Zantac and stomach pain

Common Questions and Answers about Zantac and stomach pain

zantac

I've just started taking zantac, and I don't know if I'll have any side effects, or if my regular symptoms (stomach pain, upset stomach) will become apparent or come back. My question is this; if I get nauseous, stomach pain, upset stomach etc. as a side effect or other, can I take tums to calm my stomach down? Or will it just make things worse? I can't talk to my doctor because (a) don't have an appointment and (b) am too young to drive there or get an appointment myself.
Then I took more zantac, woke up crampy and nauseous, ate some cereal, now I am lightheaded and my stomach hurts and I need to eat something else but I'm afraid to. Could the zantac be messing with my digestion and making me feel worse?
I stopped the zantac after about 12 days and on that day my neck started to ache like crazy. The day after I was in pain and had a bad sore throat, still dry coughing. Is this a side effect of the zantac? Or is this a sign my throat is healing from never having taken this kind of medicine before?
My daughter is 4 weeks old and she has been having gas problems from the begining. But for the last two days it seems like gas has gotten worse. I can hear the bubles in her stomach and she has been fussier. She also spits up a lot. I took her to doctor and they gave her zantac. From what I was describing, doctor said it sounds like Acid Reflux. I have not given her the zantac yet. Do you think having Acid Reflux can cause so much gas? Has anyone used zantac for their newborns?
At first my dr diagnosed me with reflux and prescribed me zantac which for me doesn't help. I do sometimes get belching and reflux type symptoms. I do also get a tender spot under my right rib, right shoulder pain, nausea, occasional vomiting. General upper abdominal discomfort is a big symptom. I don't tend to get the typical gall bladder attacks but rather an almost constant, daily irritation, dull but disruptive pain.
Dear Sir, I am suffering from stomach pain and acidity, after taking breakfast my heart starting to burn and also i have problem for stomach paining. Please give me some advice what i have to do ????????
I ask because my mother had more than half of her stomach taken due to ulcers, and now that she is older, she is always in constant pain. She was told that nothing can be done for her. and they gave her perscription zantac.
Lay down on the floor next time you have it - place one hand on your stomach and one at your chest and breathe in such a way that both hands rise. It will most likely help on the sting. Then you can loosen the sting with deep breaths and range of motion. I hope this is helpful!
My son often complains of stomach pain and more frequently I notice him "burping". His doctor said they suspected gastritis and said he should take zantac. He hates taking medicine and I'm concerned about giving it to him but I am also very concerned about his stomach. My grandmother died of stomach cancer last year and I was diagnosed with gastritis and esophagitis this year. I should take pepcid (according to my doctor) but even when I did take it I didn't notice much relief.
but for the past few weeks i have been getting a VERY painful feeling in my stomache, feels as though I was punched in the stomach. Usually the pain goes away if I have a small snack, but it allways comes back within 10 to 15 min. lately it has been getting worse and has gotten to the point where i would wake up in the middle of the night because of the pain. I have no idea as to why this is happening, but i was hoping to get sum advice on here before making a trip to the doctors.
I spend a week in Spain and since I got back to the USA, (10 days now )I have pain on my upper stomach, nauseas and headaches. I have also been very tired, dizzy and weak. This only happens sometimes (about 75 %) especially after I eat. I have stop eating because when I do, I get very sick. I went to the emergency room and they didn't find anything wrong but the doctor prescribed me Zantax. I still feel sick. I have scheduled an appoinment with a specialist but it is a week from now.

The other day i was feeling really good, and then my stomach really started to hurt, and the pain even went into my lower back. I was driving when this happened, so i pulled into a parking lot, and got out and sat on the ground for 5 minutes and then the pain was gone. I guess im going to have to go to the doc. but i feel stupid going when im feeling good. It usally only happen, when i have meals at home. During the week i don't eat as much and then not really a problem.
In this condition there is pain in the stomach, nausea, cramps and often vomiting. Chemical changes precipitated by stress and anxiety can cause abdominal migraines. A specific history and family history help in diagnosis. Self managing stress and healthy eating habit may prevent attacks. This is only a possibility. For exact diagnosis a complete evaluation is necessary. Do write to me again. Best luck and kind regards!
I started having stomach pain so bad and diarrhea about 10 years ago about the same time I found out I was pregnant with my last child. I have had test after test run ,endoscopies and upper and lower GI, I went to gastrointerologist, and family prac. doctors ,i have had gallbladder removed, total hysterectomy, apendix removed,i was told these was maybe my problem but still no change after surgery. They just cant seem to tell me what is wrong.

He has also restricted his diet to soft bland foods, and light drinks (no caffeine or alcohol) for at least the last 6 weeks. He still has pain in the stomach, esophagus, and throat - with or without eating. It will also wake him at nights. It's got to the point that he's afraid to eat because of the additional pain it could bring on. Has anyone else been through this before? Is recovery from this usually take a long time? Is this kind of pain to be expected?
I have had chronic upper right side pain in my stomach, sometimes after I eat and when I wake up in the morning, nausea, I feel like I could vomit, I on and off soft bowel movements but it's not bad. I have CAT scan, Ultra sounds, my gall bladder is fine and functioning find I have no kidney stones and I have an ovarian cycst on my left side.
Ended up with a dx of IBS but still lots of pain and discomfort. Use all kinds of stomach spasam pills and have prolonged difficulty with constipation. Is there a treatment for non-specific stomach pain?
Prilosec didnt help much, and now im taking zantac 150 twice a day and it helps somewhat. I have the urge to eat a lot and belch a lot which seems to ease the feeling. when i wake up in the morning i am sometimes bloated with a large amount of gas. I sometimes have green stool but not very often and sometimes light brown. It is not an extreme pain, but its something thats always there and very annoying.
For years and years I have been having severe upper abdominal pain (and i mean the most pain ive ever felt in my life). I got checked out at my hospital (they did an ultrasound). My syptoms were burning swelling and extreme pain in my upper abdominal area where I could feel the acid going round. I could even sometimes feel pain in my chest. This pain would intensify over 3 days.
I would also have alternating spasms at the top of my left shoulder, which seemed to follow with the stomach pains. I thought it was reflux at first, so I tried maylox, tums, zantac, and pepcid ac. Nothing helped so I reluctantly went into the ER. I am 15 weeks pregnant, so I was also worried about the baby, yet I didn't think it could be the baby because the pain was much higher then where the baby is, but I went in just to make sure and because I couldn't take the pain anymore.
When your having an attack food seems to amplify the pain. You may be experiencing a burning sensation in your stomach when it's empty, especially in the morning. My suggestions would be start taking over the counter zantac 150mg and follow the directions. This is the medication the Doctor at the emergency room gave me. Except the dosage was a prescription of 200mg twice daily for one year. I take a digestive enzyme with every meal now. I also have to eat small meals every 4 to 6 hours.
A few days late but I ran across this article and felt it should be in this thread. *Note: Omeprazole is the generic name for Prilosec Omeprazole Inhibits Calcium Absorption NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 22, 2005 - The proton pump inhibitor omeprazole reduces calcium absorption from the gut, investigators have found. I also took a zantac bc I thought it was my acid reflux at 1st it helps but I don't think its that......
My son is thirteen. He has been complaining of stomach pain in his stomach for years now. We have been to the emergency rooms over and over and get turned back home often. He has been prescribed prilosec and zantac but yet nothing has been diagnosed. It has been suspected he may have a ulcer or an upper G.I infection but no tests have been done.
