Milk works great for me. I have also noticed that if my stomach is empty I get heartburn too so try not to wait too long between meals/snacks.

Zantac is also perfectly fine and works better for me, I take 150mg every 12h as I need it, seems to work best if you take it on an empty stomach with a good size glass of water about 45min-1h before eating

My doc just put me on Zantac 150mg 2x a day & carafate 4x a day. I have GERD, gastritis with mild erosion. There is bile in my stomach since I no longer have my gall bladder. My throat burns like crazy I am concerned about further damage to my esophagus and stomach. I took the zantac for the 1st time last night. It took a while for it to start to help. However I woke up in the middle of the night burning again. I took another pill even though I was not due for several hours.

Thanks for the response. Doctor thinks it is hypersensitivity. Have you heard of this causing reflux? I will for the ph test. What is a Bravo 48 test?

It started with heart palpitations and vomiting, then i had abdominal or gas pain. stomach feels uncomfortable after eating.i went to a physician and he prescribed me zantac. i also had my blood checked for a deficiency in anything. results were norma except that i had a UTI infection. now i'm on zantac and an antibiotic. unfortunately i'm struggling with extreme fatigue upon standing, rapid heart rate some coughing and sometimes dizziness. This has been going on for three weeks.

Milk curdle in you and can make it worse and even make you vomit. Dr said Zantac or pepcid is safe and take tums in between. If you take zantac once in morning and once at night it works wonders!! I swear by it. I had heartburn 5 out of 7 days in first and second trimesters. Now I have it every once in a while. Also don't lie down right after eating and eat smaller meals. Good kuck!

vitamin b and Unisom...also eat small meals every couple of hours.

You can take otc zantac, tums, maalox, mylanta and pepcid. If it's really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.

You can also try to avoid feeding her so close to bedtime so that her stomach has time to empty before she lies down (which I know will probably mean she gets up earlier--sorry). Lastly you can make sure she has solids as her last meal instead of milk or formula, or at least thicken her final liquid meal with some rice cereal.

t take Zantac or Nexium before my pain meds, my stomach is killing me. I had severe stomach distress at one time and it became very inflamed due to the meds. I have to be very careful to take the Zantac first so it does not hurt the stomach lining or cause severe acid reflux.

I know what they say to to do to avoid heartburn, like not eating three hours before bed. Well I can't sleep on an empty stomach so, i guess i just have to deal with it. I've had severe acid reflux this whole pregnancy. If I let my stomach get empty it gets worse. I make sure I eat every few hours. I take 150mg Zantac every 12 hours. Sometimes I take it early because I'm in so much pain. Certain foods do make it worse. You just have to learn which ones trigger it for you more than others. Try not to eat greasy food they make it worse.

Try eating more protein on an empty stomach and no carbs without fat and protein. That got rid of mine for a while and made it about 80% better long-term. I got to see that my baby has tons of hair during my 4D ultrasound though, so that's a plus. The hormones that cause lots of hair growth also give you heartburn, so might not be so bad. I have had horrible heartburn the entire time I have been pregnant! I am almost 16 weeks, and it has been the worst symptom of pregnancy so far. My Mother-in-law who is a midwife suggested I try papaya enzymes. They're chewable like Tums, but in my experience they work way better, and provide relief for longer. Sleeping propped up on a couple of pillows can make a difference as well, if you are experiencing it in the morning when you wake up.

t have pancreatic problems. I take Zantac when I have stomach pain. The pain is in the upper left area but I had an upper GI done and it was GERD not cancer. So, it is best to check it out.

ll have any side effects, or if my regular symptoms (stomach pain, upset stomach) will become apparent or come back. Does anyone know if you can take Zantac 75 during your first trimester for heartburn? I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.

My bowel has also slowed. Is it possible that the Zantac so upset my stomach and intestinal flora. Will probiotics help reestablish my intestinal flora? Any other ideas?

Have you tried an antacid or something like Pepto-Bismol or Zantac - which I think reduces the amount of acid secreted by the stomach in order to reduce ulcer and heartburn pain or to assist in healing of ulcers - I'm pretty sure it is used to treat stomach and duodenal (intestinal) ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). That might point you in the right direction. Sounds like you should still see your GP though.
