night, and decided to flush the 1 and several halves I had left. I feel awful!
Avatar m tn The fact that he had a fistula following his original surgery says that either there was a leak and subsequent abscess following the initial operation or a recurrent bout of diverticulitis (i am assuming that he had a sigmoid resection for diverticular disease). This may represent longstanding bacterial overgrowth due to the antibiotics given after the fistula or a mechanical problem such as a stricture. Has he been evaluated for this? This would not be expected and should have a solution.
Avatar f tn Its been 4 months and I am still not well-at all. I have dizzeness, severe headaches and pain, and always feel like im under water or in a fog. Oh ya I stammer a lot and have memory loss and am so very tired and just wiped out. Sometimes I dont see things right. When will this all end? Can someone tell me what kind of meds works best for the pain in the head. I tried Vicodin but got tired of being nausea, Then I was on Butalbital and that was worse-didnt help the pain.
Avatar n tn Feeling so angry because if I had of known I would still bleed after the operation, then I would not have had it done. Am now 7 weeks post op and I just feel it has all been for nothing. I am still having to buy sanitary towels and it is just so frustrating... will keep you posted on how I get on with the doctor..
Avatar n tn The vet was surprised but gave us antibiotics, pain meds and anti inflams for her. After the meds, she still had the swelling and it was draining again from her mouth (at times if it got really big it would drain clear fluid but it was majority of the time it was blood). The vet gave her a dose of strong antibiotics for 1 week to see if it helped as he thought that the abscess caused a pocket of inection, it didn't so we brought her back in to open her cheek and remove any infection.
Avatar f tn This discussion is related to Problems after bowel resection. In February 2006 I had an emergency bowel resection. For no apparent reason, a large portion of my small intestine had twisted and the blood supply to my intestine had been cut off and died. About 40% of my small intestine (ileum and ileocecal valve) had to be removed. For the next 2-3 months I had horrible diarrhea after everything I ate. Within one week I went from 135 lbs. to 115 lbs.
Avatar n tn The syndrome can develop as a complication of surgery on your sternum, months to years after the operation. However, the cause is usually unknown. It could be the breast bone has not completely heeled and has been aggravated from time to time and now causing the pain. Seems unlikely after so many years, but it is possible. Tietze syndrome usually affects the bone-cartilage junctions of the second and third ribs. The swelling may last for several months.
Avatar n tn This pain has been a few weeks after the operation. Before the operation, she is complaining back pain after meal. After go for sound scan, doctor said there is 10mm gallstone. The only solution is removing the whole gall bladder by laparoscopic method. However, after operation, the back pain still happened anytime, whether you are sitting, sleeping or standing in any position.(More than 4 weeks) After going to see a few doctor, all of them just recommend go for CT scan. But result is nothing.
Avatar m tn Like my last spine surgery, results were immediate and at 2 day mark symptoms came back due to post op swelling. After another 3 days my back felt good enough to stop all pain meds. This time however some nerve pain has returned. I don't remember this happening last time. Is it normal to have symptoms come and go within 2 weeks of surgery. I do still have golfball sized knot around incision area so I assume there is still swelling inside. Thanks for your input.
Avatar n tn Indeed in the months after the operation my motions were frequent and liquid. My remedy was first of all to reduce anal soreness by making the last "toilet paper wipe" with toilet paper moistened with soapy water and, when away from home, using very mild baby wipes. I found that the motions were quite corrosive immediately after the operation (perhaps they contained more bile juise??) although this lessened after a few months.
Avatar n tn have you met your surgeon after the operation regarding these symptoms? Was any post operative ultrasound done/or any other investigation. Is there any evidence of jaundice (yellowness of eye or urine)? Persistence of symptoms can be due to many causes.
