Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting cat poison

vomiting

Avatar f tn Sounds to me like she may need at least an xray to see if there is a blockage in her intestines----This is very serious and urgent that you let the Vet do what he needs to do . Vomiting everything she eats was what caused my cat to have exploratory surgery to see if there was a blockage---thank God there wasn't but she was a very sick little girl..
Avatar f tn 2-3 days ago. The last 3 hrs of today he has both dirarrea and is vomiting. He is an indoor cat and normally never eats or drinks people's food/ beverage. Any insights?
Avatar m tn It does sound like she ingested something that was on her body, that was poisonous. All I can suggest is that you continue to keep her hydrated and warm and try to get some calories into her, perhaps through broth. Despite that you did not want to bathe her, if she begins to get better I would seriously consider doing so in case something is still on her fur that is poisonous. Use a gentle shampoo made for cats or even dogs, if you can find one.
Avatar m tn What could have caused this if he was showing no signs of illness. He is an indoor cat only so poison is not an option or getting hit is not an option. He was not losing weight, he was not lethargic or acting strange. I never felt a lump on him, he never back away from touch etc. There was so much blood and i'm grateful that at least he died quickly. My heart is breaking and I'm just wondering what could have happened to him so quickly?

Avatar f tn KFC is pure poison... I got a severe salmonella food poisoning from it,then I read that in different chains of KFC around the world ppl had the same posening. I HATE KFC and will never ever have it again.
152660 tn?1291755571 “My cat may have ingested antifreeze. My husband was working on a vehicle and said what the cat drank was mostly water, but may have had some antifreeze in it. Should I call our veterinarian? What symptoms should I look for if there is a problem?” A: Signs and symptoms similar to drunkenness. Antifreeze intoxication is very serious. Immediate actions are necessary to save patients that have ingested even small amounts of ethylene glycol, the most common ingredient in most types of antifreeze.
Avatar f tn I have one cat that vomits everyday. When this first happened she was on dry food and the vomiting was so bad that she was losing a large amount of weight (starving to death). Took her in to the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her so they gave her some meds to take before she ate. I took the food and soaked in water to soften it up seemed to help for awhile.
Avatar n tn My uneducated theory is she had hairballs and started vomiting and developed cat anorexia after a few days of not feeling like eating. So her bilirubin would be due to anorexia. But that doesn't explain the blood count. The vet said all he could think of is that she got poisoned somehow. But she's an indoor cat and we live in a child-safe, clean house with no known poisons around.
Avatar f tn My cat was coughing and breathing heavy. I took her to the Vet and after they took X-Ray I was told she has to be under medication for two weeks. I started her on Clavamox 15 ML but after couple of days I noticed she vomits after each intake. I was told by the Vet to give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait 20 minutes before giving her Clavamox. She is not eating food and I am giving her Garbor baby food (chicken and rice) along with Clavamox. I noticed she still vomits after each intake.
6726276 tn?1421126668 t worry too much about the vomiting, unless your cat is also showing other symptoms-lethargic, no appetite, not playing, or fever. Just keep your eye on her. Cats have very sensitive stomachs-they are barfers. Lol. Does your cat excessively wash herself? If so, then it could still be a hairball issue. I would giver her some hairball remedy once a day for a few days, just to be on the safe side. Keep us posted!
Avatar n tn My best results when dealing with a cat and fleas have been to put Frontline (or sometimes Revolution, as my vet recommends it) on the cat, and to comb the cat with a flea comb every night (these are fine-toothed combs that the fleas get trapped in, and you then drown the fleas). The cat pulls any fleas out of the environment because her body is warm, and I physically remove the fleas from the cat or they die because of the Frontline.

Avatar f tn How can I stop my cat from vomiting? She is taking Clavamox drops and was vomiting after each use. I spoke to her Vet and was told that I should give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait for 20 minutes and then give her Clavamox. She is not eating and Vet suggested to give her baby food with the Clavomox. I am doing what I was told but my cat is still vomiting.
592969 tn?1248325405 Oh my gosh!! My pickiest cat, Butters, refuses any salmon flavored food. He won't even eat fresh salmon. Best thoughts for your cat. I've had my other cat, Bob, have an episode of vomiting but it cleared right up w/in a few hours and we surmised he ate a bug or something like that.
436973 tn?1217947089 How often is normal for kitties to have upset tummies? My cat seems to vomit a few of times a month. Often twice in a day then she'll be fine for a couple of weeks and then again twice in a day. She doesn't ever act like she doesn't feel well. Just throws up and is done with it. It is not hairbally at all. Shoould I be worried?
Avatar f tn We don't recommend inducing vomiting with this - I'd recommend calling an animal pet poison helpline for assistance. You can call Pet Poison Helpline at 800-213-6680 (there is a $35/per incidence fee) or ASPCA's Animal Poison Control (there is a $60-65/per incidence fee). Some paints can be easily inhaled into the lungs, resulting in a pneumonia, so we do not recommend inducing emesis!
Avatar f tn Before I noticed he threw up yesterday, he had no signs of being sick. I know he has not eaten any poison or spoiled food. He does not have worms. What can I do at home, or an over the counter remedy to help him?
10218090 tn?1408580560 I have no knowledge of poison affects, but I understand rat/mouse poison is in fact a blood thinner that causes uncontrolled bleeding, sounds like that was not the case with Cookie. I believe Rat poison is the most widely and some times loosely used. Have you looked up the symptoms of arsenic - not sure how that could end up laying around in a park. Typing, maybe arsenic is what is in rat poison.
Avatar f tn my cat is an indoor outdoor cat she was fine this morning and was mainly indoors all day today. this afternoon she started to vomit(looked like her dry food) shaking and walking off balance almost as if she was drunk. she did her flea drops but on her yesterday. what should i do?
Avatar m tn They have their Masters in psychology So this is how it works with a cat. You have to wait for the behavior to happen and then encourage it if you want the cat to continue or IGNORE it if you want the cat to stop that behavior. An example--Cat wants in the bedroom at night so he tries some things to get your Reaction.
1580703 tn?1651904887 they were frozen and they tasted bad when I was vomiting.
