Avatar m tn Feeling very unwell, sometimes unable to get out of bed, pain on left side of face and head. Had x rays, cat scan, MRI, blood work. All normal except for slight thickness on left side. Nobody can find infection, and yet I respond to antibiotics to the point I am able to function, ei. Get out of bed, shower, go for a walk. I am currently taking ibuprophen for pain. Outside of this, I was a very healthy, active person.
Avatar n tn I have a severe abscess tooth on the lower left side of my mouth. I have been to the ER and the dentist. I'm on antibiotics (clindamycin) 600mg ibuprofen and hydrocodone for pain. My dentist scheduled me an appointment to have the tooth pulled next Friday but since taking the antibiotics the whole left side of my face is extremely swollen my lips are severely swollen to the point I can't eat can barely drink and can't sleep.
Avatar f tn One of the teeth (19) had deep decay. No pain prior to procedure and no sensitivity to hot/cold. After the crown prep, had periodic pain in both so asked dentist to place crowns with temp cement in case root canal became necessary. Experienced severe galvanic shock. Removed temps and had root canals on both teeth. Continued to have severe pressure sensitivity on 19 and some on 18. Dentist insisted on placing perm crowns - different crown materials (about six weeks ago.

405614 tn?1329147714 I am sorry you are need of so much dental work. I also have had lots of dental work done, and so far, knock on wood, it didnt set off any TN for me. That being said, I also had troubles with Root canals giving me lots of pain post-op. I think I didnt go to the right person for one of them. If it were me, I would wait until I got back from my FUN trip and enjoy without any additional mouth troubles. Not that anything would happen, but ya never know.
Avatar f tn 6) and the doctors ruled out strep and mono once again and put him on the same medication regimen. Could his symptoms possibly stem from a tooth abscess?? If not a tooth abscess what else do you think could be causing his symptoms? Thank you in advance for your response.
Avatar f tn First off, take a deep breath, everything will be fine. Continue taking your amoxicillin until its gone, stopping early just creates more problems. The grey color does indicate the nerve of the tooth is dead. Depending on the size and severity of the abcess, they may or may not need to drain it. Incision and drainage is only used for really severe infections, otherwise antibiotics are enough to remove the swelling.
1726450 tn?1316286111 They also prescribe Cipro before dental work for us that are decompensated and are prone to infections which can be very serious for us. And cause us to be hospitalized and put on IV antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Part B Saltwater Rinsing ones mouth with salt in warm water is often recommended by dentists after dental work as salt promotes healing. Seawater can also be used as a mouth wash, but you really have to be living near a national park to find it clean enough. Calcium is the primary mineral in all of our physical processes and it relieves pain. Rubbing an aspirin sized amount on your gums is the fastest path to the nerves of the teeth.
Avatar f tn If the tooth is dry inside, the filling can be replaced after the pressure is relieved. A Periapical abscess is an actual buildup of fluid in the bone at the tip of the root. This fluid may be sterile (germ free) or it may be the result of an infection due to germs that were introduced beyond the tip of the root during the endodontic procedure. This is a common problem during endodontic therapy.
Avatar f tn Hello, Any dental procedure or extraction can be undertaken during pregnancy but if possible, try to have dental work during your second trimester. During the first trimester, your baby is forming vital organs and during the third trimester if could be very uncomfortable for you to lie on your back for an extended period of time. Few antibiotics are safe during pregnancy and contact a dentist for more queries and assistance. Hope it helped. Best luck and regards!

Avatar m tn Hi there, A dental implant infection can occur any time after the implant either immediately after surgery, few days to few months after the surgery. Poor sterilization, dental implant contamination, poor oral hygiene, poor material quality, improper implant placement etc are few of the predisposing factors for post implant infection. It is very important to find and treat the cause of the dental implant infection. Treatment of the cause is very important to treat it and prevent recurrences.

279234 tn?1363108849 My excuse in the past was that we didn't have dental insurance and could not afford it,but now we do. I noticed a few weeks back that one of my molars (the last one in the lower back/ right side) is a little loose. I had to put it off because of family reasons, and my surgery. This past week, I notice that I started to get pain. I'm on percasets from the surgery, and this wasn't even taken the tooth pain away.
Avatar f tn I do all dental work without epi and my dentist knows I will let her know if something starts to wear off. She's great at asking me as she goes along if I am doing ok. Have you been to this dentist before? I am sure even if you go with the epi, you'll be fine too. Lots of people are! Good luck!
Avatar m tn I think his studies are more about how diet effects dental health/bone structure as opposed to dental healths effect on overall health. I might do the oil swishing thing, cant say I'm sold on the whole "pulling" aspect on it. I really hope resolving these dental problems provides some relief, nothing else is working!

Avatar n tn I developed ringing in my ears, tinnitus, about 3 weeks after my surgery. Now, 6 weeks after having the titanium dental implant put in the ringing is non-stop. I think I need to have the implant out. I don't want more problems later. I don't want to live with tinnitus if I don't have to. Nightmare.
Avatar f tn About 4 hours later, her face had become about 3 times bigger than it was this morning. She obviously has an abscess tooth and since she has other health issues i am quite concerned that this infection could make her very ill or worse.
Avatar f tn I woke up with a big abscess. Hurts like the devil. I knew the time would come when the need to take pain pills would come. Darn it! Going to try to ride it out over the weekend with just over the counter stuff. I know my teeth. ROOT Canal. DARN IT!!!!!
Avatar f tn This pregnancy I have a prewritten script for dental work and even though it says they can fix any cavities if I have any and use the numbing med, I still can't have an x-ray, so even if I did have a cavity, they couldn't do anything without the x-ray to confirm, so I still wouldn't need the med til after the pregnancy.
Avatar n tn A couple of weeks ago the gum around the tooth became sore and this week a small (about 2-3mm in diameter) abscess formed. This abscess then burst but another formed (and then also burst). Today I went to my dentist who told me there was an infection between two roots of the tooth and cleaned out the gum and treated it with medication. She also told me that if this treatment did not work then the tooth would have to be extracted.
Avatar n tn Have all of the necessary dental work complete & if you still have migrains and/or facial pain I would get a referral to a Neurologist. However I believe after all of your dental procedures are done most of your facial pain should be gone.
Avatar m tn to work after a total of 5 days go back. It will take a few days to drain the abscess at least. The pain will gradually get better as well. This does not happen quickly.
