The rash was looking a bit different and they thought it was a fungal rash and perscribed atarax, clotrimazole cream usp, 1% and triamcinolone acetonide cream .01% I used that and put vasaline on top of it and it went away. About three weeks ago it came back the doctor told me it was contact dermatitis and perscribed triamcinolone acetonide .025% lotion it got worse. I am thinking it is a reaction to one of my medications geodon.
Don't use Triamcinolone anymore if you can help it as overuse can cause real problems. We read about it here all the time because it can thin the skin.
I would try Psoriaflora cream or clear 100% aloe vera.

Thank you for your feedback. I haven't used anything other than cerave moistuizing lotion and cream. I am swearing off all steroid based creams forever. I am really worried that I have done permanent damage. Do you think that the atrophy is reversable?
However, 2 days after finishing the Orapred, she has developed an extremely itchy rash from her neck almost to her knees. The rash is slightly raised and red. I have used some of the Triamcinolone on it in a few places just to test but it has not helped. Her Zyrtec does not seem to be helping the itch. Ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist that is familiar with Hep C. I went and got a rx for ointments, creams and pills that helped give me some relief and to get rid of most of it.
After stopping tx 6 wks ago I have found that the areas that had the rash have turned very dry (like sandpaper) so I use Nivea lotion for the areas I can reach. (still use the back scratcher for the areas I can't reach, I highly recommend them, HA!)

This rash on palms can be due to contact dermatitis, allergies or pompholyx. The other is of contact dermatitis. Do not use triamcinolone without your doctor’s guidance. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

Is your mother on chemotherapy? Some of the chemotherapeutic drugs can cause generalized itching and rashes all over the body. Discuss it with her treating oncosurgeon.Other causes of itchy sores all over body are allergies,dermatitis,urticaria or hives,scabies,pityriasis rosea.She may take an antihistamine like Benadryl for relief in symptoms. Application of calamine lotion may provide a soothing effect.
Exfoliation, intensive moisturizing creams, creams and lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids and urea may be used to temporarily improve the appearance and texture of affected skin. But it is advisable to get it prescribed from a dermatologist.
