Xeloda hand and foot syndrome

Common Questions and Answers about Xeloda hand and foot syndrome

xeloda

Avatar f tn From your description, your mother seems to be suffering from hand-foot syndrome, which is a common adverse effect of Xeloda. Hand-foot syndrome is a condition where the palms of the hands and soles of the feet become reddish, swollen and develop pain and tingling sensations. Sometimes, rash or peeling of the skin in the palms and soles also occur. Reducing the dose of Xeloda can help decrease this side effect.
Avatar f tn Hi Judi, This sounds like the "red hand and foot syndrome" you get with Xeloda (another chemo treatment). Does it get hot and itch? I found that using cold packs from the freezer when it was itching/burning helped to relieve the symptoms. As for the skin peeling I used Shea Butter. Just the shea butter without any additives (like perfume). It is expensive but I shopped on ebay (wonderful place!
484033 tn?1208516117 Yes, that was adjuvant therapy, administered between surgery and ileostomy takedown. (It was originally combined with Xeloda, but I could not tolerate that drug so the Xeloda was discontinued) Prior to surgery I treated with 5FU and radiation. So glad to put that in the past! Just had a follow-up exam and CEA 125 is normal. No lasting problems except the neuropathy in both heels, which is annoying but not a real big deal. Hope your tx goes as well.
Avatar m tn My body smply could not tolerate the drug and while taking Xeloda I lost more than one pound per day, snd had relentless nausea and terrible pain in my hands and feet. After one three-week cycle my doctor discontinued the Xeloda. I was able to complete treatment with the oxiliplatin. This was in 2004 and I am cancer free today. Ask your mother's doctor for something else. If possible she should not stop chemo until her doctor is certain no trace of cancer remains in her lymph system.

Avatar f tn ya...but it seems mom has two different cells one is in breast and other in liver (some he3+, i guess) ,for oncolet the breast cells are being controlled but not the liver cells ,thats why disease has reoccured in liver ,is what the reply the doctor gave me,so in order to control both, mom needs to take oncolet and xeloda together....
Avatar f tn i am scheduled to get an injection tuesday however this afternoon i started feeling leg and foot tingling again on the same side that i had all the pain on before. the doctor seems to think that it is caused from the facet or si joint. I dont believe that i re herniated my disc but at this point no one will give me another mri to make sure or anything. the pain started on the right side which i had no pain to begin with on that side and is located in the butt.

Avatar f tn I have been expierencing a sharp shooting pain at the top of my right foot between the small toe and the second toe. It usually happens on and off and at rest. I usaully get it for two, three days and then goes away for a month or two and then I get it again.
Avatar n tn For the past two years, my right foot gets swolen, when compared to my left foot. My regular physician, and she is an excellent one, had an ultrasound and mri done along with xrays. I also had an EKG done as part of my physical. She informed me that she didn't find a problem; I should accept it as part of the growing old process. (All my life, my right foot has always been bigger (!) than my left foot). I am still concerned. I would appreciate your advice. Thank you.
Avatar n tn My coordination and motor skills seem fine. Interestingly, the arch on the left foot has somewhat collapsed over the past few months. Does this help any?
408448 tn?1286883821 Anyone ever use Xeloda pills? It is for colon cancer, but has been used in ovarian too. More for mucinous type. My cancer got pretty active on last treatment.
Avatar f tn I was back at work (desk job in FedGov) two weeks later, but the 24/7 pins/needles/weakness remained and I developed severe thalamic pain syndrome affecting my right fingers/hand/arm, right side of my face is VERY sensitive to even slight breeze, the right side of my scalp hurts when I take a shower under a very night water spray, and my right knee and foot cause pain, esp. the bottom of my foot feels like the skin/muscles are bowing out/away from my body.
Avatar f tn At each and Every ultrasound I had..and I had. Plenty ..my baby girl always had her hand by her face as well as her foot..I would not be too concerned. Talk to your doctor and he should put your mind at ease.
Avatar f tn The she started getting hand to foot syndrome and everything I have read says the chemo may need to be adjusted. She says her dr wanted to stay on track with the chemo and it would go away after chemo. The more we question her I now know that she has 64 lesions. Is this a large number or is this a small number? My sisters and I are trying to figure out just how bad this is... we are not comfortable with what my mom is actually telling us... PLEASE HELP!!!
193953 tn?1272075026 Ever since I have been on here I have complained of unexplained freezing cold feet and hands during the day. This is just the first time I have ever posted on this forum. I have been tanning and noticed yesterday blue fingernails. So, symptom checker, here comes another. Raynaud's came up and just explained it so well but it is almost always secondary to a primary auto immune disorder diagnosis. I had none, or so I thought. Went to the eye dr. today with 2nd bout of "pink" eye.
Avatar f tn i mite have messed my foot up by running alot before my recent pregnancy but now that ive had it for a few years its happening more frequently,,,,for example if i stand on that foot and tippie toe and will stiffen up and its practically unbarrable...it hurts alot i think it feels like a very bad cramp. i know something is wrong i just dony know if i should see a foot doctor before this condition gets worse. write back if you hear anything.
Avatar n tn Yes, intervertebral disc herniation in the cervical an lumbosacral region can cause these symptoms in hands and feet due to compression of exiting nerve roots at the cervical level and lumbar level, responsible for hand and foot pain respectively. Cervical disc compression if severe or associated with spinal canal stenosis can lead to symptoms in the feet also. You need a neurologist to examine you clinically, ask for an MRI spine to check the exact levels and evidence of spinal stenosis.
Avatar f tn 36.
Avatar n tn If your symptoms are confined strictly to your left foot and your left hand, this would unlikely to be related to your C5-C6 herniated disc. A herniated disc at that level would possibly explain your left hand symptoms, but would not also cause symptoms just in your left foot. If your symptoms involve your whole left arm and left leg (or the entire left side of your body) one possibility is that the problem is in the brain rather in the spine or the peripheral nervous system.
